  • Drop kicking Mother-in-law?

Ok here's my issue. My daughter is 14 months old. Ever since (actually a little before) we started her on baby food my mother-in-law has been pushing her boundaries about feeding my child what she thinks is ok to do despite me telling her to only feed her what I pack for her. She doesn't watch her often, but on the very RARE occasion that I need a babysitter I would like to know that my little girl is being fed things that I think are appropriate. Since day one she has been trying to give my daughter candy and sweets. "Just a taste" but she knows I don't want her to have much sugar. And every chance she gets she giving her something packed full of sugar. It's not just the sugar though. When she was 8 months old she gave her strawberries and pineapple. Children younger than one shouldn't have acid. And today was the last straw. Because she knows that I don't want her having much sugar she hides stuff. When I went to pick her up today she told me that she gave her peanut butter and jelly on graham crackers. I am perfectly fine with the graham crackers, and even the jelly... But she doesn't know whether our daughter is allergic to peanut butter. And neither do we. So I was already irritated. But then I noticed that her tongue was blue! So I asked what else she had eaten and she kind of laughed and said gummies... and she really liked them. EEerrrrrrr I really want to punch the woman! It's not like I don't pack food for my kid! I was only gone about 2 1/2 hours. She didn't even bother to try and feed her what I packed. And my husband is so afraid to say anything because he doesn't want to "start any drama" His answer... just don't let her watch her. I'm not in the position where I have anyone else to ask. Any with my husband working second shift I can't schedule everything when he's home. I'm at a loss on what to do here. I've asked her nicely, I've asked her not so nicely, short of pinning a note to my daughters clothing or bag I don't know what else to do!

And my concerns with the sugar are not unjustified. While my brother-in-law and his daughter were living with her she constantly feed her junk food. Behind his back. To the point were the poor little girl weighed 46 pounds by the age of two!

  • Silver nonpareils or candy pearls?

I am making a wedding cake for a friend. The wedding is Saturday. She wants to use silver nonpareils as a decoration on the cake. She assured me that they had them at wal-mart when I expressed concern about finding them. Well now less than a week before the wedding I went to pick some up, an lo and behold, there are none. They don't even have any white ones. I've looked at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Joann's. None. Joann's though did have small -maybe 2mm- white ones, a little smaller than I was looking for, but I think I could make them work. I remember reading somewhere that you can "paint" them by mixing luster dust/disco dust and something else but I can't remember what. Anyone know? Or have any other suggestions? It's too late to order them online at this point.

  • Can a newspaper publish photos/names of minors without parental consent?

My friends daughter is in kindergarten and yesterday my friend called me all excited because her brother told her that her daughters picture was in the paper. I asked her if she hadn't known about it before hand and she told me that she had no idea. I was concerned because it had her full name printed and the school she attended. The picture was taken at school, so I thought the school should have sent home a note or called for permission or something. I know if it had been my daughter I was have went off the handle. My friends husband is convinced that it falls under freedom of press and that there is nothing they call do about it. I asked my friend today if she had called the school and she said she wasn't going to push the issue because then they might not put her daughters picture in the paper anymore. Some people aren't in their right mind, and I wouldn't want all my child's info floating around on the front page of the newspaper for every whacked out creeper to see. So my question is, does this fall under freedom of press? Or should someone (the school or the paper) have asked permission? She attends public school btw if that makes any difference.

  • What can I do with caramel?

I have about a pound of caramel left over from where I made caramel apples. I'm wondering what I can do with it? I've looked at a few recipes, but I either didn't have all the ingredients or they didn't get very good reviews. It isn't the individually wrapped caramels, but it tastes just the same. I don't have any condensed milk or evaporated milk, No pecans or walnuts, or real butter.

  • What can I do with chocolate creme pie filling?

My grandma sent us home with a huge box of stuff over the holidays. I'm trying to think of ways to use the stuff but I'm stuck finding something to do with a can of chocolate creme pie filling (21 oz.) There are no recipes on the can, none on the website of the company who makes the stuff, and I couldn't find any online that call for premade filling. Any help?

  • wedding flowers on a budget?

I asked this question earlier and a lot of people said no because they would look awful. So I wanted to ask again but include a picture,so you could see the flowers.

I am helping plan my cousins wedding and we are trying to stay on a budget. I came across this website that sells preserved flowers for very cheap (30 flowers for $12.00) I know they will work fine for centerpieces but I was wondering if anyone knew if we could also use them for bouquets? They are freeze-dried if that makes any difference. I just don't want to order a bunch only to find out that they crumble when touched.

  • Half a monster energy drink? When can I breastfeed?

At around 1 o'clock today I drank half of a monster energy drink while out with a friend. My husband was home watching the baby ( 2 weeks old) and I had pumped milk for him to feed her with. I'm home now and I want to feed her, but I'm not sure if it's ok with me drinking the energy drink earlier. Should I pump and dump and just feed her from a bottle again? Or do you all think it will be OK to just go ahead and feed her?

  • Had my daughter Tuesday night. Do you like her name?

We named her Saige Avery. Do you like it? We've gotten mixed reviews from family and friends but honestly I love it and so does my husband.

Here's a pic of her just cause I'm so darn proud!

  • Keeping newborn awake long enough to eat?

I just had my daughter on Tuesday (so you'll probably be seeing me a lot on here) but I am having a hard time keeping her awake long enough to get a good feeding in. I am TRYING to breast feed, but she has already lost almost a pound, and her doctors are making me supplement with formula :(

There is no problem with my breast milk, it's flowing well and she is latching just fine. The problem is that about 4 or 5 minutes after she latches and eats a little she falls right to sleep. I'm feeding every 2 1/2 to 3 hours as per doctors orders. What else can I do? I hate giving her formula!

  • Helpful advice about potential roommate?

My husbands cousin, and my best friend since Jr. High, just left her abusive boyfriend. She is moving into a three bedroom house and has asked us to move in with her. She has a 5 year old daughter who I love to death. But we are expecting our first child very very soon (Jan. 20th) and my husband and I would have to share a bedroom with our newborn. I really am not sure about moving in with her because I would like to be able to have my own space. But, at the same time I want her to know that I support her and her decision to leave the crappy man she was with. Also I feel like I kind of owe it to her to at least give it a try because she has helped me out so much throughout my life. She is actually the one who introduced me to my husband (her cousin) and it would save us quit a bit of money. I'm just not sure what to do. Any helpful advice?

  • 35 weeks and sex life down right stinks?

I am 35 weeks pregnant and for the past three weeks or so every time my husband and I have sex it is just down right awful. I'm so slippery from discharge it feels like nothing is happening, we can't find a comfortable position(and yes we have tried just about anything you could imagine), and I can't seem to *go* hardly at all even if it feels good. I feel like a turtle stuck on my back.... It's not anything my husband is doing or not doing.. It's me!

Has anyone else had this happen in your pregnancy? If so, please tell me things go back to normal after the baby is born!? I can't live the rest of my life with such crappy sex.

  • With new baby, is this really wrong?

I want to put a sign on my front door, or at least mention it before hand if they call, that if they are sick to please come back again when they are not. For anyone else please be prepared to wash hands immediately. Is that rude to do? I'm due in January and I really don't want my baby to get sick.

  • Doctor said I'm measuring big?

At my last appointment I was 33 weeks and she said I was measuring 36 weeks. She said they would do another ultrasound at 37 or 38 weeks and if she still looked big that she would most likely induce me. I don't have GD, so why am I measuring big? Could my due date be off anyway? Has anyone else had to be induced because of this? If so did you get to go vaginally?
