  • What kind of insect is this?

I was outside at work today with my boss when we saw a strange looking insect on the side of the building. It was about an inch or so long and maybe a quarter of inch or smaller wide, black and amber in colour, I can't remember if it had any striping on it at all. It's rear end was an amber colour and had three prong like looking things on it. You couldn't see it's wings, but we found out that it could fly, so I'm not sure if they were encased in it's body or just extremely transparent. We did get quite close to it and I'm sure I'd recognize it if I could find a picture, but I haven't been able to.

When poked (lightly) with a small stick or blown on it would curl the back 1/3-1/2 of it's body up to it's back, almost like a scorpion. It never appeared to actually "sting" the stick. After about 3 minutes of blowing and light prodding it flew away.

    Any ideas?

  • Dog pees when leashed?

One of my dachshunds, a 1 1/2 year old intact male, pees nearly every time I leash him to take him outside to pee or go for a walk. It doesn't matter if he's been out 5 minutes prior or if it's been an hour. He is a confident dog, but is lower than my other dachshund in the pack order (a 3 1/2 year old mini spayed female).

I have been putting an absorbent pad down before and getting him on it before I leash him, that way when he goes I am able to ignore it and continue to take him out. The pads are made for human use, they're the same as dog pee pads but have no scent/attractant. I have worked with rescue dogs before and dealt with submissive urination before, but every approach that I used with them hasn't worked with my boy. He has been checked by the vet and is clear from any medical reasons for peeing. I have had him since December and this started about 2 months ago.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Can I kick my roommate out?

I've lived here for over a year so I'm on a month to month lease.

Roommate moved in in August 2009, has never paid a full month's rent or any of the bills. Is running me into debt because of this as well. He did not sign a lease or agreement and was living month to month.

Am I within my rights to kick him out?

Can I take him to small claims court for the money he owes me?

Can I keep his stuff until he pays and/or sell it?

By the way I'm located in London, Ontario.
