Should I repeat a History course for my Science Major, or is it a waste of time?
I am currently a full time student at a local community college and I was wondering if it is worth the time and money to repeat a history class that I took last semester. I have a huge dilemma at the moment:
I need 61 credits to complete my program curriculum, and I have 45 total at the moment (6 are transfer credits from high school). Technically, I need about 19 credits to get my associates (minus the 6 credits from high school) but I only have one semester left and I can only have a maximum of 18 credits per semester. I have about 6 more courses I need to take, and that totals to about 17-19 credits.
Right now, I am kind of contemplating retaking my U.S. History II course: one, because I am not that good in history apparently; and two, I may need to replace the history course with another course. But I REALLY would like to retake it. Honestly, I think my professor was not right for me. I passed my U.S. History I class with a B+!
Basically, what I would like to know is whether:
1) Is a history class that important for a science major? Or at least an A.A.S (Associate of Applied Science Degree)?
2) Will I receive the credits of the history class again or will my grade just change?
3) Should I replace it and just stick with the D because it is not that important?
I plan to transfer to a four year college next Fall to continue my education and get my Masters or PhD in Veterinary Science.
What should I do? Thanks to anyone that takes the time to read and reply!
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhy are the newer cartoon network shows characters so stupid?
Is it just me, or does a lot of the newer Cartoon Network characters seem mentally challenged? I don't mean shows like The Regular Show and Adventure Time, but shows like Uncle Grandpa, and there's another show coming out, but I can't think of the name. I remember shows like The Powerpuff Girls, Tom and Jerry, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Looney Tunes, Baby Looney Tunes, Camp Lazlo, Dexter's Laboratory, Codename Kids Next Door, Johnny Bravo, and I am Weasel; just to name a few! And none were like the newer shows.
I don't prefer watching Cartoon Network anymore (mainly because I am 18), but when I'm not busy and decide to watch it with my younger siblings, I don't really care for the newer shows. And I really don't prefer my siblings watching the channel anymore. But that's just me.
Am I wrong for thinking this, or does anyone else think the same?
6 AnswersComics & Animation7 years agoWhy does this guy always stare at me, but I don't know him and we've never talked?
Well, the first time I ever seen this guy was last semester. We were standing in this long line waiting for our items at the bookstore. When I seen him, I thought he was really cute, but after that, I didn't see him again. I didn't expect to see him, because we didn't have any classes together. So I never thought about him. Two months ago, when our Spring semester started, we walked passed each other as I was walking to the bookstore. I noticed that he was looking right at me, but didn't think anything of it. After that, I didn't see him again until last month around Valentine's Day when he walked into my psychology class and stared at me until he walked around the whole room and left with a friend. I figured he was looking for something, and again, I didn't think anything of it. Well, I seen him almost everyday last week, and every time he was staring at me. On Tuesday, I walked into one of the buildings that he was walking in, unknowingly, going to psychology, and for some reason he looked back at me and did like a double take. It was weird. Then, on Wednesday, I walked into the library to use a computer and I noticed he was staring at me with a slight smile/grin. We made eye contact, he didn't look away but I did. Finally, on Thursday, we walked passed each other on the stairs and he looked up at me once he reached the bottom.
Is it a coincidence, or just me being paranoid? We've never talked before, and I'm too shy to approach him. What should I do???
1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoWhat is the best state to live in in the United States? East Coast v West Coast or anywhere in between?
My family and I are looking to relocate to another state, preferably along the East Coast, but if there is a state that fits the needs listed below, we are willing to look into those states.
I am looking for a state that collectively fits our wish list:
A states with great real-estate?
A state with big houses?
A state with great views?
A state with great schools?
A state with low crime rates?
A state with big cities?
A state that is better for a Massage Therapist looking to start a business?
A great state to start a family?
A state for Cosmetologists?
A state for Veterinarians?
A state for pets?
A state without a lot of bugs?
A state with vegetarian or vegan restaurants or stores?
A state that is warm, but does not have a lot of pollen during the spring and summer months?
A state that has colleges or universities that offer Veterinary, Fine Arts, and Video Game Designing related studies?
I currently live in Virginia and although the state offers some of the things listed above, my family and I are not happy with our currently living situation(s). I was looking into Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gainesville, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, and Miami, Florida, but I don't know much about these states; I can't even find a lot of information about the cities. However, we all need a fresh start! Thanks to anyone that responds!!
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate7 years agoI keep getting Amber Alerts. How to stop them?
Today in Virginia there was an Amber Alert and messages were sent to every cell phone in the state. I heard the Amber Alert on the radio around 12:00 pm today, but I got the first cell phone message around 12:29 pm. Every since then, I've gotten 10 messages over a 10 hour time span. However, they found the child around 2:00 pm. The message is the same exact message I got the first time: It gives a description of the suspects car and the license plate number.
Here's where it gets weird: I got the first message before the child was found, and the send came AFTER the child was found. I didn't realize this until I checked online and it said she was found.
