  • Someone I know years back was given a late term abortion, should she have had it?

She was told because her boyfriend had porphyria the baby would also be gravely ill going by knowledge he apparently had of their family. She got pregnant for not taking her pill right and left it some time to reach a doctor because she was afraid to admit it I guess. She was young and never told her m u m. Did the doctor lie because he thought she was too young, or to save her the pain of telling her mother? Because they were unmarried?

  • Mirtzapine making me sooooo tired!!!?

At first I didn't suspect the medication as I had only just started on a half pill and my symptoms were so extreme I didn't know what was going on. I had vertigo, could hardly think, move or stay awake I had hallucinations saying I was going to die soon and other horrible things like that, taking me back to a breakdown I had about 10yrs ago. I thought the devil had me and I was done for. It eventually passed, and I tried very hard to be brave, thinking I must be schizophrenic or have another brain illness which caused it-or literally be about to die. But then after feeling better I took my pill again and felt the same sort of thing again,so now I know it has to be that.

I took it before bed, which is supposed to stop you feeling too drowsy in the day but I couldn't get up this morning, have slept all day and feel exactly the same now. Have eaten and drunk strong coffee....no improvement. It's horrible, and I can't believe I feel it this bad when other people don't feel anything at all. It's scary, like I'm about to pass out all the time. Is this a bad reaction, or normal for some people? I'm not taking anymore, either way.

Does anyone know a way of alleviating the problem of a sodden, squishy, muddy garden with little grass left, so i can let dogs out without them getting quite so filthy and help it drain?

  • What could this rash be-psoriasis?

I noticed I was developing spots on saturday. They haven't gone but are spreading. They began on my torso, and have gone around behind my ears and neck, over my scalp, to my groin, and along my forearms. They are currently quite light and soft, but some do have a very tiny scale of skin appearing. I'm not known to be allergic to anything. I've not used anything new recently eg products or medicine. I have no significant pain, although eyelids feel a bit tender and my breasts feel very sore (something I noticed about a fortnight ago) like I am due a period even though I am not. I even feel period-like cramps. I don't feel hot or sick although maybe a little achy/under the weather like you may be with a very mild infection. My arm keeps aching, but I could just have banged it or be leaning on it too much- these things do make you paranoid! Skin is beginning to itch ever so slightly, mainly on neck where clothes touch.

The only illness I have had lately is a week or so of quite severe bone pain before Xmas around the 16th. I normally have a dodgy knee so that was unusable altogether, and it felt like I had bad arthritis. Pain just shot out from every bone and joint...like I'd been beaten up or had flu. But no other symptoms along with it. This obviously worried very much but it went away after a while so I forgot about it.

I have looked through all kinds of rashes and it does resemble guttate psoriasis which in 60% of cases is associated with a former streptococcus infection. Could I have simply picked the bug upwithout knowing on my tonsils? Could it have been set off by another bug? My mother suffers with psoriasis and my dad currently has an enduring tickly cough which he has had for over a month. He tends to splutter all over the place so wouldn't be surprised what I caught off him.

Unlike psoriasis it isn't very scaly yet but I thought maybe it just hasn't had time to develop a proper scale yet or is very mild.

I took an antihistamine the other night to no effect. There is no swelling.

  • Aaargh I have spots all over me!?

I just went to take a shower and noticed I looked very spotty around my jawline which is unusual. Then I took my top off and I covered in them! Some are blotches/streaks instead of small spots. I pressed one and the blood goes away, and I feel ok.

Mum said it looks like German measles (rubella) but I had the MMR jab. I've never had an allergic reaction which looks like this, they aren't sore or itchy...so what could I have and should I be worried? Sorry for looking fat.

  • How do I become a living donor in the Uk to someone I don't know?

Most people donate because a loved one is ill and this also means the match is likely to be good. But even though none of my small family are ill like this I'd like to donate to one of the thousands of other sick people in the UK. How can I put myself forward for that?

  • How old would you guess I am, honestly?

I just want to know people's honest opinions. Usually when people meet me they are very surprised about my real age.

  • Can you get flu without all the usual symptoms?

I started getting pain about a week ago, mainly in my knee where I have a recurrent problem anyway so its bound to hurt more, but then I noticed the pain spreading through all my bones. I'm fed up hobbling about, now it hurts in my head when I cough. The pains are everywhere- eg wrists, ribs, thigh.

Obviously I will go see my doctor but could it be flu without having a cough or anything?

I had a flu jab year before last and remember my shoulder really hurting for a long time after in a similar sort of way. Could my immunity still be quite good?

  • Taking joint supplement and my bones hurt like mad!!!?

I am a 27 female. I have been agoraphobic for a long time, so don't get enough vitamin D. My right knee started getting troublesome a few years back, every now and then getting inflamed and unbendable. I now find it hard to get up and down from the floor. It clicks when it reaches the halfway stage quite often and feels very crunchy, as though there are loose bits in there all mashing around. My mum this this problem too. My diet hasn't been fantastic, and my teeth were chipping as well so I thought a good supplement regime might help me, especially as I have read even a fresh varied diet nowadays is deficient. I also try anything said to help with anxiety/depression.

