What's the next step after I receive an eviction notice?
The simplest way I can put it is like this: a few months ago we moved to a different county because if a job offer my husband received. We moved into a fourplex owned by the real estate company that employs my husband. Fast forward months later and they tell him they don't have anymore work for him. He is considered an independent contractor. Since they no longer have work for him they are asking us to vacate the premises because we will no longer have money to pay them rent. The owner is giving us a chance to move out without an eviction but we have nowhere to go and need at least a couple if months to get rid of out stuff and move somewhere else. They are also holding his last check until he hands over the keys to the apartment. I guess my main point is do I even have enough reason to fight this in court seeing as they are the ones who own the property AND employ him? I don't want to mooch and stay here forever I just want time to figure out what to do.
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAny potty training tips for a very stubborn almost 3 yr old boy?
So back when my son was two years old I bought him a potty. He did not like it. He yelled and screamed every time I tried to take him near it. I thought maybe he was too young so I left it alone for a few months. When he was 2 1/2 he no longer even fit on the potty, my son is pretty big for his age. I gave up on the baby potty and tried training him to use our regular toilet. So far, nothing has worked. I've tried bribing. I've tried taking his diaper off and not putting it on. This did not work. He just cried for hours screaming for his diaper to be put on. Every time he sees a pair of underwear, he runs the other way. My husband takes him to the bathroom when he goes to show him what to do, but my son isn't having it. I even bought him his very own Cars toilet seat add on (I thought he might be afraid of falling in) but that didn't work either. I'm running out of ideas. He's about to be 3 years old in less than a week and the doctor said I shouldn't him force him or I'll just make it worse. Any ideas that I haven't mentioned that worked for you? Thanks in advance.
10 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoCan my employer appeal the judge's decision in my unemployment case?
A few months ago, I posted a question about having to go through the appeal process. I was advised to retain a lawyer who specialized in unemployment cases, so I did. Fast forward to today. I had my hearing and my ex employer didn't even show up. The judge went through the case anyway. The whole appeal was based on the fact that my employer said I was fired for excessive use of company email. The dates that the emails were sent weren't even days that I was at work. The judge found that I sent those emails to a co worker from home, from my personal blackberry. My lawyer said the case was pretty much dismissed because the ex employer never showed up and also because the dates that they said I was being negligent of my work weren't even my regular work days. I wanted to know if my ex employer can appeal the judge's decision, even if they weren't there. IMHO, they didn't show up because their claim was BS and they knew it.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow can I fight an unemployment decision where my former employer lied?
I live in the state of California in the county of Riverside. I was laid off in November of 2009. I filed for unemployment and was granted unemployment benefits. Fast forward to May of 2010 and my former employer appealed my benefits. They lied and said I got fired when I was laid off. Now I'm upset because unemployment has sent me a notice of overpayment and they want me to pay back what I received in benefits! They said I with held information because I supposedly lied about being fired. How can I fight this? I have no way to prove I was laid off. I was laid off over the phone while I was at home with my husband. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thank you.
