Is it hard for an American to be a primary school teacher in the UK?
I'm aware that the UK is dealing with too many immigrants at this point but please hear me out.
I'm trying to get a degree here in the US in order to teach primary school kids (I want to work with kids between age 4 to 8) but I'm not sure if that would be approved for UK standards.
I've done some heavy research into the national curriculum, and I can teach that, but the problem is that we don't follow the national curriculum here in the US.
To sum it up, if I get my degree in the US but I can write the curriculum on UK standards, would I be able to teach in the UK? Do I need to transfer to a UK university? I'm willing to teach 3 year olds if they feel my credentials aren't strong enough.
If that fails, I was thinking about starting an American import/export business selling American products that aren't sold in the UK or you'll get it for less.
I want to really live in the UK eventually but I need help!!!!! Any suggestions, feel free to say it. Thanks :-)
1 AnswerTeaching5 years agoAre childcare jobs always in demand in the uk?
I'm trying to go back to school here in the US to take up early childhood education courses in the hopes of working at a preschool or something. I really wanted to live in the UK for a while and I was wondering if preschools teachers are always needed? Is it easy for Americans to land a job there? Will my american education be strong enough for UK standards? I would like to work in London but I will work anywhere in the UK. I know the Visa and other legal requirements but just give me as much info as possible. If there's too many teachers already in the UK either suggest another job to me or a different course to take up in school if necessary. Thanks to everyone that gives an answer :-)
2 AnswersPreschool9 years agoRoommate ads online, can i be their roommate even though im not an aussie native?
I know that the question may sound odd but anyway I want to know is it illegal to wanting to move with an aussie if i just arrived to Oz? I will have my documentation, visa's, (in other words i'm legal) and so on but to save a little money would it be wrong to answer to an ad to be someones roommate even though i can meet the requirements they are looking for? I can pay them for staying in their house, and do other favors for them just to show my respect. ( i will make sure the person is good so dont worry, lol) I will have a job so i just wanted to stay with them until i get my own place. I know that immigration is going to be hard and i'm going to be prepared for that so please don't think that i'm coming there illegally.
If i have to have my own place due to the fact i'm an immigrant to the country i will just have to be prepared for that. If you have any helpful advice that i need to know about Oz please let me know. Thanks to whoever answers. :-)
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoAustralia Here I come.....sooner or later?
NOTE: I will be asking more aussie questions so be looking for them. After trying to figure out which country i want to live in one day I finally decided on australia. First off I'm trying my best to learn the good (and bad) things about the country and I'm willing to adapt to the lifestyle. Now I know that Australia is now getting more diverse but I am wondering which immigrants (indians, africans and so on) give the aussies more problems and what did they do wrong? Just wondering because i will be in australia with my boyfriend and we are an interracial couple. (i'm black, he's white) Regardless of what people may say bad about australia I still love it bacause not everyone there is bad and I wish more people would understand that.
4 AnswersGeneral - Australia1 decade agoDo schools in australia holds you back a year due to your birthday?
Situation: Due to the fact I was born in december I missed the september (or early october) deadline of turning 5 for kindergarten so I was forced to start school the next following year in late august.
With this said if I have a child born in australia but they don't turn 5 until the winter (which is summertime to us) would they still start school on time? Also as a bonus question, if they started school in australia but we had to move back to america (or vice versa) would that also put them behind in their schooling?

3 AnswersFriends1 decade agoWhat country DOES NOT!!!!! allow duel citizenship?

2 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoIs it just me or does the clothing ads just don't like having blacks with straight, short but nice hair?
This question has been on my mind for the longest so I just want your opinion on this. I love looking at the sales papers such as walmart and best buy,(just for the record i don't have problems with their ads) just to name a few but in the other papers I just wonder about the people they have for those ads. Now i know that for some odd reason mostly whites be in the clothing ads but when i see the blacks they either be biracial or dark with long hair and that makes me wonder do they have to have hair like a white woman to do these ads? I know that people can have hair extensions or could have long hair naturally but i feel as though they think that people with short hair wont make their clothing look right. The ads should feature more people of different races and hair types instead of trying to make everybody's hair be like the biracial or the white people just because they hair may look better and because they have the length. If their hair is natural like that then that's okay but if someone has bad hair that can be fixed by just constantly taking care of it some kind of way. Besides i know that some adults will wear extensions regardless but children shouldn't have to wear it all because some clothing ads may not want blacks with straight or with short hair. NOTE: I love white people so please don't get offended.
