  • Itching problem with Maltipoo?

First of all, I'm not looking for hate ON the breed of a Maltese x Poodle mix. I'm looking for experienced people who can help identify the problem WITH my Maltipoo. Please be considerate. That being said, here's some information:

My Maltipoo's name is Daisy. She's approximately 1.5 years old. I've had her for 2 1/2 months. Over the past 3-4 days, she's been itching constantly- to the point of bleeding. She sleeps, walks, and itches. Before the last 3-4 days, she rarely itched- with the exception of a small itch here and there.

What's the problem? Does she have fleas, mites, ticks, etc? Is it a case of eczema? A rash? Does it require immediate veterinary care or are there some home remedies I can take to prevent itching? I appreciate any and all answers or suggestions.

Thank you for reading my post.

  • I need help with my Budgie!?

I have a Budgie named Sunny. Most of the time, he's chirping, wide-eyed, and excited! He shares his cage with a female friend (not his mate) named Mei Mei. They don't have a nest box. When I got them from a Budgie owner, they used to live outside in a big aviary with other Budgies and cockatiels. So most of the time, Sunny and Mei Mei are outside in their cage during the day. I bring them inside at night. Today when I went to feed them at 5:15 pm (California time) Sunny was all fluffed up and looked like he had fell in water. His left eye was swollen and he wasn't being chirpy. His wings also looked clipped and I'm the only one who should clip them. Mei Mei looked normal: all happy!

So I'm not sure what it could be. Here's what I've come up with:

Could he have fell in his water? (I don't put too much water in his bowl. It's a plastic container I got from petco).

Could he and Mei Mei gotten into a fight?

The other day, I saw a possum attempting to get into their home. I scared it away. They always have a shirt over the top and I noticed prints. I washed the shirt They're using a temporary towel right now. Could the possum have done something?

And there's stray cats in my area but the spacing between the bars in their cage isn't wide at all.

    What about his wings?

There was no blood on him or in his litter tray. I saw what looked like flight wings in the litter tray but every once in a while I see them. There were more than normal. When I put in food, he kind of hobbled down the perches and took a couple bites. Then no more. That's not normal for him.

Could it be mites? Overfeeding? Drowning?

  • Can Parakeets overeat?

I have two Parakeets, Mei Mei [ f ] and Sunny [ m ] , who are a delightful pair to have around! I bring them out underneath my gazebo when the weather is nice and take them in when it gets dark. Lately, it seems that they have been eating more than usual, so is it possible that they can overeat?

I will give the best answer to the most thorough explanation within an hour or two.

  • Parakeet & Rabbit Question?

I have two Parakeets, Sunny [ m ] & Mei Mei [ f ] and a Rabbit, Mark [ m ]. I know that in their natural habitat during winter time: my Parakeets would be migrating to better areas with more food and Mark would be collecting food to hibernate.

As it is, I have noticed my Parakeets eating quite more than usual & the same for Mark. In addition, it seems like they are also generally more active than usual.

    1) Would this be caused by 'migration' or 'hibernation'?

    2) If so, what should I do to take action?

Please be clear & stay on topic; I will give the best answer to the first thorough explanation of the above. Thank you.

  • Rabbit & Bird Question !?

Rabbit Question : I have a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit named Mark. I got him when he was 8 months old from the San Diego Humane Society located at 5500 Gaines Street. Mark is now 2 years old. Today, I was examining his urine/droppings for record, as all good rabbit owners should do, and his urine did not follow up to specs today. It was a diluted, yellow color, as it should be. However, on top was a vivid red liquid, looking like blood. Upon further inspection, I noted that the two liquids were separated, like if you put oil and water together.

What does this mean & does this propose I take Mark to a veterinarian?

Bird Question: I decided that it would be nice to arrange an acquaintenance for my two Parakeets and Mark. I had a spray bottle to spray Mark if things got out of hand and a shirt to separate them. I had a steady grip on my Parakeet, and held out her back to Mark for him to adjust to her scent. He was a bit too fast for me and nabbed one of her back feathers. She made a small chirp, but otherwise acted normal as usual. The feather was not one of her flight feathers, and she seemed unaffected.

Will this affect her overall being in any way?

  • Urgent Bird Problem! Please Help!?

I just got two parakeets from Craigslist on August 7th, 2011, Sunday. I went to PetCo for bird seed and a cuttle bone. On the way, I picked up a free pamphlet about medium parakeets. One of the common health issues lists chlamydiosis.Symptoms include: appetite loss, fluffed feathers, nasal discharge, and green stool. The suggested action is to seek avian veterinary attention. I have been paying attention for these common illnesses. The male has green and black stool and fluffed feathers, not smooth feathers! I have a small parakeet, but I was wondering if the illness still applies to small parakeets? What is normal parakeet stool supposed to look like? Is there anything I can do to solve this problem before trying the avian vet? Can an experienced bird owner or avian vet please tell me any information on how I can solve this problem? In your source, please list where you got your information or if you have solved this problem before or are an avian veterianarian. Please help me! I need urgent/immediate assist!
