Yup. Yyyup. Mhmmm. Yep. I love my daughter. I love my husband. I love my dog. I love my cats. I enjoy reading, writing (but not crappy poetry, I'm above such frivolities), and the English language in general. On a typical day, I can be found at the park with my daughter and dog, and sometimes my husband if he's not at school or work. I'm an atheist with a good set of values and morals. Go figure.

  • Anyone know what to do about hair-loss in dogs?

My dog is 6 1/2 years old, he has been acting normally, eating and drinking just fine, we haven't changed his diet or routine at all, but for the past couple weeks I've been noticing hair loss in kind of a zig-zag pattern on his sides. He eats California Natural because there is no corn (he's allergic to corn) and I know for a fact that he doesn't have fleas, I check him and our four cats every couple of days. The skin under the areas where the hair-loss is happening is kind of dry, but not really flaky.

I'm kind of thinking it might be Alopecia, but just wanted to ask here and see if anyone has had a similar experience with their dogs around Spring-time, and what you did to remedy the situation.

  • Oprah's Master Class?

Is it just me or does this show seem really ...messed up? Especially calling it Master Class? The only person who even deserves to be on the show is Maya Angelou. Why the hell is Jay-Z on the show? Or Simon Cowell? It seems like just a list of spoiled celebrities to me. And the name Master Class makes it sound like they're better than everyone else, or am I imagining that one? I feel like Oprah is slowly taking over the world, and that's not a good thing.

For those of you who haven't heard of the show:

"They are the stories you've never heard from the people you thought you knew best. Handpicked by Oprah for their unique impact on the world, eight true modern masters sit down to share the untold stories that have shaped their lives and the greatest life lessons they've learned along the way. In an intimate setting, they open up about their successes, failures, triumphs, disappointments and heartbreaks.

Master Class offers an unprecedented first-person insight into the brilliant minds of famous people we love, respect and admire. First season masters include Diane Sawyer, Jay-Z, Dr. Maya Angelou, Simon Cowell, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Lorne Michaels and Oprah herself."

Oprah picked herself to be on her show...if that's not conceited, I don't know what is.
