  • My ipod is not allowing me to turn it off, it just keeps playing?

It all started when I plugged my black video ipod into my computer. For some reason, my itunes didn't detect it. The ipod only turned on, then it said "Do Not Disconnect". I unplugged it since my itunes still didn't detect it. Later on, I came back and my ipod was playing through all 3,000 of my songs. It is at song 97. The blue pause/play button in the upper left corner is gone.

    What I've already tried:

I tried to press pause, but it won't stop.

I tried holding down pause to turn it off, that didn't work.

I tried resetting it by holding the center button and menu button. It doesn't allow me to reset it.

I tried plugging it back into my computer.

I tried pushing the "hold" button on and off.

I also tried plugging it into the wall so it gets charged up... that didn't work.

What else can I do? Should I let it run out of power? Then what?

  • Is it okay to bring a stuffed animal or two to college?

I'm slowly accumulating items to bring to my dorm this fall. I plan to take my stuffed animal wolf and duck with me since they have memories attached to them. I would just put them on my bed, wouldn't be creepy and walk around with them or anything like that.

When I told my brother I was bringing them, he looked at me like I was crazy. Also, one of my new friends came into my room, saw the two stuffed animals on my bed, and said, "You STILL have stuffed animals?"

Does this mean I should give them away or put them in the attic? I shouldn't care what people think, but all this negative reaction towards me, an 18 year old girl, bringing 2 stuffed animals to college is kinda making me over-think it.

What do you think? Is it okay to bring stuffed animals to college?

  • What is wrong with me? Is this just a phase of young adulthood or something else?

I am 18. I only have a month left of high school and then it is summer and college life. I found myself becoming an angrier person, finding everyone annoying and being negative, and have a lack of passion of anything. I have this mentality of my fellow classmates: "I won't see them ever again, so who cares?" I find myself listening to sad and angry songs. I also had a fight with my mom, she has always been annoying and emotional, but for some reason... I just couldn't handle it. All of a sudden after the last 5-6 years that I noticed my mom has been this way, I suddenly lose it. I feel like she is such a b*tch and I am too. The next time my parents bicker, I feel like I am going to explode.

All I do is go through the motions. School... workout... homework... watch tv... sleep. I have a new job and will be starting it soon, but... I don't want to do it anymore.

I don't want to go out with friends. I feel like I've lost them because I run out of things to say, I try too hard to be funny, and a new girl came to school (I tried to befriend her, but our personalities ended up clashing) and my friends adore her.

I don't want to do all the fun stuff that comes with senior year either... I'm not going to prom and I am just walking at my graduation simply because of my parents... I don't want to do any of this stuff.

Is this just me struggling through the remainder of my days as a high school student or is it something else? Is it just me thinking "This doesn't matter... when college comes, I can start over." or is it something deeper?

My life doesn't suck.... I just feel myself changing, which I expect since people change dramatically at this time, but I feel like I am changing for the worse, not better.

  • Is it okay to not drink alcohol?

Because I feel like society says it isn't. I just got off the phone with my brother, who wouldn't stop bringing up that he wanted me to drink with him. It just made me uncomfortable. I just feel like drinking has no pros, only cons and I feel like it isn't my thing and not fun. My brother is only being nice. We're quite close and he said, "I don't want you to face peer pressure, give into it, and drink at some party (next year at college). I would rather have you drink with me first." He has good intentions, but I simply don't want to drink! He won't let it go.

Now I feel horrible and I may make up the excuse that I take medication that I cannot take with alcohol to get people off my back.

Is it okay to not drink alcohol? How can I stop my persistent brother from wanting to drink with me? Is the "road of my social life" going to be tough since I may make people uncomfortable since I won't drink?

  • Would you be angry if your younger sibling followed your career path?

My brother and I are 3 years apart and pretty close you could say. I went to the same high school and now I am going to the same college. I already felt bad about going to the same college, but he seemed fine with it. He recently chose to major in business administration. For a long time, I wanted to major in dietetics or sustainable business... but then I researched and found that I may have an interest in marketing and public relations.

What's the problem? Well, my brother is very interested in marketing and took the classes. I may major in his same major. Granted, he'll only be in the school for a year or two while I am there, but I feel kinda bad. I didn't mean to follow in his footsteps!

Do you think he'll find it weird or annoying that I want to major in the same thing? Also, do you think he'll be angry that I want to work in marketing as well? I don't want it to seem like I am deliberately following everything he does!

  • If I major in business administration, can I still work in just marketing?

my college doesn't offer a marketing major. I really want to do marketing and public relations, will business administration & management cover that and allow me to work in marketing positions?

