Does anyone else think that Cane might possibly be made a sympathetic figure in this storyline?

I could easily see the writers trying to make us believe that Cane went along with Phillip's ploy because he grew up in an orphanage without any family and wanted one at all cost blah, blah, blah, so that's why he pretended to be Phillip

How do you think this Cane thing will play out?

One of the many things that bothers me about the current Nick & Sharon saga is Nick's whole "fate, fairy tale, first love, true love, meant to be" type of crap that is his perception of he and Sharon.

I do believe that the writers have been trying hard the past year or two to join these two at the hip again so it's only a matter of time before they're together again. Nick's take on Sharon is that she can do no wrong; even when she does, he feels their must've been something pushing her to do those things rather than her being an adult who makes her own decisions. She's sweet, loving, innocent Sharon. Sharon's take on Nick? It seems to simply be the fact that he's a sweet and loving guy who was her first love. The first love thing is understandable.

Here's my question: Does anyone else believe that the people that Nick and Sharon love don't exist anymore?
