I'm awesome.

  • Why is it that only whites can be racist?

    Let's see:

White people who voted for McCain were called racists.

Black people who voted for Obama weren't.

Blacks have the NAACP and it's never called racist.

But, if whites founded the National Association for the Advancement of White People, we'd be called racist.

Affirmative action against minorities isn't racist, but if it's against the majority, it is.

    Why?

  • iWork or Office:mac - which is better for a college student?

Which one would be better for a college student (first-time Mac user) doing some papers, a few spreadsheets and the occasional presentation (but mostly papers?)

Oh, and don't say OpenOffice (IT SUCKS!) and don't say "just install Office on a Windows partition and use BootCamp or Parallels" (I DON'T WANT TO!)

  • California legal question?

    Serious question:

What exactly is the difference between a marriage and a civil union in California?

Please don't point out the obvious (you can't get married to a member of the same sex) and don't make this a Prop8 argument, or try to put words in my mouth. I just want some clear answers.

  • So Obama's name is Hussein, so what?

He wasn't named after Saddam Hussein.

He was named after his FATHER, Barack Hussein Obama Sr., not after Saddam Hussein.

He was born in 1961; Saddam didn't come to power until 1979. IT'S AN UTTER COINCIDENCE.

Hussein is also the name of a few other non-terrorists, like King Hussein of Jordan (which is our ally) and Hussein Bolt of Jamaica (the fastest man alive).

    1. Does the Matrix support MicroSDHC, or just MicroSD?

    2. What are the data charges like for the GPS feature?

    3. You can use songs on your MicroSD card as ringtones, right?

  • Should we lower the voting age?

The youth of America are now better informed than the adults, and there isn't really any reason why we have a voting age. 17-year-olds aren't automatically dumber than 18-year-olds, and so on down to 16, 15... to 0.

If you're old enough to be affected by the government, you should be old enough to vote.

I don't think a country that denies 1/4 of its citizens the right to vote deserves to call itself a democracy.

Austria is more democratic than us. AUSTRIA.

Best answer will be given to the best-informed opinion, even if it's against mine. Because that's how I roll.

  • Why do people overreact?

-Now that Obama is president-elect, contrary to popular belief, we're not going to become a Communist Islamic police-state theocracy with Bill Ayers heading the homeland security department and dead babies littering the streets.

-McCain, contrary to popular belief, is NOT Bush's evil clone, and would not cover this country in a stinking pile of trash, keep us in Iraq for the next 100 years, give an Uzi to every psychopath, keel over dead the minute he takes office, rob from the poor to give to the rich, and kill all the reindeer in the Arctic oil reserves.

None of these will happen. The President's term isn't that long.

  • Has anyone ever noticed this?

Some of the same people who are calling Obama a Muslim are also some of the same people who criticized his minister.

...Muslims don't have ministers. They have clerics.

  • Why do people hate gay marriage so much?

Most of the people who say that we should ban gay marriage are in favor of protecting "the institution of marriage." WHAT INSTITUTION? It's two people! Getting married! It's as simple as that?

If Bobby and Jimmy really love each other, why should we care if they get married? Would anyone get hurt? Would anyone die?

And all you Bible-thumpers: Sure, it might be against the Bible... but that's YOUR religion. What about people who are in other religions? First Amendment anyone? Sure, it might be against the Bible... but it's also against the Bible to be intolerant. If gay people go to hell, that's all well and good... let them go to hell!

So... what exactly is this almighty sacred "institution of marriage"? And who would get hurt or die if it was broken?

  • Question about those people who say "MLK would be proud."?

Wasn't MLK an advocate for racial EQUALITY?

It's a common misconception that he was pro-black or anti-white. He was pro-everybody and anti-race-labels

In my opinion, MLK would be furious by the fact that we even care that Obama is black. HE'S THE PRESIDENT. Not the "black president." The PRESIDENT. And that should be enough.

Have any of those people actually read his speech?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

That's right. He was against any set of race labels at all. He wouldn't care whether Obama is black or not - he wouldn't be proud that he's the first black president, he'd be furious that we even care anymore.

    Your thoughts?

  • How do I read data from Apple II 3.5" floppy disks on a Windows PC?

I recently salvaged an Apple IIGS. Is there any way to take some of the data from its 3.5" floppy disks and use it on a Windows XP PC?

    I have a floppy drive.

Preferably, I'd like a free piece of software.

  • Questions about printers, scanners, XP and Vista?

    1. If I have a printer or scanner connected to an XP machine, and the printer/scanner is shared, will I be able to use it on a Vista machine on that network, even if I don't have Vista drivers for it?

    2. Does anyone know if these printers/scanners have Vista drivers:

    -Lexmark 3200 Color Jetprinter

    -Lexmark Z22 Color Jetprinter

    -Brother HL-1440 printer

    -Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB Scanner

I'm asking because I just bought a computer with Vista (haven't set it up yet) and am wondering whether I'll need to buy yet another printer or scanner.

  • How to convince my telecom companies to let me get broadband?

The cable company in my area only lets me get basic cable in my area - no digital, no broadband internet. Apparently I'm not in the coverage area for those things.

Same with my phone company - no DSL.

But the worst of it is when my stupid cable company runs these annoying-as-crap 30-second ads about how they have the fastest internet available. WELL NO YOU DONT. To have the fastest internet available, it has to be AVAILABLE.

I'm thinking I should get reimbursed for every minute I have to spend watching them gloat about their services.

  • Anyone know of some good trivia sites?

I'm prepping for an upcoming stint on a game show, and I want to know if there are any good trivia sites out there.

I don't want sites that just have quizzes; some live competition would be appreciated.
