Just for fun. Is Bill Wyman a good bassist?
Or does he suck? Please back up your answer.

I heard he lives in Frisco Tx. Is that correct?
3 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoWill replacing my laptop battery bring my computer back to life?
My battery has been dead for a year, but my computer "died" recently because I think I left it unplugged accidentally the other night. When I try to turn the power on, it lights up for a second, the fan comes on... and then it just does that over and over ad infinitum. Thanks for your help.
5 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoMiles experts, can you help me with sources for a paper?
I have everything I need for biographical purposes.
I suck when it comes to using search engines. I do, however have access to the UNT and TWU electronic and tangible resources.
Specifically, I am looking for books or articles that will help me back up the statement that Miles influenced the playing of Mike Stern, Chris Botti, Chick, etc.
Any books or articles or scholarly papers that compare Miles' playing with Parker or anyone else who has influenced him will also come in handy.
Finally, I would like to better understand the "periods" bop, post bop, cool, modal, fusion... so any books really going into depth of these would be useful to me.
Thank You!
2 AnswersJazz9 years agoKeyboardists, can you recommend a decent tone generator?
I have an older Yamaha synth that has pretty crappy sounds by today's standards. I'd also be open minded to a book on how to edit my own voices if there's something like that is available.
Thanks
1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoWhere did Ruby shoot Oswald?
Specifically, I am wondering if it was in that spot that is a parking garage or service entrance for what is now the municipal court building in Dallas, on Main Street?
1 AnswerHistory1 decade agoChanges to the bridge in Sleigh Ride?
I've got the verses and the "giddyup" part, but I'm having trouble with the other part. Does anyone have a link to a good chart? The piano arrangements I have (3 of them) don't have this part included for some reason. Thanks for your help.
For further clarification, It's the part where it goes to major VI, and has the horse whip or whatever.
Thanks for your help.
1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoA funny recycling question, anyone?
Is it possible that part of a potato I ate tonight used to be part of a dead cat? Is it possible that there are particles from cowshit in a freshly grown tomato I bought at the supermarket? I understand that all the chemistries of the earth decompose or mix with each other. Anyone wanna comment?

9 AnswersHunting1 decade agoAm I "stuck" with a crappy sustain pedal?
I bought the el cheapo m-audio pedal new for about $15. The screw keeps coming out the right side of it. I put it back in, which seems to help for about 30 seconds.
It sticks, holding the chord longer than I want. Frantically, I press down on it 3 times. This gets me back to normal, but usually blows my concentration.
Thank You for your comments/ suggestions.
2 AnswersJazz1 decade agoIf you have canned food in your car...?
and it gets to be around 105F ouside for a few days, then 80F for a day or even 60F, then goes back up to 106F for a couple of days, is the food still good to eat. I'm talking about items such as CBAD ravioli, Progresso soup, canned asparagus, etc.

You needn't worry about spacing them for rhythm, I'll work it out. This is an incredibly beautiful tune.

2 AnswersJazz1 decade agoTritone minor? Like in Sir Duke? Or Watching the Wheels? Explanations?
I always wondered about this chord. I have played Sir Duke for a long time and never understood this function. Just recently, I have been listening to Watching the Wheels by John Lennon where it is obvious this chord pulls you into a minor iv and a bVI (with our ears possibly filling in the rest). I would love to hear some ideas about this and from whom they might have taken the progression.
Thanks for you response.

1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoGuitar lick in Soul Man - How do you mute?
I'm trying to play that little triadic lick in Soul Man and it's a ***** to mute all the other strings 4,5,6. Any suggestions? I am also having trouble keeping my strum confined to 1,2,3.
Thanks a ton for your help.
2 AnswersJazz1 decade agoCould someone please recommend a LH fingering for the basic boogie-woogie?
You know, a stereotypical C blues Jerry Lee Lewis kind of thing, octave included.
Thanks!
2 AnswersJazz1 decade agoWhy do all my 4-track recordings end up so quiet I can barely hear them over the noise my refrigerator makes?
It's a fostex mr8-mk2. I've always had this problem, even with other recorders. What am I doing wrong?
Your help is greatly appreciated. :0)
1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoNew Orleans AFM? Good or Bad?
I just moved to the NO area. When I was visiting the area prior to my move, a lot of the musicians I spoke with told me that the NO local was a joke. They said that they never get work for their members and do nothing about grievances when bands are stiffed. Is this true? In Dallas the local 72-147 office did a lot for me and my group. Does anybody have anything positive to say about New Orleans AFM?
Thanks
1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoHow do I find "hidden" trans fats?
Manufacturers are not required to list trans fats under a certain amount in the nutrition information. I have heard from reliable sources that lots of foods have these "hidden" amounts. How can I find out about them?
Are the companies required to provide this information if asked? I'm sure the person answering the 1-800 line making $7.25 an hour probably wont even know what I'm trying to find out.
Thanks for your help.
