Here's some background...I was prescribed and was taking a high dose of Seroquel (REALLY HIGH 1200 mg) Over a relatively short period of time my blood sugar level was high as well, over 200 and then my Dr said, "Diet, exercise, and cut down on the Seroquel" (it was prescribed by my shrink and not my pcp)"

I did those three things and my glucose level returned to "normal" My morning fasting test was always around 100 or less. And I had been prescribed metformin, but I couldn't afford to pay for it, so I just walked on a treadmill more and watched what I ate.

Now though, my shrink has put me back on Seroquel (only 200mg) and thorazine and my blood sugar has ratcheted back up...this morning it was 285 and I have not eaten anything to day (only drank water...all day thirsty) and right now it's 308.

I have an appointment with my pcp next month, but should I make it sooner? Is there a number that if I reach it I need to drop what I'm doing and go?

I know this is a stupid thing to say, but aside from being thirsty I feel fine, so I'm not sure if I need to be more concerned. Thanks y'all.

I have an Nook HD and when I try to read on it or watch a movie after about 20 minutes my eyes blur. I squint at the screen and my head hurts. When I look up everything is blurry, close and far. I have tried adjusting the brightness and the distance from my eyes to the Nook as well as the ambient light in the room.

After about 30 minutes after I stop looking at the Nook, my eyes readjust back to normal. Neither my computer nor my phone cause this, although I have never tried to read anything lengthy or watch any video for any serious length of time on my phone.

I've had this Nook for several months and this problem happen everytime I use it. So my question is...can this be permanent, like can the blurriness stay, or is it the ereader itself and I need to get a different one?

I work for a major retail company. Today, I received a jury summons. In the past I have given my employers a copy of the summons and was simply given the day off. However, when I handed the summons to my boss today, she told me that I needed to find someone to cover my shift because the schedule was already posted. I told her, I received it today for the jury date of 4/15.

I know in the state of Texas, my employer is not obligated to pay me for the time off, but I didn't think they could ask or tell me to cover my own shift.

As it is I haven't asked anyone to cover my shift, and I'm hesitant...as this doesn't seem right.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a movie staring Leslie Howard called "Pimpernel Smith" In this movie he's a Brit in Germany who goes to a French shop to buy face powder. The woman behind the counter say's, "Will you allow me?" and she puts a carnation in his button hole. As a side note...Leslie Howard was married man in real life, but had a weird and open relationship with this woman (the shop clerk) Her name was Violette Cunningham and she was indeed French. They had been having a very open affair for years...with Howard's wife and kids fully aware of who she was. In fact Howard lived M-F with Violette and Sat & Sun with his wife. This is the only movie he gave her a part in, and the only real pictures of her surfaced at all.

Before anyone jumps on me, I have Googled this. I'm trying to tell what or where "Swan Court" & 'Flood Street" is at or what it looks like.My question is, is "swan court" the name the building? The apartment/flat, or area? I can see that "Flood St" is a street that runs between Kings Rd and Fulham Rd

This comes from a biography of I'm reading. In it, it references that he and his mistress had an apt there and I'm just trying to...map out where this is.and ultimately I'm confused by this...and how streets and places are named. The only other information about the apt was that it was a penthouse apt and had a small balcony. I realize the building might not be there anymore, so the pics on this site could be of a different apt building...but I'm confused by the address.

I know they are "biscuits" but I'm an American and to me a biscuit is doughy and we eat them with gravy. Are these more like crackers? or cookies?

I'm watching The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and they keep referring to them and one of the cast said, "I can get hobnobs....milk or plain." What does the milk mean?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hobnob is a brand name of biscuit made from rolled oats and jumbo oats, similar to a flapjack/digestive biscuit hybrid.

Soooo...Hobnobs are oatmeal cookies? I'm an American...a "flapjack" is a pancake we eat at breakfast with syrup poured on it...and usually biscuits on the side with gravy.

"digestive biscuit hybrid"? There's like 12 words there I don't know.

Is this like an oatmeal raisin cookie...with no raisins...and chocolate on top?

While I'm here, I reading Maugham's Of Human Bondage and what is a "high street"? Is that like the main drag? Main street through the middle of a town?... I'd also ask about "Ducks and Drakes" but I think that is skipping stones.

I need a British English to American English dictionary, clearly.

I'm not trying to troll anything. I'm watching a show, 'The Iranian Americans" on PBS right now. It's very interesting, but they are talking about being both Iranians and Americans and keeping both cultures. Which I'm absolutely fine with, and I think people should keep their own cultures etc. But one woman insisted that she be called an, "Iranian-American"

That concept of hyphenating and referring to ones ancestral country is common here in the US. (African American, Mexican American, German American) I, however, am caucasian and born here. So were my parents, and grandparents (on both sides) I think if you go far enough back we were British and Czech, but it seems odd for to me to say "I'm British American"

So my question is two fold:

1 - Why isn't just saying, "I'm American" good enough? or Why the need to segregate?

and 2- Do immigrants who move to other countries do this practice of saying where they are from. I mean if I moved to France and became a French citizen, would I be "American French"?

Again, This seems like a good trolling issue, but to be honest this is the kind of question I'm afraid to ask anyone, because it could seem offensive, and I don't mean to be.

I just watched "Pimpernel Smith" and in it Leslie Howard's character, oddly named Horatio, quotes (or paraphrases) Hamlet and I'm not sure if he meant this as an insult.

Howard is playing an updated version of The Scarlet Pimpernel and his character is rescuing people from the Nazi's. The Reichminister visits Howard in order to snoop around, because he's pretty sure that Howard is the "Pimpernel" The Reichminister asks to see what's in a box (to make sure Howard isn't smuggling out people) and in the box is skeleton. Howard picks up the skull and then says to the Reichminister,

"Alas poor Yorick, get thee to my lady's chamber, my dear general. Tell her that though she paint an inch thick, to this favour must she come, make her laugh at that." The Earl of Oxford wrote that, you know."

I get the "Earl of Oxford" part as that's a running joke in the film, but was the rest of the quote meant as a joke or insult...or both? Thanks if anyone has insight to this!
