I've boxed for several years. I was a 2x All American for Lock Haven University (central PA) and I also trained in South Philly with some very good fighters. I received my coaching certification and I do some boxing personal training. I also write for Fight News Unlimited. You can access my articles at http://unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress/?cat=23 You will see info for our radio show on the right hand side. We are live every Thursday at 8:00 pm EST where I serve as the co-host. We cover both boxing and mma on the show but I am strictly the boxing expert.

  • Imagine this Hall of Fame Rivalry? Your Opinion?

I was thinking about this today and I plan to write an article for Fight News Unlimited regarding this question, giving both sides of the story.

Every year when they have the Hall of Fame inductions in Canastota, there is usually one fighter who gets the top billing. Just imagine if Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins both decide to retire after their fight this past weekend. Both are certain 1st ballot HOF'ers. Who gets the top billing?

Jones has multiple titles and an Olympic medal. Hopkins had more longevity and never suffered a punishing loss. They are 1-1 against each other. Jones was a more dynamic athletic. Hopkins was an old-school technician.

    Who do you pick?

  • Ranking the Greatest Heavyweight Title Fights?

I wrote this for fun a few years ago and I always like to stir up the debate every so often. The Top 10 Greatest Heavyweight Title Fights. Where does "The Fight" (Ali-Frazier I) rank vs "The Thrilla in Manilla" (Ali-Frazier III)? Does a shocking upset mandate that a fight be ranked as "great"? Why do I have Douglas-Tyson but not Spinx-Ali I or Braddock-Baer?

What are your Top Ten Heavyweight Title Fights of All-Time

Here is my article with my personal list - http://unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress/?p=38

  • Do you like Bernard Hopkins? Why or Why Not?

I've always been a big B-Hop fan, ever since the days he was fighting 6 round fill-in fights on USA Tuesday Night Fights or even the occasional show on BET.

I liked him first because he was a Philly guy but the more I watched him, the more I appreciated the things he did in the ring and his dedication to training. I know a lot of people don't like him because he sometimes can be abrasive (throwing the Puerto Rican flag on the ground for example) or battling with promoters, or just some of the things he says hyping up fights.

Whether you like him or not, please let me know your unbiased thoughts on him. I've also included a link to an article that was written in a Philadephia newspaper last year which I think really embodies the true human being Bernard Hopkins.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ki-negler110...

I liked and respected Bernard Hopkins through his whole career. And after reading the above article, I consider him a true class act and a credit to the human race. I wish more athletes and human beings in general were more like him.

  • Prediction for Pacquiao-Cotto - Compare yours with me?

Manny Pacquiao is the hottest boxer on the planet today. He brings an exciting combination of speed, power, and charisma and he has set the boxing world on fire in the last year. Miguel Cotto once held a similar distinction. He was the next great Puerto Rican sensation, a willing brawler who didn’t climb obstacles. He bashed through them. Even though a devastating loss has left him as potentially vulnerable. Cotto has the physical strength and punching power to reign supreme again. Can Cotto halt Pacquiao’s meteoric ascent to the top and ruin a potential super fight with Floyd Mayweather? Or, will Pacquiao burn through Cotto on his way to a money fight with “Money” Mayweather?

I want to compare predictions with others on this fight. I have a preview article written at http://unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress/?p=5024

Compare your predictions with mine and let me know who you think will win Saturday's Super Fight!

  • In their primes - Bernard Hopkins (2001) vs Carlos Monzon (1975)?

Carlos Monzon had the record for middleweight title defenses. He was tough, strong, and vicious. Bernard Hopkins broke that record in 2002. Many see Hopkins now as a boring defensive fighter but in his prime, The Executioner carried a sharp axe.

What would happen if they met in their primes???

I wrote an article with an analysis of what would happen. My article is available at http://unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress/?p=2212

Let me know what you think would happen! And don't forget to vote in the poll at the bottom of the article. Thanks!!!

  • IBF Cruiserweight Title - Cunningham vs Adamek - Who wins?

I just saw the press release that Steve "USS" Cunningham will be defending the IBF Cruiserweight Championship vs Tomasz Adamek.

Cunningham is 21-1 w/ 11 KO's. His only loss was a split decision loss in Poland against a fighter whose name I will not even try to spell. He avenged that defeat and won the title. Adameck is 35-1 w/ 24 KO's. He won two close and blood-soaked decisions over Paul Briggs, before losing to Chad Dawson.

The fight date and location has not been set yet. What are your predictions for this one?

I will be interviewing Steve Cunningham on my radio show tomorrow night (Thursday - September 25) at 8:00 pm EST. Do you have any questions you would like for me to ask?

If you are interested in tuning into the show, it is broadcast online at www.unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress (the info for the show is on the right hand side). You can join our chat room and send questions for me to ask while doing the call.

  • The Pazmanian Devil Vinny Paz?

    Hey,

Remember "The Pazmanian Devil" Vinny Paz (formerly Pazienza). He was my favorite fighter for the longest time and I greatly admired his courageous comeback from a broken neck.

Vinny Paz will be a guest on my radio show tomorrow night (Thursday at 8:00 pm EST). I am listing an outline of questions to ask him and topics to discuss.

Any other Vinny Paz fans out there? What do you think his final legacy will be? Do you think he is worthy of being in the Hall of Fame?

The show is available live online at www.unlimitedfightnews.com/wordpress - there is info on the right-hand side on how to listen live and join our chat room. The show is also archived on the site so you can listen at a later time.

Do you have any questions you want me to ask? And please don't request anything insulting or derogatory? Thanks!!!

    Hey,

No doubt that Ken Shamrock is his prime was awesome! But he seems to be past his prime.

I will be talking with Ken tonight on my radio show. Any questions you want me to present to him? About his UFC days? About his tenure wrestling in the World Wrestling Federation?

  • Naming a Mascot?

    Hi,

I just purchased a stuffed monkey in Phillies gear AKA a "Rally Monkey" but I am having trouble naming it. And that is where I need your help. I thought of the name “Chester” (like Chester Copperpot from Goonies). But then I felt he needed a Phillies oriented name so I was kicking around the ideas of:

    “Whitey” (for Richie Ashburn)

    “Harry” (for Harry Kalas)

    “Schmitty” (for Mike Schmidt)

    “Krukker” (for John Kruk)

    “Jose” (for Jose Mesa)

"Bob Boone" - My colleague came up with this one because Bob Boone sounds like Baboon

PS – My friend Jeff already used the name “Tugger” for his cat so I can’t use that one.

I would like to have the name christened by ASAP so we can (hopefully) end this dreadful slump!!! GO PHILLIES!!!