2 AnswersHair1 decade agoSo called racism in australia, is it really??
I WANT AUSTRALIANS TO MOSTLY RESPOND TO THIS BUT IT IS OPEN TO ANYONE .I am a black person i live in the US, & in the south ( one of the main states that racism occurred in) and when I saw bits of the Micheal Jackson skit held in Australia it didn't offend me. I just thought that the costume or the face paint was of bad taste but besides that I didn't see the issue. I understood the black face history but people need to know that not all people in the world have heard or experienced things like that unless they played stupid then that is another story. I get tired of people saying that aussies are racist ( mostly on youtube) and even though I've never been there, I still want to go there and if i get treated bad it's still not going shatter my spirits on what i think about them because one bad person can't compare to a million nice people. I understood where Harry Connick jr was coming from but at the same time i felt that he was slightly overacting due to fact he did a skit that was relating to black people so in a way it made him look like a hypocrite. Bottom line is there are good black people in the world and if any of you aussies are a bit uneasy around us just get to know us and maybe you'll be surprised. I know that there are africans in australia and they may cause trouble but u have to remember they are used to fighting and not used to a lot of things but that shouldn't be the image of what u guys think about us.
Racism is everywhere just not as bad and we have to understand aussie and american comedy. I don't care how different our comedy is we need to under each other so mess like this doesn't happen again. We may say n***** to each other so if you get offended if someone else says it then u should stop saying it. If you don't mind then that's different story. Australia has had famous black performers there and they enjoyed them and besides if aussies have had any problems with anybody it would be with the indian people. If I had money to have a show I would have 5 to 10 aussies stay in america (in a southern state) for month and get the same amount of blacks to stay in australia to see how each would be treated.
In conclusion before anybody starts naming a country racist find out for yourself to see how they're like because everybody doesn't have the same experience as the other and understand that that when it comes down to comedy in other countries if it's funny to them then laugh about it just as long they are not mistreating you in the process.
I'm not trying to take sides or talk bad about americans it's just that I wanted to state my opinion about this situation even tough the skit was done months ago.
Now give your opinion about the blacks in australia, the skit situation or anything related to what i have said.
8 AnswersOther - Australia1 decade agoWhat did my two dogs die from?
I had a brown &white terrier, born in 92 died in 99 a month after his 7th birthday. My white & black spitz and feist mix born in 2000 died in 07 four months before her 7th birthday. She has an older sister (same mom different dad) and she is 11 and is still going strong. The two dogs had gotten fat around the stomach region, both was eating until the last few days of their life. They was still leaving their dog piles in the yard but they both just slowed down and with the white dog it seemed like she had worms coming out of her skin on her thigh when I brushed her and she looked as though she was bleeding on her thigh (I had freaked out so I really didn't investigate it more ) I thought she had a mild but not deadly heart condition because she would faint (but not often) when she barked at something or at someone really hard. My terrier was healthy until he started to get sick. They didn't throw up a lot like they probably did it once or twice and that's it. I couldn't take them to the vet because I can't and still can't afford it. For the record as far as I know of and I could be wrong but they didn't have bloody diarrhea. So what was wrong with my dogs I what I need to know to prevent this from happening again?
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoLong hair, short hair, thick hair, thin hair, curly hair, straight hair why do aquire these hair textures?
I was just trying to be clever with the question but anyway I know that everybody has different hair textures but why race (which is african american) have a hard time having long hair like the other races? The black males can grow their hair in no time but it's just some women who have the problems. I have long hair due to genectics on my father's side but is there something that blacks need to avoid? (besides the chemicals of hair products) Are there any foods that can make my hair just a little more thicker?
