Hello,

I recently was running few commands on terminal and fell for a prank and "purged" the "network manager". I realized it the very next second but it was too late as I was no longer connected to the internet. I googled a little and found that I could download the required Network manager file from other computer and run the dpkg -i command to get back my network manager. But here is the problem.. Where can I find those network manager files? I tried ubuntu website and there were hundreds of them.

So can someone tell me which network manager file should I download for Ubuntu 14 LTS ? Any kind of URL is appreciated.

Two numbers when divided by a certain divisor give remainders 35 and 20 respectively and when their sum is divided by the same divisor the remainder is 15. Find the divisor.

I tried solving this by assuming the two numbers as "a" and "b". I took the divisor as "d" and tried to find a general answers. It just got more complicated.

I have a red eared slider turtle which is 10 years old. From the past 5 days it is not eating anything. I searched online and found that RI (respiratory infection) could be a cause. But my turtle is not showing any symptoms. He is very active and has no swollen eyes or running nose. I consulted a veterniary doctor who primarily takes care of dogs. He said that turtles hybernate during winters and thats why it is not eating. But I never faced this problem before. Any suggestions ? I am really worried .

as the title suggests i want to know the timeline of mathematics. By timeline , i mean the development of modern mathematics. for example ..first came the geometry ..then the algebra ..then the trignometry ..then the coordinate geometry ....then somewhere after that the calculus arrived. So i want to know the timeline in that sense...in the sense of "advancement"..not like the hindu system and the egyptian mathematics and all.

from five days i have been on a diet plan that my gym guy suggested me. My moto is to loose some weight and get a flat belly and chest. My gym guy is kinda naive and not a professional ...but he seems experienced and has good gym physique. so he gave me this plan ...

morning after workout 2 whole eggs

breakfast oats/bread

lunch 2 eggs , a bowl of carrot , very very little rice ..very little ..only to conume all the curries . consider the rice quantity very little.

snacks ..a bowl of papaya ,carrots

dinnner .. brown upma.

and in the gym ..i am doing the following workout.

treadmill : 20 - 20 minutes ..a total of 400 calories .

cross walk: 20 minutes ..a total of 200 calories .

some crunches and some other cardio.

the crunches and cardio are performed between the 20 minutes treadmill sessions.

so my question is ..will this diet and workout work for weight loss and a flat belly?

lets say Einstein published his 1905 papers in some journal with lowest impact factor. would that mean that , even in 2015 noone would know that einstein published something like that ? and would we still be stuck in 1905 technology ? you are getting my question right ...does journal play really really significant role .? i care a damn about the "status quo" ..i care a damn about "reputation" ..all i am asking is ...if 1905 papers of einstein were published in some journal with low impact factor ..then will they be lost to time eventually , and noone would know about einstein ?

lets say i have some scientific papers that meet the standards of Nature Journal . I know its hard to get published in nature , but please ...thats not the question . The question is ..is it free or not ? i have a manuscript ..will it cost me money to publish in nature journal ? if yes ..then how much ? as far as i know ..its a totally free process and will not cost me any money ..am i right ?

I was reading about Self Awareness on wikipedia and came accross a sentence. The sentence goes something like "Self-awareness has been called "arguably the most fundamental issue in psychology, from both a developmental and an evolutionary perspective "...is this true ??I can see that till today noone has figured out what self awareness is ,but i still see Psychology kicking off. So what does that sentence mean ? And is describing self awareness really important ?

I was studying einstein's 1905 paper(On the electrodynamics of moving bodies) and found that einstein was contradicting himself. In the very first page he said that the velocity of light is constant, and it doesnot depend on the velocity of the source. But in the 5th page or so he used """"(c-v)"""" where v is the velocity of the source and c is the speed of light . And i also found that he considered the velocity of source in many other cases. I am really confused ..can someone explain to me why he broke his own laws ?

I am extremly interested in sub atomic particles. But i dont know the branch of science that deals with them exclusively.is there any branch of physics that deals with it exclusively ? And if yes ..then are there any free online courses that can help me understand the subject ?i am interested in quantum mechanics , but when i googled it ..i found courses only dealing with the behaviour of particles . i want the field which explains about every subatomic particle that man has come accross. And i dont want links to wikipedia pages ...i want to do the math and get into it seriously ..I want to go deep into it ...yes even the math part . So please guide me

I am interested in building a Radio Controlled car so needed little help. I need the circuit for transmitter and receiver part. I can handle the frame part and everything but need help in the wireless remote control region. I googled a little but found no help . So can anyone give me a circuit for the remote and the receiver part of the car ? And also little explanation on how it works.(i am currently doing my electronics degree so feel free to drop technical terms.)

I am tired of using batteries for my projects(non mobile projects) and decided to have a "battery eliminator" kind of thing. I ripped a AA battery charger and thinking of using it as a DC power source for my projects. Will this work ?i saw that it gives out 3 volts and 0.15 amps of power ..will this be good for my projects ? or my question to be more specific ....can this replace a battery ?i basically took out the whole AC to DC converter circuit from the charger and i now think i have a replacement for batteries. i can directly connect it to the wall socket and get a battery like thing .....am i right ??????please help .

I took a lecture on curve fitting , and am now comfortable with the procedure. I mean i can fit a curve for given data. But i have little problem with the "reason behind the procedure".i just dont understand why we are doing a particular step.for example consider this :

fit a curve y=ae^bx for given data. And some data is given in x and y.

solution:

step 1: we take logarithm and convert y=ae^bx into form of y = mx+c.

Step 2: then we take "normal equations" like and get values of m and c.

So here is my question.....why are we taking "normal equations"? what is the mathematical reason behind it ? What is the logic behind it ? i just dont get it ....can someone please explain ??

I want to dedicate my whole computer processing power to a program . I want my computer to stop doing all nonsense and just concentrate its whole power onto a python program . How do i do it ? Please dont ask me why i need to do that , and please cut the harsh useless replies part.i want to do it as i have need for it. so how can i do it ? is there any python code to do it ? or can i do it by installing some software or something . I am using Ubuntu 14 right now ..so can i do something through terminal ? Any kind of help is appreciated. And again , please no .."why do you need that ?" questions .

I was always a Python guy , but recently i came accross an article saying that C was much faster than Python. I didnt believe it and put the theory to test . I was shocked by the results . I used time command to compare both of them . I used a very simple program . Counting to 100000000. Something like:

In Python :

i = 0;

while i<100000000:

i = i+1;

print("completed");

And in C:

#include<stdio.h>

int main()

{

int i;

for(i=0;i<1000000000;i++)

{

i = i+1;

}

printf("Execution completed 1\n");

}

I found that python took about 21 or so seconds . But C took only 0.448 seconds. It was amazing. Now i found another article saying FORTRAN was much faster than C. So here is my question.

-- Ignoring all other functions and features of both languages. If i write a code in FORTRAN for the same test (counting to 100000000) then will FROTRAN outdo C ???

** I want to do the same test. Please ignore all other features** Will fortran be faster than C ?

lets say i give totally random ..but assending numbers to you ..example something like 1 5 8 96 100 253 and so on ...can you create a series function for it ? I mean something like ...sigma x = 0 to 5 and function is x^2..then the result would be 0 1 4 9 16 25 ...in the same way , can we create a sequence function for completly random numbers like i mentioned above ? 1 5 8 96 100 253 ...and when we substitute 1 in the function we should get 1 ...when we substitute two in the function we should get 5 ..and when 3 is substituted we should get 8 ..and when 4 ..96 ...and for 5..100 .......can we create our own sequence like that ?
