How do bars, pubs, and other alchohol joints fare in northern India (esp Delhi area)?
Im a bartender who is lookin to get his own place but here in the states it costs so much to own and operate. Im learnin Hindi and I put 2 and 2 together about the lower cost of living and just wanting to get away from the states. Would an Irish style pub be a sucess in southern New Delhi or Noida do you think?
1 AnswerDelhi and NCR10 years agoWould a traditional Irish Pub be a sucessful business venture in Delhi?
Its been my dream to move to India for a while, particularly Delhi. I thought of starting up a company with western food, and a traditional Irish pub would be great fun to own and operate. But im unsure as to whether or not such a venture would be sucessful in the local community. Would i get enough tourists and out of country businessman to keep the place afloat? Anybody from Delhi think an Irish pub could be a local hot spot?
4 AnswersDelhi and NCR1 decade agoDo most TEFL courses require a degree from college before you can start?
I am in college right now, not enjoying it, not doing well and looking for a subject change. I have had a lifelong fascination with India (and teaching for that matter), and the job market there, especially for foriegn speakers is high. I liked the look of most of the TEFL courses i have seen online, but most are rather unclear as to whether or not a teaching degree of somekind is needed for enrollment in their TEFL course. Anybody out there familiar with TEFL programs?
4 AnswersStudying Abroad1 decade agoAre there schools in India where English is used as the main teaching language (i.e. NOT TEFL)?
Im considering moving to India because of the booming economy and people who are rather familiar with english. Im starting to learn Hindi, but I dont believe I will be mastering it any time soon. Is there a market for English schools or private schools with english as the primary form of communication?

8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWho else could care less about what the founding fathers would have wanted for OUR country?
Jefferson was a slavery supporting, pot smoking, backstabbing know it all. Franklin was a sexuallly deviant, dope-huffing, gambling, lazy, corrupt politician. This is just a sample of the moral center of our founding fathers. and that is what they are. fathers. fathers dont make the future for ourselves. we do. and our children will undoubtedly think the same of us. so stop slaving over the idea the spirits of these men are going to kill us in our sleep sleep for not being the kind of americans they thought we were going to be and start making america in the image of what WE want it to be

1 AnswerWashington, D.C.1 decade agoHow come I see all the Tea-Party stickers exclusively on BMWs, Mercedes, Lexuses, Volvos, Cadillacs and such?
Oh! Its because they are actually a bunch of spoiled rich jerks who are getting taxed into the dirt! Ooh, not going to Disney world @ least 3 times a year is just fascism isnt it!? LOL These conservative Tea Baggers say they are populist, LOL
24 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoConservatives cant decide between the leaderless GOP and Libertarian parties, does this ensure O's re-election?
GOP=Leaderless and broken.
Libertarian=Listless and growing, cant get their act together.
Does these factors scare the tea-baggers? Without a party to participate in elections with, will the breaking in two of conservative mindsets ensure Democratic progression? Can the Neo-Revolutionaries (or whatever the f*** they wanna be called) get their sh*t together in time for 2010 or 2012?
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoDo you think America should have a model based on Greece or Rome?
The Greeks believed in strong city-states to compete with each other and through competition promote trade (differencials of states and states rights), an everyman freeman system (except for Sparta) of democracy, a solid but not overwhemling military and for the most part isolationalism. The Roman model would be a military conglomerate run by a solid central (federal) govt with strong enforcement of laws and underwhelming civil rights, competition through corporate deal, and a social caste system that leaves for little or no improvement, and the need to butt in to any and all international affairs and using the military powers to enforce ideals on other peoples.
So which model sounds better to you? I think the Greek model is what America was founded on but it has evolved into a Roman world power model. Btw the length of Greek rule: 1900 years, length of Roman rule1150 years. See a difference?
1 AnswerGovernment1 decade agoWould anybody else out there join Obama's proposed 'Citizen CIA' to defend our country from internal threats?
Obama has proposed an agency based organization to counteract the military's power along with the unstable and often questionable intentions and political unpredictableness of the CIA and the worthlessness of the NSA. The nicknamed Citizen CIA would consist of anybody who meets requirements and applies, and the duties would be similar to a CIA/FBI/Private Investigator and the National Gaurd. The Roman empire and the British empire similarly employed these special citizens to make sure the govt/executive leader or the military didnt overpower the will of the people and locally based govts. I would volunteer for such a noble cause and i was just wondering if anybody else out there would be as willing to serve their country as well without the questionable intentions and brainwashing of CIA or military training. Citizens defending the interest of citizens.
Hitler's SS was a MILITARY force, as well as Stalin's GULAG informants. The Citizen CIA would be utilized in finding domestic threats such as terrorists, extremists and (i pray) the nut job militias. The CC doesnt answer to the fed govt, but to the state govt or city based local govt. It is more comparable to Rome's Praetorian gaurds (the leaders elite completely loyal troop) against the Urban cohorts (who acted like a police force and fought for the people when the leader/govt used his Praetorians in a way that was unacceptable, comparable to the CC detaining terrorists instead of the CIA taking and torturing anyone requested by the leader/govt, i.e. bush and cheney). the Urban cohorts were loyal to the local population because off duty the WERE the local population. I dont understand cons obsession with totalitarian states, really...

