ping request take too long?
I have Windows server 2008 r2 Enterprise on my server and here are the roles that I added:
Active Directory
DNS
DHCP
Fax Server
File and printing server
it also has MS-SQL 2012 on it. it worked good since three days ago that I found out my internet subscription is over traffic. 10 Gigabyte of internet traffic was used in less than a week which it usually took 4-5 month to be used it my 10 computer network.
I bought some extra traffic and tried to use ping request on 4.2.2.4 and the result was some thing like:
Pinging 4.2.2.4 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=500ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=700ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=1200ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=1900ms TTL=41
Request timeout
Request timeout
which in my internet speed should be something like:
Pinging 4.2.2.4 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=217ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=217ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=217ms TTL=41
Reply from 4.2.2.4: bytes=32 time=217ms TTL=41
So I stopped some of the roles for test and found out that when I stopped DNS service, ping request goes back to normal.
i checked for the virus with kaspersky latest version and the problem wasn't because of a virus.
I uninstalled DNS and DHCP and installed them again and the problem is still there.
I Can't think of any thing else.
please help
Sorry for my bad english.
