What would you do? Catch 22.?
I have worked for a medium size doctors office for 4-5 years. They have been really nice and small problems, but nothing that I couldn't resolve. My husband and I had a baby 5 months ago. I took off about one month before he was born and six weeks after. Upon returning to work there were a lot of changes to my "Job Title" I'm a Medical Assistant-Back Office. Also, I'm technically employed through a staffing agency, but I work for a primary care office. I will make a long story short since coming back my employer has been logging all my appointment times. Being weird about me taking my son to the doctors. Asking me to make his appointments at certain times. Telling me how many hours I have of sick time. In my opinion acting like my son is such a problem for them. Like they didn't expect him. They knew he was coming they through a little baby shower for me. In addition, I haven't been taking a lot of time off. I'm talking like a doctors visit once every two months. So a few months have passed and I've just delt with the situation. New problem I lifted a patient out of a wheel chair to get her weight. This is something I do all the time. However, this time the patient is dead weight. I stopped asked for help and when we lifted her my back started to burn and it has never been the same. I waited to tell anyone I figured it would go away I just pulled something. It didn't just go away and I called the doctor I worked for the same day at lunch and told him. He said oh it will get better. So I waited next day didn't get better so I talked to my employer/staffing agency and she was very upset I didn't call them the same day but gave me work comp ins information and sent me to the doctor. So far they have done x-rays and physical therapy. I have refused meds due to breast feeding. There is still tingling down my legs and arms. Also, I would like to note I worked through the pain and injury. I never took time off. I'm not trying to screw the system. I pay taxes and am not like that. So since that happened about a month ago they have been documenting several "problems" at work. They are in my opinion looking for things wrong. Also, we just had a Christmas party and they gave all of us a x-mas bonus. I got fifty dollars and later found out everyone got more than I did. I realize they don't have to give x-mas bonus and am very grateful for what they did give. So I went to my work comp doctor and told him that I thought they were going to fire me and showed him the notes they sent to me talked to him about the tingling and pain I'm still getting. He took me off for a couple days unpaid. My questions is what should I do? I'm looking for another job, but there are only two posted and I have applied. But in the mean time if I get fired I leave my family in a pickle. I loved this company I put so much time into it and they want me gone. I can't go higher they will keep the manager over me. They just bought her a trip to Hawaii. Please any advice would be great. Thank You!!!
