My stepsister is depressed so she won't get in trouble for things.. what do I do?
So a month ago we found out she was talking to guys online and texting them and sending things she shouldn't have (hopefully you can catch my drift). She was 15 when it began (now 16), so she's a minor. When my dad and stepmom found out and after the lengthy "why did you do this" and "I'm sorry" conversation, she didn't get in that much trouble. They took away her new iPhone and gave her a flip phone, but she was still able to use her older iPhone, tablet, and laptop. She also wasn't grounded. They're saying she was super depressed and suicidal and that she did it because she wanted positive feedback since she's been bullied, blah blah blah. I feel like she was just sucking it for all it's worth because she's been on anxiety and antidepressants and seeing a therapist for over a year now. Also, we always talk about my problems (which are deep), so why did she hide her feelings to go and do that?
Anyway, Saturday she ran her car into the house, claiming the brakes wouldn't work. She's now not being help responsible at all because she'll kill herself otherwise.
These are just 2 examples. This "no punishment" thing has been going on for a while though. For me this is hard because I grew up with a strict mom, and my stepmom is letting her loose. But if it were ME, I would still be punished. Needless to say I think this is a bunch of BS and I get super frustrated. What can I do to make things a little more justified and fair???????
2 AnswersFamily5 years agoGuys- does he like me?
I met him over three weeks ago at a one-week camp at an university. We've been texting non-stop since the afternoon we got back home. He lives 5 hours away so I can't go easily see him again.
Anyways, we've been texting non-stop and communicating through facebook and instagram. We've basically talked about anything and he's there to support me when a problem comes up. We talk about politics, school, society, and our lives. The conversation basically never ends, we just pick it back up the next day. We'll text from morning to night and send each other pics of something we like or that remind us of the other. He'll ask me how I am and what I'm doing and never let a conversation become boring. I know these are a lot of signs, but because I don't get to see him, I don't know if it's because he's a nice guy. Thanks :)
2 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoSo my dad is in the hospital and I'm not sure I can go to school ...?
He has colitis and got to the ER last night. Then he was transferred over to a major hospital in the area.
Tomorrow's going to be my third day of senior year and I'm supposed to go, but I don't think I can.
This is similar to how my Papa (his dad) died and tonight was the first time I've been in a hospital room since then and I had to do everything not to run out in hysterics.
I get migraines super easily and my worry is I'll get one. Or that I'll be so out of it because I'm worried, or irritated, or upset. And please don't tell me to get over it because I have anxiety and depression along with this.
So my parents are going to make me go (unless I get a migraine which I hope not) but I know I won't be able to make it through the day. Any advice?
2 AnswersMental Health6 years agoThere aren't enough classes for me to take at school this year ??
I'm going to be a senior and the only classes available are AP or super lower level classes that i have passed curriculum wise. I have chronic migraines so I can't take a lot of AP classes. I need 2 class periods full and I'm not sure what I should do since the school requires you to take all 6 classes on the schedule. Some kids have the same problem and are taking classes online or have a job through work-based learning. I don't want to take a bunch of crap electives or classes because I have to give my schedule to colleges. Any ideas or advice? Thanks!
1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education6 years agoHow do I date a guy from out of state?
Need advice on a relationship in different states ??I met this guy last week at a week-long camp at a college and we became close friends amd we've been talking non-stop since. I'm wondering if it's going to be taken a step further but I want a little advice in case it does. I'm 17, 18 in two months. He's 17 and we're both going to be high school seniors. We live like 4-5 hours away from each other in states side-by-side. I have a feeling it could be successful because it's only 4 hours instead of like 12 and there's plenty of opportunities to see each other. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea because we're seniors and the situation is most likely going to stay the same in college. There is a possibility we'll go to colleges an hour away, but still. Normally I wouldn't worry but I'm thinking I'm really starting to like him because he's one of the nicest guys. Any advice?
Update: there's possibilities that we go to the same college and if not we'll be in the 1-2 hour range apart.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoHow should I ask him if he likes me or wants to go out again?
Monday we went to lunch together as friends. I didn't think it was a date, but then I realized it was. I'm not sure if he thought of it like that though.
Anyways, how do I casually ask him if he likes me over text? Also, how can I ask to see him again but kind of hint as more than friends? Thanks.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoWas it a date?
So yesterday I went out to lunch with my guy friend. It actually turned into me stopping by my grandma's house and he meeting her (including him giving her a hug and such, but he's just that kind of person). We had to kill time before the restaurant opened and we went to a pet store looking at the animals.
When I picked him up and dropped him off, we hugged. But there wasn't romance. Some say that it was a date that would lead up to romance with more dates.
The texting conversation the day before included the usual smiley faces, winky faces, good morning the next day, etc. As I read back on it now, it seems a little flirtatious that I didn't notice before.
So would you say it was a date? And if I want to see him again where should I go from here?
Side note: my grandma later called my family about the "nice young man" that was with me and that she approved. Lol
1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoHow should I ask him out?
I have a friend from my school I went to freshman year in high school and I liked him then. I haven't had any interest in dating him much since though, probably because I realized it's good we're friends. I've stayed in touch because I have a bunch of other friends from that school. Today I went to lunch with him at Olive Garden but I had to stop by my grandma's before and she called my step-mom thinking I was dating the "nice young man" and that she approved. They were laughing about it when I saw them later, and I told my friend and we both laughed.
But, of course, It made me start thinking about him again and bring back old feelings. I was thinking I want to ask him out as a "hey we should do something and see how it goes, and if we don't like it, we stay friends" kinda thing.
I was thinking I could use this situation as something to lead to it. I don't want to push him away, so I'm not quite sure how to casually ask him out and specify as more than friends going to lunch like today. (But to be honest, it had all the characteristics of a date.)
