  • Police Investigation Manuals?

Hi everyone, I'm doing a report on police investigation methods and techniques. One thing I really want to do is compare the UK's methods to methods used by other countries. I found it quite easy to find the UK's methods but I'm really struggling to find anything about other countries' methods.

If anyone has any links it would be greatly appreciated

  • my speakers only play on loud?

My speakers have suddenly screwed up and will only play when I put the volume above a certain point; below this point and they simply play no sound.

Does anyone know what could be causing it and how to possibly fix it? Thanks.

  • Powering laptop without charging?

I brought a laptop the other day, ad one thing my friends warned me about was leaving it on charge; apparently most of them just leave it on charge when they're at home and its next to ruined their battery life.

My battery life is only 2hrs, so when I'm at home its obviously more convenient to power it by the mains. I found a dell battery mode which lets me keep the charger plugged in without charging the battery; since leaving it plugged in for four or so hours, it hadn't got hot and the battery life hadn't gone down. Is this good for my battery/laptop?

  • PCSO flexible working hours?

From what I've heard, being a PCSO is a full time job, BUT apparently have flexible working hours.

When I go to uni, would the hours be flexible enough for me to get a job as a PCSO without interfering with my studies?

    Thanks in advance :D

  • Does everyone hate the RMP?

Due to the competitiveness of joining the policeforce at the minute, I'm considering trying to get into the SIB. I don't really care what people think of me or if they hate me, but I was wondering whether or not it's really true that everyone hates the royal military police?

From what I've heard most people do because of their immediate rise in rank, the lack of work they do and because all they really do is pester and tell off soldiers. Is this completely true?

    Cheers in advance :)

  • If the Economy fails completely...?

It would seem that most countries are suffering with economy problems, and a lot of them aren't recovering as they predicted.

What I'm wondering, is that if they do somehow all become as bad as countries like Greece (which I presume/hope is unlikely), what do you think would happen? Do you think there would be wars and revolts?

p.s. I'm not very interested in whether its possible, just what you think would happen

  • Do you think people dress according to what music they like?

Judging from people I know, it seems like people tend to dress differently depending on what kind of music they like.

    Some Examples:

Rock likers dress in punk clothing, tight jeans, dark clothing, etc.

Rap likers dress in sports clothing, chav gear, etc.

Pop likers dress in stylish and modern clothing.

All rounders dress in usual clothing like jeans, t-shirts, etc.

People who like nothing tend to dress really dull.

I know of course that this doesn't apply to everyone.

Do you agree? And to what extent do you think this is true?

  • Do American students have personal statements?

In the UK, when you apply for university via UCAS you have to write a personal statement.

Out of curiosity, do Americans have to do this to? and what process do they take to apply for University or 'College' or whatever term they use :P

  • Should I ask this girl out?

    I'm 17, and looks wise I'd say I was about a 5/10.

So, there's a girl who's also about a 5/10, and she's a nice person although we haven't got much in common. I know if I ask her out she'll say yes, but I'm not sure if I should.

The thing is I've got high standards (which I know I shouldn't) and cant help but think maybe I could do better looks wise and personality wise (someone more like me).

I also plan to move away next year to go to uni so I don't fancy a serious relationship, just some fun, which I'm not sure I'd get with her (I don't mean to sound like a pig, but its the truth). So do you think I should ask her out or wait and try my luck with someone else?

  • Ancient Roman Senate Question?

In the Senate of the Roman Republic was there any particular rank/position which held a significant place for a long period of time. Like roman version of 'the speaker of the house of commons' (only without the regular election).

I'm writing a fiction book set in ancient Rome and I want to use a position to control a secret organisation; but of course this wouldn't work if a person had to face repeated elections.

If there wasn't any position that fits the bill, can you please provide suggestions :) cheers

  • Data roaming annoyance?

Hi, I have a Motorola Flip-out and I'm having trouble; it keeps saying that I cannot data roam then keeps trying to data roam despite me turning it off. If nothing suggested works I'll take it to the shop, but I'd rather try fix it now at home.

Anyone got any useful advice? cheers :)

I know it's not much detail, but there isn't much more to say :P cheers

  • How should labour have handled the bank crisis?

I already have my own opinion on the matter and I don't think labour handled it that badly (of course it still went pretty badly, but it could have gone a lot worse).

Whats annoying me though is how people keep saying all labours fault were're in debt which is true in a way, but they did what they thought was most logical, it just so happens the banks fucked up repeatedly.

SO! What would you have done?
