I founded and still help to run Auditory Processing Disorder in the UK (APDUK). All of my children have a clinical diagnosis of APD, and as a result of trying to find help for our children both my partner and I also have a diagnosis of having APD. APD is a listening disability, having problems processing what you hear, and APD is the underlying cause of our dyslexic symptoms.
If there are 28 definitions of Dyslexia how do we know which one applies in our child's School?
According to a recent article in the UK there are 28 defintions of dyslexia, which i have since found to be included in a UK Governement research review Developmental dyslexia in adults: a research review - Report (pdf 0.99 MB) which can be downloaded from
http://www.nrdc.org.uk/projects_details.asp?Projec...
(see page 133 onward for the 28 defintion of dyslexia).
How do we know which defintions each school is working to.
And with so many defintions to choose from how do we know which is really the correct one if any at all