Right now, it is 11:00 pm EST were I live and I am still getting the messages. The two most recent messages came ten minutes apart. One at 10:40 pm and the other at 10:50 pm EST.
What can I do to stop them? I already turned my phone off to stop it but it didn't work. I really would like to go to bed in peace and not have to worry about my phone blaring through the night.
3 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoCan a parent move their child out of a state without the other parents consent?
A family friend is planning on moving from VA to another state and wants to take her two kids with her. However, the father, who signed both birth certificates, is very active in only one of her kids life (He sometimes keeps him for weeks at a time while she works. Her other child is kept by her family members or even me and my family, occasionally.) I've done some research and I want to advise her to wait and get full custody, but she has already said she doesn't want to go through the hassle of a custody battle. I don't want to interfere in her life, but I am very concerned.
Due to the circumstances, is it legal for her to leave the state without his permission? Is there a law in the state of Virginia that prohibits a parent from leaving the state without the permission of the other parent --especially when they don't have full custody?
If she just ups and leaves the state without informing the father, what might happen?
Also, they were never married and are not currently in a relationship.
3 AnswersFamily7 years agoWhere can I buy Organic Green Tea and Oolong Tea in the USA?
I am looking into buying Oolong Tea while I am dieting. Is Oolong Tea healthy for you? I read that it contains a lot of caffeine. I am not that comfortable with the idea of drinking anything that has caffeine in it, but do you think it's worth a try?
Also, what is the best store to buy Organic Green Tea? Can I find a box at Walmart? And what are the best and healthy brands that supply Honey? Healthy Snack bars?
Thanks to anyone that responds!!
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness7 years agoWhat is needed to change Exterior and touch-up the Interior color of a car?
I would like to change the Exterior color of my 1999 VW Passat from a Royal Green Metallic to a Mojave Beige color. I was looking into paints and found Mojave beige spray paint on Amazon but they were labeled as Mazda paints. Does it matter if I get my Volkswagen painted with a Mazda spray paint? Or should I look for the paint on other websites? Also, is there any way to get my older modeled car to shine like a newer model once the paint has finished drying? I have a family friend who is willing to paint my car once I get the necessary materials. He has been painting older modeled cars for almost 10 years but has never had a request to make one shine like a newer model. He mostly just polishes and waxes the cars to give them a good shine. Would it be better to just get it polished and waxed rather than making it shine like a newer model?
The Interior of my car is currently a tan cloth, and I would like to touch-up the color. When I bought my car, it had stains in the fabric of the seats, doors, and floors. I have found the fabric paint I want to use at the Autozone online store. It is "Desert Sand Vinyl and Fabric Coating." How many cans should I buy? Is there anything I should watch out for while painting? And is there any materials I should use while spraying the fabric? I would like to do this on my own.
Also, my car has chipped paint on the rear bumper. Should that be sanded down before the car is painted or does the whole car get sanded? How long does it usually take for both the interior and exterior of the car to dry once the paint has been applied? Approximately how long does it take for a car, or sedan, to get painted? A day or two?
Below are examples of the colors I am looking into:

1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoIn a 1999 VW Passat, is the A/C system and the Mass Air Flow Sensor the same thing?
This is kind of an update for a previous question:
I've been having a lot if issues with my 1999 Volkswagen Passat in the past year. I bought my car last January and since then, everything kind of went bad. I was told by the dealer when I bought the car that he would put the car through inspection and fix anything that was wrong it; that included the part on the driver side door that holds the lock and window power switches, which was not attached to the door. That did not happen though (Today, I can still lift it from the door).
This afternoon, I was researching things that might have caused my car's A/C system to completely stop working: The lights for the buttons do not come on when pressed and the defrost does not work either. My car has to go through inspection in the next few days and I would like to know more about what needs to be fixed and/or working in order to pass inspection.
I need to know if the A/C system in a car has anything to do with the Mass Air Flow Sensor. I'm not 100% sure what the Mass Air Flow Sensor is, but I have done some research. What I've discovered is that my car has been having some side effects of a bad or dirty MAF sensor: My car stalls when I put gas in or it doesn't start at all, the engine light came on about a month before the a/c went out, and the car shutters when running. Also, does the transmission have anything to do with either going bad because I haven't had my transmission fluid changed since I bought my car. But I did have my oil changed.
Also, what do I need to fix my rear driver side power window that fell into the door. I currently have something in place so that the window does not fall in again, but is there a reason why it just slipped off, or is the motor bad and/or broken?
Any answers will help tremendously! Thanks!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoCar Troubles: What should I do and/or look for to fix my car?
Below is a list of the ongoing issues that I have endured with my 1999 Volkswagen Passat every since I purchased it from a used car dealership about a year ago:
1) About 5 months ago the A/C went without warning. One afternoon, as I was leaving a store, I noticed my A/C just wouldn't turn on --which includes the fan, blower, and defrost. The lights that are associated with the defrost and A/C, dashboard, and car lights work just fine though.
2) I may need rotors for my front tires (they make this really loud and annoying screeching noise whenever I press the brakes). I had the front brake pads replaced about a month or two ago.