2 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoThree months before my 18th birthday my mom disowns me ?
Last night I read an email from my mother that was an e-card that eventually ended in "goodbye and take care."
Fortunately I was at my dad's house with my step mom.
Ive had troubles with my mom before but never enough to think that she'd do this. She's and alcoholic and has borderline personality disorder.
Legally, is this allowed?
And how do I deal with the fact that one of the people who's supposed to love me unconditionally rejected me? How do I respond when people ask about her?
What do I do with my dog who lives with her and all my stuff that's there? Does it belong to her because she bought it?

1 AnswerMedia & Journalism7 years agoCould I be at risk for a stroke?
Im 16 and I have a lot of migraines. Most come with the aura, which I know increases the risk of stroke. I got a MRI a month ago and they found basically an enlarged vein (not sure what the proper term is). The day before I got my follow-up CT scan last Thrusday, I got a migraine with auras and when I got up from sleeping, I lost feeling in most of my body and I lost hearing and vision and fell. I experiemced the symtoms of a mini stroke which are often shared with aura migraines. But, on that day, I also had a 100.6 fever and experienced the symtoms of a viral ilness, which a stroke is sometimes mistaken for. Please know I have had a cough and stuffy nose since then. So... Did I possibly have a mini stroke or am I at risk of stroke?? Would my CT scan the following day been weird or off if I did have a mini stroke (other than the enlarged vein)??
3 AnswersHeart Diseases7 years agoDo teens have too much work/stress?
Do you believe teens in high school get too much homework? Do you believe they have too much stress to deal with?
I'll share my side: I'm a junior and I have all honors classes and one AP class. This isn't as bad as some others who have 3+ AP classes. But I have about 6 or so hours of homework each night and it keeps me from getting enough sleep and teens often pull all-nighters in order to get their work done. You may say it's because teens procrastinate, but really it's because they have so much work, they get done what's due first. We spend 7+ hours at school, hours on end of homework, and are told to do extracurriculars and save time to exercise too. I have zero personal time at all and it's caused me to have huge anxiety problems along with all this work and stress. What do you think? Is this normal? Or do we have too much work?
4 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education7 years agoAfter how long should I go to the ER with a migraine?
I've had a migraine since around 7 on Monday night. So now I've had the migraine for 2 days or 49 hours. I'm a 16 year old girl and i started getting migraines 2 years ago. This isn't my worst migraine, but it's the longest. My worst was two times when I became unconscious, etc. I've taken Exedrin migraine pills as well as my prescription. I've even taken sleeping pills to sleep and it's still here. It's not crazy bad - just long and has spikes of pain when something triggers it, like movement, loud sounds, etc. So what should I do? And when?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management7 years agoMom hasn't responded for days??
I'm 16 and my mom usually texts me every morning and calls or texts menevery night. She called tuesday asking me to call back as soon as I can and I did but she never replied. I also texted her on Wednesday but she answered withh a random text saying she loves me forever but didn't fit in the conversation. Now, she hasn't called or texted and hasn't replied to any call or text from me. When should I start worrying???
6 AnswersFamily7 years agoMy sister doesn't study at all?
She's a freshman and I'm a sophomore. She's in special ed classes because she needs small classes and she has ADD. I'm in all honors and AP classes. If she has homework, she gets done with it really fast and then she never studies for tests or quizzes she has and she's happy with just passing her classes. I spend ever waking moment studying and working for school and college (though I don't have much of a choice). My parents don't even push her to study more so that she can actually get into college. But they always want me to do something (like take the SAT four times). How can I get her to study more? She's always complaining and thinks she has it rough, but not nearly. The state required tests are gonna be difficult for her if she doesn't start preparing now.
3 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education7 years agoWhat to do about special needs sister in school?
My sister is a freshman in high school and I'm a sophomore. She is in all special education classes except for electives. She has trouble with one of her electives because it is a normal class and has a lot of people. She was also even failing another class, but she passed all classes last semester. Since I was a freshman last year, I know how hard the tests are at the end of the year. They have 3 required tests she has to take to graduate and one of them was in the class she was failing last semester. While she has B's and A's right now, she will have problems later and during the tests. I'm an all honors and AP student, so I spend my waking day focusing everything on school (even though I don't really have much of a choice). And she's struggling in some classes and even failing some and is STILL doing less work than me. I know she needs to get studying more for the tests but she hates studying because she's never been taught how or forced to. And my parents don't make her while they make me spend my waking life do everything school or college related. How do I get her to study more or make my parents encourage her? She should not settle for just passing and I don't want her to get hurt by the tests at the end of the year. She is capable of studying b/c she is a normal kid just needs smaller classes and more attention due to ADD.
1 AnswerSpecial Education7 years agoShould I start a blog?
I'm 16 and in 10th grade. I'm on my school's newspaper, but I want to write more often about things that I'm extremely interested in. I've been thinking about starting a blog, and my parents support me, although I haven't taken the plunge as of yet. I'm interested in beauty/fashion and current issues (bullying, gov't shutdown, etc.) Should I start a blog and what should it be about? Would starting a blog help with future jobs/internships in journalism/social media?
2 AnswersComputer Networking8 years agoGood Makeup For Picture Day?
I'm 15 and a Sophomore and tomorrow is picture day. I'm white with a beige skin tone, hazel eyes, light brown/golden hair, and some freckles on my face. I know what I'm doing with my face, but I don't know what makeup I should do for my eyes. I'm wearing a white v-neck tee with a green fitted jacket over with a little ruffle at the bottom (won't be in the pic). My background color is going to be teal/light blue. I can do brown eyeliner, black eyeliner, dark sparkly green eyeliner, and purple eyeliner. I also have pretty much any shadow color you can think of. I also have the Naked 2 palette. Thanks
