  • Why do animals not need x-ray protection?

So one of the YouTube channels I watch, Vet Ranch is a non-profit vet organization. In it, Dr. Matt basically makes videos about animals that viewer donations help save, and a lot of the time this involves an x-ray.

However, the animals never wear any lead, which confuses me. Every time I've had a fracture (wrist, collarbone), I've been required to wear lead to protect myself, but why is that animals do not?

And just to make sure that it's not this one clinic, I did find a pamphlet about radiography from New Zealand:

  • Can someone help me crack this code?

    http://www.reddit.com/r/codes/comments/2632kd/assi...

I'd post the entire thing here, but the code itself is so long that I felt it more practical to redirect to a page I already put up. Basically, I need help with RSA, and someone was nice enough to help me out. However, he says that the next part requires programming - and none of my team are that good. Could someone help me out?

  • What's the best mic for recording live concert bands?

I don't mean a professional, studio recording. I'm part of my high school's band program, and I'd love to get a good mic for decent recordings of my performances. This will be an input mic for a Nikon D5100. Not sure how we can get the mic to stay put, but we can probably jury-rig something.

  • Which Pokémon episode is this?

It's an episode near the end of Master Quest, and it's evidence for PokéShipping.

On a boat, Brock and Misty are discussing romance (because Brock, that's why) and Misty says something that I can't quite recall (it was something along the lines of "X really likes Y). Brock asks "How can you tell?", and Misty suddenly goes all nervous and says "Because somebody told me".

  • Why can't I taste anything?

I can still taste the five basic tastes - sweet, salty, spicy, etc., but I can't taste details, like the difference between lemons and limes. The weird thing is, my nose isn't congested. I've had a cold for the past week or so, but I can breathe pretty easily through my nose.

I should also mention, I can't smell anything either, except when I passed by a steakhouse.

  • Who is this soldier (possibly Korean War)?

This was a story I read a while ago. I don't remember which two countries were at war, but one of them was definitely the United States. I believe this was during the Korean War, but I'm not certain.

Anyway, this was the soldier's last stand. Basically, he was so good at providing cover for his teammates that when the platoon returned to his position, they found his body - cleaned and dressed - with a note from the enemy saying "Good soldier. Take him home."

The problem is, I can't remember the exact wording of the note. I've tried different variants and looking them up on Google, but haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know this soldier from history or just random trivia?

  • What's the best way to convert fat into muscle?

Not literally; I know fat doesn't directly convert into muscle, and that it's actually you losing fat and gaining muscle. Anyway, I want to know what's one of the best workouts for this. My goal is to be fit enough for West Point, and I have about two years to do that. I'd like workouts to be an hour maximum, as my schedule for the year is going to be very busy.

Also, could you include how I could change my diet? Thanks in advance.

  • Which scale would I use for 'Gonna Fly Now'?

Which scale would I use for this song (the 'Rocky' theme song)? I've tried Em, Dm, and Dm pentatonic, but I haven't found a good fit to solo on.

  • What are some good left-handed acoustic guitars for beginners?

My girlfriend is starting guitar this summer, and as with most people she's starting with acoustic. Usually I have a list of acoustics I'd consult to match with a player's skill level and budget (or I'd just go in and try out the guitars), but she's left-handed and I'm right-handed. My retailer's website is also not very well done, with an inconvenient search bar and what I suspect to be outdated databases (they still have a Martin OMCPA1!). So I ask now; what are some decent lefty acoustic guitars for beginners? I don't know her budget yet, but I would estimate it to be 6000 - 7000 HKD, which is 773 - 901 USD, 505 - 590 GBP, and 592 - 690 EUR.

  • What is this pain I'm feeling?

This morning, I woke up to a pretty strong pain in my left calf. It kind of felt like it was contracting and pulling my muscle into the bone. It lasted for about a minute or two, and during that time I could feel one of the muscles sticking out (as in, intensely flexed). The pain subsided after a while, but I'm still unable to walk properly (it's been about 12 hours now). From what I've found online, it seems to be a muscle knot and/or a cramp, but I'm still uncertain as to what it is.

I WAS doing exercise last night, if that helps.

  • What are some good-quality 12-string guitars?

I'm looking for a 12-string guitar (no duh. The title says it all. Get to the point, Max), but I don't know what to get. I'd like one with a deep, rich sound, a cutaway, and within my budget (but I won't be too sad about spending a little more if it means I get a good one). So far, I've got my sights set on an Ibanez V7212E, which I played around with in my local music store.

In terms of preference, I'd prefer electro-acoustic over acoustic over electric. No nylon-strings, please.

My budget is 3000 HKD, which is about 390 USD, 260 GBP, and 300 EUR.

  • Why can't my friends join my Minecraft server?

So I've set everything up - a static IP, a DNS, all that jazz. But my friends are unable to join my server. Yes, I set up port forwarding. My friend and I share an account. I'm able to join while sitting right next to the server, and she's able to join halfway across the city. My other friend, however, is NOT able to join; she IS using a premium account, so I have no idea what's going on. My brother is able to join while connected to the same network.

I DID add my brother and I to the ops list; does that change anything?

Also, what does the whitelist indicate?

  • What are some good acoustic songs?

Hi, I have a performance soon and I would like help in choosing some acoustic songs. My singer is female and has a nice voice for rock and pop, and she can go quite high. I would consider myself as an intermediate/advanced player, which should open the scope up a little bit. There are no other performers - just us two as a duet.

I strongly dislike most pop songs, but if one sounds good acoustically and if my singer can sing it then I'll take a look at it.

These songs are songs I performed last year, so please don't suggest them:

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day

    Dear God - Avenged Sevenfold

Hero of War - Rise Against

This is the one song we have chosen so far:

Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison

    This is what I get:

    -Fire selector

    -Burst mode:

    Bursts at the slower RoF

    2- burst mode:

Two shots at the faster RoF

    Safety

    Am I correct?

  • How do you properly set up an overdrive pedal?

Earlier today, I bought an Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9DX. I hooked it up to my Marshall TSL601 combo amp (meaning I plugged the output jack of the pedal into the input jack of the amp), and plugged my guitar into the pedal. With the combo amp on clean, and with the pedal engaged, I don't get any overdriven tone - even with all pedal knobs turned up. There's a drastic difference when I engage my amp's lead mode, but I want it so that without the pedal I have a clean sound, and with it I get an overdrive sound. Am I doing something wrong?

  • How do I create a piecewise function picture?

I need to create a picture using piecewise functions, and I am stuck. It doesn't matter what the picture is about, as long as it's appropriate. Requirements are: at least 12 functions, at least 12 transformations, and a wide variety of functions.

  • What is the compatibility for amp heads/cabinets?

I know that the cab needs the same or higher wattage than the head. But what about impedance?

    Is it:

-Head greater than or equal to cabinet

    or

-Cabinet greater than or equal to head?