3) Whenever the car is put in reverse or drive, and even when it fully stops after braking, it makes a clinking sound. What is that sound and does it have anything to do with the transmission?
4) Someones after gas is put in the car, it stalls at the gas station.
5) Rear driver side window of my car has somehow slipped off of the track. I took the car to a nearby Grease Monkey and the mechanic told me I may need a new motor for the window.
6) The blinker switch (the switch the controls the turning signals) is really loose. And the box that shields the wires under and around the steering wheel is separating.
7) The car has an alignment issue as well (It veers off to the right periodically, even when my hands are on the wheel. It is sometimes hard to control the wheel).
8) Lastly, since the car's A/C and heat is not working, the car shakes violently in the morning, and sometimes while driving and braking; especially since temperatures have reached below 25 degrees at night where I live.
At this point, I am not really sure what to do with the car. I really want to keep it --mainly because it is my first car. When I first bought it in January of 2013, it did not show any signs of malfunctioning to this extent. The only minor problems I had was with the brakes, which started around February of 2013, and the radio, which I had replaced shortly after I purchased the car. Maybe it is an electrical problem? I'm not really sure where I can find anything to fix this stuff for cheap.
What I really need to know is whether I should purchase parts for the car to fix these problems; should I take the car to a Volkswagen dealership for a broader understanding of these issues? Or is the car a total lose and should I sell it for what it is worth based on its current condition and Blue Book value? I really need an answer to every questions. It would really help!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoWhat does it mean to dream about someone you used to have a crush on?
Recently, I started having odd dreams of this guy I used to have a tiny crush on in the 7th grade (actually, it wasn't even that much of a crush; it was nothing really). I just started college and I haven't heard, seen, or spoken to him in almost 4 years. What does this mean?
**A little background history**
Out mother's used to work together when we were younger, around the age of 8 - 13, but I've only known [of] him since the 4th grade. He was really nice and made me laugh a lot through middle school. My mom would always joke and say I was love with him, but even back then, I knew that I didn't 'like like' him; he was just a close a friend.
It has been years since I thought of him. I would come across his page on Facebook once in awhile but nothing stalker-ish. In one of my dreams, I seen him in a grocery store, dropped my basket, ran the other way, and hid in the produce section. In my recent dream, I seen him in a grocery store and he grabbed my hand and asked me to be his girlfriend. Then we walked through the store hand-in-hand. It was really weird when I woke up, but for some strange reason, it felt good IN the dream. Now I can't stop thinking about him.
The one thing I don't understand is why all of a sudden, when I start my first year of college, I start dreaming of him. The first dream happened a few days before my classes started and the most recent dream happened a week and a few days later. When we were younger, I never used to dream OR think of him. For the passed 3 and a half years I haven't even thought of him at all. I don't really miss him, and I'm guessing he doesn't really miss me either. I really could care less but WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? It's really driving me crazy because I don't want to keep having these strange dreams.
2 AnswersDream Interpretation8 years agoI need help moving my grandmother back to the hospital after my aunt moved her to a retreat. What can I do?
I am in a horrible situation:
My grandmother suffered a stroke that hit her brain stem and has been in the hospital for about 2 weeks now. She has been doing a lot better I might add: Her skin color is the same; She's breathing on her own now; and her tongue swelling has went down (Her tongue began to swell because she had an allergic reaction to some medicine that the hospital was injecting into her.)
This is where the twist comes in:
Even though the family has been watching her get better, my aunt has made the decision to have the hospital remove the machines that have been helping her recover. Somehow, my aunt says my grandmother has requested so by blinking her eyes; communication. Since my aunt is currently my grandmother only caretaker, she has made the decision to move my grandmother to a Retreat hospital where she can live out her final days in comfort. My father is currently incarcerated so we have not been able to contact him for his input on the whole situation. I have since learned that my father has legal right to have my grandmother moved back to the hospital, but this is where I am stuck. Mind you, I am only 16 and I don't have any experience in this type of "Law situation". But, my father can sign some document that will have my grandmother moved back to the hospital because he is her child.
I need help knowing:
1. What is the name of this document?
2. Does my father really have any say-so in this matter because he IS incarcerated?
3. What can I do to help?
4. Does my aunt have the right to make every decision for my grandmother?
Everyone in my family has been trying to tell my aunt to have my grandmother moved back to the hospital but she will not listen. One, because she might feel as if she will have to care for my grandmother in her "Vegetative state" if she does not recover; and two, because she doesn't want my grandmother to suffer. MIND YOU, it has only been 2 Weeks and she's been doing a lot better.
Also:
My grandmother is a strong woman. About 6 years ago, she was cleaning her gutters and slipped off of her roof, causing her to fall about 20 feet to the ground. Her latter fell on top of her and broke her leg. It only took her about a year to recover and since then, she has been walking marathons with her church and attending different family and friend's functions with no problem. We have all been praying for her and know she will recover. But we also know recover takes time!
Please help me!
