I'm trying to print an important document that's posted online, but for some reason the printer thinks that the entire document is only one page and will only print one page's worth of the document. I can't copy and paste it elsewhere to print there, so what do I do? How do I get the whole document to print?

I'd like to start using my bike for transportation more often, but I'm really out of shape, so I was thinking about working on a stationary bike to build endurance. I've heard there's equipment you can set your bike on that temporarily converts it into a stationary bike, but when I've gone into shops or looked online, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, and what I have found seemed extraordinarily expensive.

Is there a relatively cheap way to lift a bike into a stationary position, and what equipment would I need for that?

I have a really awkward sentence to sort out.

"J'habitais pres d'il autrefois."

I'm trying to say, "I lived near there once." My French professor told me to use "y" instead of "d'il" but I'm not sure how to rearrange the sentence accordingly. Any help would be appreciated!

Would I write:

"Ma famille et moi sommes..."

or

"Ma famille et je sommes..."

The first one sounds better, but I'm not sure if "moi" is for predicate use only. Help please!

I'm just learning French, and I feel like it would help me a lot to read some fiction in French. Does anyone have any easy-to-understand books to recommend? I'd prefer children's novels or other books in which grammatical constructions and vocabulary are really basic. So please, no Victor Hugo or Alexander Dumas. : D

Oh, and I've already gotten Sant-Exupery's Le Petit Prince.

I'm trying to describe something between 500 and 600 BC that the Roman consul Publius did. Should I say, "In the 500's BC," "in the 5th century BC," or something else? Both options seem to be awkward and/or incorrect phrasing.

Witty clothing slogans usually don't appeal to me, but I'm an anthropology major and the evolution joke on this shirt appealed to me, so I got it.

But after I did, I started thinking that perhaps the t-shirt's meaning could be interpreted as an insult of Che Guevara.

Thoughts? If you were (or are) a Che fan, would you be offended at seeing it? There are a lot of people on my university campus who love him, and I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings if they think I'm likening their personal hero to a primate.

Did anyone see the most recent episode? WHAT was happening with the weird Life-of-Pi-esque cannibalism-at-sea number?

I'm writing an event coverage piece, and I'm actually finding it difficult to write well. It's not a news piece, it's for the Arts & Living section, and I'm finding myself proceeding through it chronologically, which is a big no-no. Whenever I've done event coverage in the past, it's either been a) a news piece or b) a review for people who might be interested in going. But this one was a one-time event with NO newsworthy factors. So how do I organize it without glazing over readers' eyes?

I'd appreciate the input of anyone whose written pieces like this in the past...

There's a short story I read a long time ago that I'd like to find again. I think it was fairly obscure, but hopefully someone here may have read it. It was about a pianist who had six fingers on one hand, and was able to play beautiful music because of that extra finger. I don't remember much about it, unfortunately, but at the end he shows up on stage right after he has amputated his sixth finger, his hand wrapped in a blood-soaked handkerchief.

What was the last thing you did that violated the law or some set of rules you are expected to live by (like rules imposed by parents, landlord, college, school, etc.)?

Whenever I attempt to do any work at all, whether doing my taxes or completing class assignments, I invariably open a new tab and go to Y!A to goof off for hours on end.

Clearly, since I continue to act in such a way against my will and better judgment, the only logical explanation is that I am the victim of some disgruntled wizard who is magically manipulating my actions.
