  • LCD TV Audio Video Sync Problem?

Here is my setup: Cable line comes in directly to

TIVO Premiere XL box which contains a card supplied by Cablevision.

HDMI cable connects TIVO box to Panasonic SA-XR70 receiver.

Receiver is connected to Sharp Aquos LC-70LE734U TV by HDMI cable.

Research on the internet has explained that LCD TVs such as mine take a bit more time to process

video than audio. This has led to a very annoying "lip-sync" situation in which the audio leads the video

by as much as a second or more, rendering many shows virtually unwatchable.

I realize that my receiver is a bit long in the tooth (2004) even though it does have the HDMI inputs and outputs. I would like to replace it with a receiver that has a good audio delay feature, to enable me to slow the audio down enough to sync up with the video.

    Would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Yellow Ribbon for civilian in Iraq?

The daughter of a friend is a physician's assistant who has volunteered in Iraq to aid the civilian population. She is not affiliated with the military in any way.

Her mom wishes to show her love and support by tying a yellow ribbon around a tree, which will remain until the young woman's safe return. She wanted to know if yellow was the appropriate color in this situation, and if a different color might be used if her daughter is sent to Afghanistan, which is a possibility.

I believe that yellow is appropriate in these cases, but I would appreciate it if anyone has any thoughts or specific information.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Trigonometry Word Problem?

A man has a circular pill that is 8 mm in diameter. He wants to cut the pill into three equal pieces. His pill cutting device only allows him to make slices that go all the way through, from the top of the pill to the bottom, so he can't just measure three angles of 120 degrees each. He wants to make two parallel cuts, perpendicular to the horizontal diameter. How far from the center of the pill should each cut be made so that each of the three pieces has the same area?