    2 AnswersMarketing & Sales9 years ago
  • My college does not offer a marketing major, if I major in business administration...?

is it possible for it to have an emphasis on marketing?

I have an interest in marketing and public relations, what can I do since my college does not have a specific major on these? The business majors my college offers are: business administration, accounting & business dual major, communication dual major, international business, and sustainable business.

  • I want to become a nutritionist or dietitian, but I suck at science?

Ever since I started to work out, watch what I eat, and help my dad after his heart attack as a freshman in high school, I began to develop an interest in nutrition. I love fitness magazines and I would love to help just one single person, whether he/she is obese and needs to lose weight or to help someone face anorexia.

However, I have two problems. 1 big problem, the other is small.

small problem: my college doesn't have a nutrition or dietetics major. I've researched around and some people say to become one of the above, you need a lot of chemistry. Then would I major in chemistry? But I feel like that wouldn't help me advise people on how to eat.. I suppose I could transfer, but I adore my small college. :(

Big problem: I. despise. science. I nearly failed ap biology and chemistry in high school. How in the world am I going to pass chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, & microbiology?

So, should I give up on this dream because even though I have a passion for it, I simply suck at science? There is no way I could pass or maintain a 3.0. I need to make a decision soon...

I can't think of other interests that I have that could be associated with a career. ;(

  • What should I major in?

I know lots of people ask this Q. Don't give me "you have plenty of time to figure it out" answers. That won't help me in any way.

Anyway, my college offers a limited amount of majors. Then I looked up majors at MSU, a big school and STILL couldn't find anything that catches my eye.

I am not interested in much... I like to be in nature, I like nutrition and want to help people with their health (but I suck at biology) and... i can't think of anything else. :(

I wanted to become a nutritionist, but I saw the classes you take and there is NO WAY I can pass. I barely passed my biology class and chemistry in hs, how am I suppose to pass molecular biology and organic chem in college?

I wanted to major in sustainable business (basically, it's business, but helping businesses go green), but my dad works in business, so I know what it is like and I feel like it won't make me happy. Making profit for a company is definitely not the way to a happy job for me...

I looked into athletic training, but it's basically being a fake doctor... i don't have any passion for it. It seems like a bad major anyway.

I don't want to major in zoology or anything like that. I'm not that into animals.

I keep looking on my college's list of majors and it just makes me depressed... if I don't like science and business, there is really nothing left except useless majors (history, journalism, etc.)

What should I do? Do you recommend any major or a helpful website?

  • Should I stop revealing where I am going to attend college to people at school?

I am going to be attending a small, private school. I go to a small high school of 300 students and the college isn't that much bigger. So, pretty much everyone knows everyone - or at least heard of everyone.

Anyways, one of the fun parts of being a senior in high school, is all the excitement towards college. Therefore, we have been talking where we are going to college. I want to leave everything high school behind.

Now, here comes the problem. I talk about it quite a bit and I am not careful about who's listening (because sometimes we talk about college in a group). Now, 3 people, whom I despise, got the idea about going to my college because of me blabbing about how good it is. It is a free country, so of course they can apply, but... I am afraid of them being clingy again, but in college.

I don't want them in my life and I *know* they will attach themselves to me at orientation or the first week of school.

So, should I just shut up about talking about college and resist the exciting college conversations? Should I lie about where I am going?

I know I am being a big time snob, but... I am only friends with those people because they had no friends. A few months later, I realized why they didn't have friends. I thought it was fine because we're leaving for college, so I didn't think I would have to deal with them for any longer than 4 years. BUT... I didn't know they would copy me! They would NEVER have known about this small, private school, unless I mentioned it, which I did.

  • Should I attend graduation bash?

I'm a senior in high school. I want to get outta here A.S.A.P. Senior year is expensive (senior pictures, dress for graduation, gown for graduation, prom, grad bash).

In case you don't know, graduation bash is an event that happens the night of graduation. Everyone goes on a bus and we don't know where we're going. Past ones, you often go somewhere to eat, somewhere to swim, and then somewhere else fun (bowling ,laser tag, etc.) but as a class.

I asked my friends if they were going. They all assumed it was free, but it is actually $60. I only have one friend who isn't going (she is spending money on prom instead). My other problem is, since basically the entire class is going since I attend a rich school, I may become the third-wheel. I will get squished out of the group. It's easy when there are 3 or 4 people hanging out, but when it is 8 or 9, like it is when everyone is together, I end up not being able to talk to my good friends.