I am taking Jointace which includes:

    Average Per 2 tablets

Collagen (Type II complex): 300 mg

    Glucosamine Sulphate: 1000 mg

    Chondroitin Sulphate: 100 mg

    Vitamin D: 10 mcg

    Vitamin E: 40 mg

    Vitamin C: 60 mg

    Folic Acid: 400 mcg

    Vitamin B12: 20 mcg

    Zinc: 10 mg

    Manganese: 4mg

    Copper: 1 mg

    Selenium: 120 mcg

Ginger root extract equivalent to: 80 mg

as well as Berocca which includes:

    Vitamin C 476 mg 595

    Thiamin (Vitamin B1) 10.4 mg 945

    Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) 13.6 mg 971

    Niacin (Vitamin B3) 45.3 mg NE 283

    Vitamin B6 7.1 mg 507

    Vitamin B12 8.6 μg 344

    Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) 22.7 mg 378

    Biotin 130 μg 260

    Folic acid 366 μg 183

    Magnesium 92.5 mg 25

    Zinc 9 mg 90

I have looked up daily guidelines and I don't appear to be exceeding any of the individual vitamins or minerals, or at least if I go over slightly it is a result of the product being designed for a specific problem and therefore has obviously been designed safely, and doesnt reach the toxic upper levels of each thing.

I do plan to take a bit of extra magnesium because they are both low on this and it is said to help with depression/anxiety.

I also take an omega oils complex.

But jeez several days in and I feel crippled! Earlier today I could hardly climb the stairs. All my joints hurt, my knee is very bad-stiff and crunchy as hell and all my other joints hurt too, like my ribs, my wrists etc.

Could this be a result of the supplements and something to worry about or will it calm down?

I did some walking last week- I actually overcame my agoraphobia and walked maybe 3 miles with my dogs on two occasions. They were pulling me around (one is a huge mastiff and the other 2 manic puppies). My mum says this shouldnt be affecting me now as it was too long ago, but sometimes things take a while to catch up with you. Which would you think it mostly is??

  • My puppies have upset stomachs when I feed them GOOD food!?

When I first got them they had very upset bellies and I put it down to not quite being used to solid food yet. However it never really went away. I relieved it by feeding them only chicken and rice for several weeks at first, which worked a treat, and if it had been any infection it cleared up.

I then returned to puppy food- James Wellbeloved. They had constant wind and it was disgusting!!!! They also had loose poo often. After they finished the 2 bags we had I therefore tried something different- Burgess for sensitive bellies. Well...it shot through them in about 30 seconds. They literally pooed their little brains out. So that was a no-no.

My mum happened to be in Tesco one day, and knowing I wanted dog food she bought a cheap brand- Harringtons- which I didn't want. It is however still wheat, soya etc free. Since I had it I thought I better use it, and guess what? Their flatulence and pooing ceased. I normally mix their food with a bit of tinned wet food for palatability but this on it's own has never caused any adverse effect. It's always a cheap brand like pedigree.

I left that cheap stuff behind and invested in another good brand- Nature's diet- which is 60% chicken and has a great list of ingredients. One day in one of the poor things has literally exploded from his bum. The first lot was outside but I have just had to mop up the hallway after it happened again. He can't hold it in hardly! I have hardly any money yet did my best to buy them good quality food and it seems the crappier stuff is actually the best for them. Why would more meat and better quality ingredients cause this? Do they have a digestive condition?

They are whippets and 4 months old now.

I always swapped their food over gradually before but it made no difference. I also gave them probiotic and charcoal cob treats, again to no avail. I also kept them clean, bathing them in nice eucalyptus shampoo and cleaning their paws after they'd gone on their toilet paper....anything to improve their hygiene and as a result their stomachs if they were infected, but I don't think they actually are.

I guess I will have to continue on the cheaper food for now, but I just don't understand why they have this sensitivity and why even a 'sensitive' recipe one upsets them so bad.

  • What was this 'star' I saw last night?

I live in South west England and it was in the South. It was really large and bright, with an orangey colour, relatively low in the sky, and was impossible to miss. It was about 4 times the size of normal stars. If you had the right equipment I'm sure you could have got some good pictures.

  • Can anyone please help me work out postage for something from UK to USA?

It weighs 4.1kg and I just cannot find any info on the Royal mail or post office websites telling me of a service I can use and it's price. All I can find is info regarding anything up to 2kg and then it says anything over that must be a signed paper or its not allowed, which surely is not true? People post things back and forth all the time. :/

  • Can someone help me with this loan info?

I am looking at a loan, borrowing £7500 for 5 years.

A loan of £7,500 over 5 years will cost you £140.86 per month

You will pay £8,451.50 in total after 5 years, this includes £861.50 interest (at 4.4% fixed) and a £90.00 borrowing fee. The APR is 4.9%

There are no early repayment fees. If I pay back 3 quarters of this money immediately, therefore keeping about £1800 (about the amount I really need), will I still have to make monthly payments of £140.86 or will it become a much lower repayment due to having so much less of the loan left, therefore making monthly repayments more manageable even if the end result is I pay more for the £1800 because of the extra interest which is calculated at the beginning??

  • What happens to a woman's eggs after menopause?

I was just wondering. I know younger people can have eggs harvested or taken out for IVF, so can older people have their eggs taken out and would they work if a surrogate was used, or are they no good then? I wondered thinking of people who are not just older but also younger people who go through premature menopause.

  • Can you have a DSLR refurbished?

I have had mine (a Nikon D5000) for 3or 4 years now, since it first came out. It was my first camera of this type and to be fair I haven't treated it as well as I should have. It still works ok, but the piece of rubber round the viewfinder is broken, and I am just worried that the bits and bobs inside could do with being tightened up, or cleaned- can that be done? I also need a new lens cap.

If so how, where, how much?
