  • Bush: Cash or credit?

The economic highs during the Bush administration.

I want to settle this question right here and now. Do you think those highs were based on real dollars, or bogus credit like the housing bubble was?

Take your time, explain your answer. I'd really like to know what some people on here believe.

  • Conservatives love big government?

    Apparently they do.

    They want the government to.....

    1. Ban abortion

    2. Ban gay marriage

    3. Keep the pledge of allegiance in schools

    4. Allow prayer in schools

    5. Round up all illegal aliens and deport them

    6. SUBSIDIZE their religious nonsense through tax exemption.

    7. Limit speech when they happen to disagree with it.

The list goes on and on.

For people who don't like big government, they have an awful lot of expectations from a small one.

  • Should we tax non-profits and churches?

I've just about had it with overpaid non-profit executives, and these elaborate churches.

Let's face it, tax exempt status for churches and non-profits is a great idea on paper. The problem is it doesn't work out in practice.

Of course they've got the greatest facade known to man. People really believe what I am saying here is not only wrong, but blasphemous.

Bull. Check the numbers. The numbers don't lie.

For instance, did you know the president of the American Cancer Society makes just shy of 1 million a year? Well he used to. It has now been reduced to a paltry $620,000

    United Way President: $530,000

    Autism Speaks President: $335,000

    AARP: $350,000

    Get this one, lol....

American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education

...as if they needed to be a non-profit. That president's salary is $474,625

Still think we shouldn't levy even a small 10% tax on churches and non-profits that take in over a certain amount?

  • Tax or borrow, which is more appropriate?

As much as many conservatives would like to believe different, I see two fundamental differences between Republicans and Democrats.

    Democrats = Tax and spend

    Republicans = Borrow and spend

Now given that the borrow and spend approach eventually fails, as we've seen, why is it so many are against the "tax and spend" approach? You would think conservatives would be all for it. You know, paying your own way.

Since not spending right now is not an option, especially considering our infrastructure issues, why is it so many "conservatives" are against taxation?

Isn't paying for spending with taxes the right way to go about things, provided we trim the fat and there is minimal waste with spending?

The military, something these fearful individuals love so much, costs money.

    Homeland security, costs money.

Allow churches NOT to pay taxes, costs the rest of us money.

Giving tax breaks to farmers, costs the rest of us money.

Giving tax breaks to corporations, costs the rest of us money.

There is an endless list of conservative initiatives that flat out COST MONEY.

So what's the problem with taxes?

The Bush administration borrowed the first 4 years, and they still reelected him in 2004. Isn't borrowing far more irresponsible and anti-conservative than taxing?

  • The Mason-Dixon line?

I can't help but think after reading all the conservadrivel that maybe the civil war was a bad idea.

I mean really. The more I see how divided we are, the more I would like to see us divided. This makes no sense. What is the point of having "one nation" when it's really not. It's two or three nations coexisting with one another.

I say we divvy up the states and let the conservatives go their own way. No more tax money from the rich blue states for their nonsense. No more childish nonsense from the few lousy Republicans left in congress.

Maybe it's time to pack it in, call it a day, and split this rock down the middle?

So my question is, if we could vote on dividing up the country between conservatives and liberals, would you vote yes or no?

I like to consider myself an independent, but I know a liability when I see one. Conservatives as a constituency are a liability to not only this country, but the world. I'd vote yes in a heartbeat.

  • Who kept the country more safe? Clinton or Bush?

This is one of those questions I already know the answer to, but I'm dying to see what sort of answers it gets. What do you think?

  • Why is unemployment so high?

    Here's the answer.

    "Made in China"

    "Distributed by ABC Company"

    "Assembled in USA"

All of these things mean either the product or parts to make it came from abroad.

So my real question is more of a test.

How many items can you find in your home that are made in America? (excluding kids and printed money)

Name them here please because I'm still looking myself and can't find a thing.

  • The Stimulus Check: Do you think some should get nothing?

I didn't vote for Bush. In fact, I voted against him. As bad as John Kerry is/was, he was definitely a better choice than the disaster we have now.

That being said, I am very resentful of the mentally unarmed folks who voted in Bush for a second term. I guess I can forgive the first, but the second?

Anyway, since these folks love him so much, and think he's doing such a bang-up job, why should they get a stimulus check?

...or as I call it, a "Democrat reparations check".

I think these folks should get nothing, and we should get their "share" in the form of a larger amount. They should be left to wallow in their poor decisions, and play the cards they dealt themselves.

Only then will they learn from their mistakes.

Instead, you know what's going to happen? The next president, probably a Democrat, will have to PAY for this "stimulus" package. They will take all the blame, while Bush escapes yet again with undeserved gratitude.

    What do you think?

  • What motivates you to vote for a presidential candidate?

This question has nothing to do with any of them. Any answer that involves the name of a candidate will definitely not be picked as the best answer. If you mention a party, you are also disqualified.

That being said, what makes you want to vote for someone?

What issues are the most important to you, and why?

Of those issues, what would you like to see done about them?

What kind of timing are you looking for? Do you expect anyone to fix the oil crisis within 3 months of taking office? How soon do you expect the new president to deliver on the issues you're concerned about?

Do you carefully consider a candidate's record before voting?

Do you just like or dislike the way a candidate looks?

    What?