The reasons why I am hesitant is not only the above reasons, but for the MONEY. My parents are paying for 2 kids in college and me at a private high school and next year college. I don't want to spend any unnecessary money for we are facing financial troubles. I CAN get the money from my parents, but I would feel guilty, especially if it turns out to be a bad evening... Still have to buy my gown and dress for graduation. Not enough time to get a part-time job. I'm stuck!

If I don't attend, my friends will know, though. I am not attending prom either, which I am fine with.

    What should I do?

  • Do breakups make girls go crazy?

I have no experience in the dating field, so I am wondering. A fellow student keeps clogging up my facebook by posting messages to her bf. I don't quite understand it. It's high school and we're off to college in 7 months. Anyway, she wrote "WHAT HAPPENED TO US!?!" under pictures of them and posted a Jason Mraz song with the lyrics "I will find a way to you if it kills me... after all we've been through...". It is just me or she is going off the deep end? Will this someday happen to me because I definitely don't want to act like that? I'm still wondering why they haven't "defriended" each other. Anyway, it is not my business, I will simply choose the options to hide their posts, but I was just wondering if that is normal behavior.

  • Do I have to go to Prom?

I believe it to be overrated. I hate high school now and I am sick of it. Everyone keeps pressuring me to go to prom because "it only happens once" or "you'll remember it the rest of your life". For one, I don't like dances, especially my high school dances. I either end up leaving early or desperately wanting to go home. My school has a history of bad dances.

I keep getting pressured to. I know for a fact, I won't get invited by a boy. I don't want to go and I will remember my 9th and 10th grade years because those were the best. I just don't think prom is worth the time, effort, and money. Is it okay if I don't go? Will I be judged? They probably won't notice if I am there or not.

  • Do you think this was rude? Should I tell someone?

I got offered a tutoring job. It wasn't for money, just volunteer hours, which I needed.

I was tutoring a girl in a hard advanced science class. I took the class last year, so I let her borrow my old study guide (which I bought for $20 last year) the first day we met. I tutored her for 30 minutes. I asked her questions and it turned out, she didn't read the chapters, which was vital to the class! I gave her tips, helped her review, etc. and agreed to meet in the library every Wednesday. Next Wednesday came and I tutored her. The next two Wednesdays, including the one before exams, she stood me up. She didn't tell me despite seeing me in the hallway all week. I waited in the library for 30 minutes twice. After exams and break, I tried to find her, but kept missing her since the schedules changed. I asked her friend which was in one of my classes. She told me, "Oh, [insert student's name here] said she pays attention in class now, so she doesn't need you."

That was her excuse? She couldn't tell me it to my face or at least friend me on facebook and tell me? She didn't care about her class and wasted my time... she still has my study guide. I wish I could have given it to someone who actually cares.

Was this rude or am I just overreacting? What should I do now? I need to report my hours to the librarian, should I tell her snippets of what happened or should I just let it go?

  • Do I still need to wear flip-flops when taking a shower in suite-style bathrooms?

I know you need them for community bathrooms, but do you need to wear them for suit-style bathrooms which you share w/3 other people and have to maintain it yourselves?

  • What should I do about this girl who interrupts people all the time?

My school is doing a volunteer day where the seniors go to do service projects. We are sorted into different groups going to different sites. My group contains my best friend and a girl named Shelby (along with 3 other people). She is nice and all, but her problem is she INTERRUPTS my best friend and I all the time. I try to include her in the conversation, but once she talks, you cannot get her to stop. I will be in the middle of a sentence and she will start talking causing me to stop and listen to her. It annoys me so much. I am still nice to her of course, but is there any way I can avoid this? Or do anything? It sucks because it kinda ruins my time with my best friend, who I haven't hung out with in a long time! If we get extra time or do a task which we can talk during, it's going to suck!! Help!!

  • What's better to pair w/sustainable business major?

I want to help businesses go green and stuff like that. I don't want to become a scientist. Should I minor in environmental studies or environmental science? What is the difference? Which one would be better as a minor w/sustainable business? I suck at science, but I suppose if it will help me greatly I may go through with it..

  • Is a degree in sustainable business promising?

Is it a good degree? Will it help me get a job? What would be a good minor to pair with it (a language? environmental science? environmental studies? something in business?) ?

The college i am attending this fall has the major of sustainable business since 2005. I am hoping if I choose to study it that the field will grow.

I am looking at my options. I was once obsessed with getting an international business degree, but seeing as how it isn't too specific like marketing or accounting, I feel it won't help me get a job.... but what about sustainable business?
