In the Christie Bridgegate scandal do all (financial) roads lead to/thru David Samson ?
David Samson apptd by Christie, running the NJ Port authority, makes more state money than Christie. And much more thru his lawfirm which has greatly increased it's revenue due to decisions made at the port authority and political pressures from the Christie admin .. placing pressures on local politicians to approve developments belonging to D.Samsons clients.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/02/19/1278946/-... Is D.Samson liable for "giving" away land leases to his clients for $1 , when the state of NJ previously earned $900, 000.00/yr for leasing the same land.
3 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWas the first month of Affordable Care enrollment successful?
RomneyCare was considered a success, and even Romney recommended it as a template for Natl Healthcare. During the startup of RomneyCare only a hundred people (100-120?) signed up, Affordable Care has had over 100,000 signups.
In Calif , more that 30,000 people signed up. And states with their own websites are doing well , like Calif & Kentucky.
1 AnswerOther - Politics & Government8 years agoTed Cruz complains about Affordable Care Act and it's favorability increases. Is he a double agent ?
Or it it just a happy coicidence, that he is dragging the GOP down with him. Has anybody in the GOP noticed this trend?
15 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWill changing demographics erase the Republican party?
Or do some of them have the ability to adapt ? An aging white population , and their inability to appeal to younger voters is an obvious sign of them becoming insignificant.
Has the southern strategy become a suicidal path for them?
10 AnswersPolitics8 years agoAre Mitch McConnell & Boehner too old to lead the Republican party?
Is that why they are unable to lead their party to bipartisan solutions that would improve the image of the GOP ?
5 AnswersGovernment8 years agoHave any modern countries been destroyed by Nat'l Healthcare ?
The majority of developed countries do have Nat'l healthcare, wouldn't there be clear examples of failure. At the same time there are working models so it shouldn't be hard for the US to duplicate an existing system that already works.
7 AnswersGovernment8 years agoHas the GOP started a DramaStorm they cannot control, their approval keeps going down.?
And Affordable Care websites , even though they are not working very well, have approval that is increasing. Has the GOP improved people's opinions about Affordable Care , as a result of their govt shutdown?
10 AnswersPolitics8 years agoObama asked GOP delegates to meet and negociate, shouldn't he have also asked Dem delegates to attend?
It is very magnanimous of Obama to invite only the GOP, when the Dems will need to vote on these ideas also. I do believe that 20 Republicans should also be accompanied by 10 Democrats, so all concerned parties are present.
4 AnswersGovernment8 years agoDo we need third parth arbitration or hostage negociators to resolve the government shutdown?
Since both sides are unable to work with each other, doesn't it make sense to hand it over to a third party?
2 AnswersGovernment8 years agoWhy does that GOP keep saying voters chose to have more Republicans in the House.?
They fail to acknowledge that the popular vote was Democratic. And only gerrymandered districts allow them to keep a House majority .
3 AnswersGovernment8 years agoIsn't Gerrymandering the root that allows a minority to shut down the government.?
Without gerrymandering, the GOP would not have control of the House, they lost (President, Senate, & House) all the popular votes in 2012. The gerrymandered districts also allow extreme groups to ignore their own voters.
And the gerrymandered districts encourage politicians to remain polarized.
3 AnswersGovernment8 years agoWhy doesn't Boener have a vote on a clean CR?
The GOP has wasted time on 37 votes to repeal Affordable Care, so they certainly have plenty of time.
3 AnswersElections8 years agoShouldn't Immigration reform include Cuban Immigration?
The Rparty supports special priviledges for Cubans that other immigrants have never received. Shouldn't the immigration guidelines be even and fair for everyone? The Wet foot Dry foot policy, allows any illegal Cuban immigrant to have residency and a path to citizenship by just touching US land.
"... Cubans receive unique and highly favorable treatment in terms of admission criteria, speed of admission, and government benefits extended even to Cubans who arrive with no visa and make no claim of persecution, and who would be treated as illegal immigrants if they came from any other place."
3 AnswersImmigration8 years agoWill Superman qualify for citizenship under the Dream Act?
He's an illegal alien (really alien) brought here by no choice of his own as a young child, and he has only know the US as his place of residence. How would he be deported if his request for citizenship failed?
5 AnswersImmigration8 years agoRepublicans are losing the popular vote, is anything happening that will improve voter views of Republicans?
Republicans have lost the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 presidential elections. In 2012 they lost the popular vote for President, for the Senate, and for the House. They only retain a majority of House seats due to gerrymandered districts. With changing demographics it's just a matter of time for these districts to crumble.
5 AnswersElections8 years agoDo you agree with Grover Norquist, using immigration reform to improve the economy.?
“As the United States became the most immigrant-friendly, welcoming nation in the world, we’ve also become the richest, most prosperous, most stable nation in the world,” he said. “It’s one of our competitive advantages that we do immigration better than anyone else in the world.”
