Around 2 months ago, a friend of mine had a dog that was found dead in the yard. They knew nothing of the dog being sick, in fact, hours before he was playing happily in the yard. They looked the dog over for evidence of snake bite or trauma but found none.

Two weeks later, another one was found under the same conditions. Dead with no signs of illness or injury.

A month ago, my friend took her newly deceased brothers chocolate lab into her home as there was no one else to keep her. She was in a pen outside and was doing fine when she arrived, but in less than a week was sick. She was taken to the vet who called that evening to say the dog could come home. She was still vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. She died the next day and the vet could find nothing wrong with her.

Two weeks ago, her daughter brought a puppy home that was kept inside and out. He began to be sick. My friend used the IV on the puppy and even though he is still very weak, he appears to be getting better.

The dogs were all loved, fed and watered daily and by no means abused. They live in a small subdivision in the country but there is no real crops growing in the area. She has plants, but not any that would poison animals. She also has a duck, 3 cats and one more chihuahua that are unharmed by all this.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be?