9 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoMy fellow Liberals it seems that we like the Rebuplicans in the 80s have become the "Silent Majority"?
That sound about right? Americans made their voices heard last november. All the voices we hear these days seems to be the people who dont agree with the current administration. Obama's victory was the 3rd largest margin in Presidential election history. This former "Silent Majority" seeks to take what is rightfully ours away for their own petty and pious want. I for one am not silent but speak out and defend our president and the choices he and the administration have made over the past 8 months. We need to have our voices heard once again like in November 8th! These Tea-Baggers, these tub/bible-thumping loons are trying to undo one of the foremost plans of bringing America into a new era of self sufficiency and security. Not security from a foriegn dictator who uses hollow, tried words, but security from the fact that insurance companies have been robbing the American public blind and need to be thouroughly thrashed asunder with new regulation that will ensure ALL Americans born here have the right to not be thrown into ruin because we got sick or hurt, or that the insurance titans find your life isnt worth their outrageous profits. Speak up! Will we be a nation tied to the chains of corporations? This is not the UNITED STATES OF CORPORATIA, this is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! If we dont follow the ideals we founded this administration on than in 50 years we can look forward to the NEW pledge of Allegiance:
I Pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of Corporatia, and to the consumer base, for which it stands, one nation, under the free market, undefeatable, with liberty and justice, for those who can afford it

10 AnswersElections1 decade agoWould Fox news become more credible if it declared itself a conservative news source?
Even fox viewers admit fox news is conservatively minded. There is nothing out right wrong with that, but the whole 'fair and balanced' is bull and even its viewers get that. I watch MSNBC and i watch it because it is far left minded. The most fair and balaniced would have to be CNN. But CNN tends to be on the incrediblely dull side. People want to have the news told to them the way they want to hear it, is that so wrong? (( To all the conservatives out there i also watch Bill O'Reilly every nite after Olbermann. O'Reilly is by far the most moderate and most realisticly minded voice on Fox and i genuinely respect his opinion))

2 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoAbraham Lincoln if judged on todays politcal spectrum he would be a liberal Democrat. So why....?
why do people so very quickly forget that history pulled a hasty reverse on democrats vs republicans on the issues that showed their identity. From the the Age of Lincoln up until the election of Teddy Roosevelt the parties we know as the Democratic and Republican parties were mirror versions of their modernday counterpartsup until 1910. Today the Republicans fight for fiscally conservative, socially conservative ideals. You know who had that title when Abe Lincoln was elected? the Democrats (yeah bet you didnt see that one coming)who did moderatley well across the country but had strongholds south of the mason/dixon line. Republicans adversely were fiscally liberal and socially liberal and held moderate support around the country but had a stronghold in the New England states. Mirror Mirror says......oooooooo....one of Republicans top whip out of pocket facts to protect the idea they dont support social/racial suppression is actually the opposite of what they were founded on (Lincoln started the Republican party and how it got to this bastardized state i have no idea) and in fact what their opponents represent!...ooooo.....i sense some wicked comments coming my way....