1 AnswerHair1 decade agoCan u get an foreign accent even if you are older?
I love people who speaks with a british and australian and as with my other past questions I said that I want to travel there. I hear kids as young as 2 or 3 have an accent but is there an age limit where you are too old to have one? Like for example terri irwin is american, went to australia in her late 20s or early 30s and has been there since and doesn't have a accent and some people who comes to america with a brit or aussie accent loses theirs (but some don't lose theirs completely) and I wonder how is that? I'm in my early 20s and I practice on talking like like the aussies and the brits so I wonder if that will help on developing an accent or am I too old? I already know that it would've been best if I grew up in one of those countries so that way I would've had an accent.
4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIf I lived in Canada For 5 years, gain citizenship & I decided to move to london would i lose citizenship?
Sorry i couldn't say the question right due to the lack of characters they gave me but for starters i am american and i want to travel to canada, europe, & australia. If i lived in canada and gained duel citizenship (only if they allow that) but then for some reason i moved to london and stay there long enough for me to be able to take the citizenship test would i lose my american citizenship, canadian, both, or would they let me choose which one to lose? THIS IS JUST MY THOUGHT "If they say that if i keep the canadian one my citizenship there would be an easier process to go thru I would be messed up because i am american & i don't want to give that up".
4 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoIs it easier to gain citizenship in Australia or in Europe & which one has the lowest cost of living?
I think that its easier in europe because if i gain brit citizenship i can live in several brit nations such as scotland, ireland, and so on with no problem whereas 4 aus i gain only citizenship to them but im not sure 4 new zealand. The cost of living im not sure of because i have to convert the brits pounds to american dollars. please help me.
2 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoIs it extremely important to learn the language dialects and speak it in other english speaking countries?
For starters I want to live in Australia (I've asked several questions here on yahoo about moving there) and maybe go to England to visit or to live there if Australia doesn't work out. I live in america and I know that some people call elevators- lifts, dinner -tea or supper and much more than that. With that being said when I go to those places should I stick with the normal english as I am now or should I use the dialects maybe just to avoid a misunderstanding?
I want to live or visit the places so give me some words I should never say about brits and aussies? Like in australia I hear the word WANKER and I don't know the meaning and also I don't want to say that and they look at me like they want to beat me down. That's why I'm asking this.
If money and education wasn't an issue is it easier for a black american to move/live in europe or to australia and why? I just want your opinion on this for fun.
1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoI want live in Australia someday can give me some details please?
I'm thinking about moving there in a few years (maybe late this year just to visit because I want to find me an aussie man and also just for the fun) now here's what I know I know I will have to take a test for me to become a citizen. You get movies and electronics at a later date than america although the movies aren't important to me I will fly home to get the latest electonics if necessary. If i get married to an aussie I have to be with them for a few years (although marriage is forever with me no divorces unless necessary)and they have to be a resident there. I have to have some kind of skill that is beneficial for australia. It can get very hot and maybe dry, dvd regions is different, seasons are reversed from here in america, prices are higher, I think u guys use rain water, food may taste different, I get perms (yes I'm black, african american or whatever u want to call me) and I'm not sure if u all have that and my hair can't tolerate just anything so I guess when it comes down to perm time I will be flying back to america..... Just joking I don't have bad hair so I can go without one. So really the questions is really what else I need to know about australia give me links if necessary? I'm going to school to become a web page designer and I was wondering if that can be a good skill to take to australia with me or do I need to change it to something else even if I have to go to school there? I can adapt to any culture and their rules, I am a quiet person (a bit nervous at times) but nice if u just say hello to me. Also once I become a citizen will I lose my american citizenship? I know that I will just be called Australian instead of black australian, black american australian or things like that but seriously I want to make your country my second home and to start my family so that way they won't have to worry about crime that much and other bad things that had been going on here in america but also because I want them to experience different customs. This has been a dream of mine to go there so please give me as much info as you can or just the website. Thank you all who answers :-) P.S. I am a laid back person, I don't take things seriously plus I love aussie humor I don't care how the other americans take it call me crazy but I love it!
