  • 86 Subaru Leone GL should i buy?

First, im trying to get a cheap reliable car for the winter. after winter i will be fixing it up.

Long story short, in the market for a car. I have the opportunity to buy a 1986 subaru Leone GL. orininal 166k miles two owners, the woman who has it now is about 60 ish and bought the car from her mother, twenty years ago, who bought it new.

i posted a detailed thread on rs25 and cannot for the life of me remember my username, pass, or which email i used on nasioc.

    http://www.rs25.com/forums/f4/t203082-86-leone-gl-...

for those who didnt click the link, car has a decent amount of body rust. two bad spots, the rest is all surface. owner took car to mechanic a while ago and mech said theres a bad wheel bearing front right, she then drove it home, parked it and bought and different car. i could not feel see hear any signs of a bad bearing..

and last the shifter is super sloppy, does not spring back to neutral. limp. bad springs, bushings...replace entire Ujoint? clutch is fine. also no leaks, squeeks or knock.

im curious if anyone knows more about the leone gl. its hard cause most the subes from the 80-90 get called GL's. But im wondering what knowledgeable people would recommend. is it worth it, how hard are parts to find for this model

BTW i have owned my fair share of subarus (mostly late 90s and early 2k), i love working on them and know quite a bit, but this is a new game for me.

  • Viridian C5 Green Laser not working.?

I bought a Viridian Green laser model C5 on 6-15-11 from a local gun shop. The laser was working fine and then i noticed it seemed a little dimmer the last time i used it. Yesterday the C5 did not turn on so i figure the battery was dead. I got a new battery, installed it and still nothing. The laser does not turn on. I don't know if, maybe, the diode burnt out or if there is a bad connection from the buttons... I just have no idea. It has not gotten wet, dropped, damaged or anything on my part that would cause it to malfunction.

Warranty: Viridian offers a 12 month warranty. It also says do not return to store, call them. I bought it less than a month ago but i didnt register it until yesterday. Am i SOL? I am just curious if anyone has had this problem with their Viridian or if anyone would know if i registered it to late...

I will be calling them in the morning, its been the weekend, and the are only open M-F 8-4, i have not talked to anyone yet. I'll find out tomorrow but just was curious if anyone knew.

    Thanks

  • Sold a car, buyer might want his money back?

I sold a car yesterday to a guy from out of state. The guy I bought it from said that at 100k miles he rebuilt the engine, the car now has 197k miles. The person who just bought it from me called and said "I am taking it to a mechanic to see if it was rebuilt and if it wasnt I am getting my money back" My only worry is if the person i bought it from lied to ME about the rebuild. And can they even tell if it was rebuilt seeing as it would have been almost 100k miles later?

Is there anything the person that bought it from me can do if it turns out it wasnt rebuilt? Is he entitled to get his money back or is he just stuck with the car? Is there anything he can do like sue me if i refuse to take the car back and give him back his money?

I live in Utah, and he lives in Las Vegas. about a 2 hour drive. In case there is any state laws or something.

  • USAF CLRP only repays debt or pays for school?

Something I have been trying to figure out. With the military CLRP (college loan replacement plan) do they only REpay and help with student debt or do the actually pay for your schooling while attending school (before starting service). By that I mean, I have not been going to school but I want to start and get a degree before joining so I'll be enlisted as O-1. So will the pay for my school or do i have to get loans to go to school and then they'll pay a percent of the loan off.

Question 2: assuming they only help pay for the already acquired debt, would that mean that i enlist immediately? Or if they DO pay for school while I'm attending, how long after I agree to do the CLRP do I have before I'm actually sent off to base?

  • Pre-ban AR-15 why'd i buy it?

Today, on a whim, i bought a Colt pre ban AR-15. I live in Utah, where there is not a ban on these gun anymore anyways. I have always loved ar's, this is my fourth one. I bought it with plans to get the proper stamps (the stamp and ffl is not the issue) and get a DIAS (Drop in Auto Sear). The more i look into it, the more i find that it doesn't matter if its pre ban or post. SO my question is, Why did i even bother paying more for a pre ban? Is it just because they are a collectible now? I know in some states like NY, that still have a ban, people buy them to get around it, but whats the point of getting one in a state doesn't have those regulations? I feel torn, do the the fact that i feel ive wasted my money. :[
