  • Are Electric Cars going to be worth it?

    I just want to know what people are thinking about the new completely electric cars that are starting to come out. (Chevy Volt for example)

    Personally I don't think they are all that practical, sure in places like california or anywhere with a warm climate i suppose, but what about cold climate locations. Having an electric heater would suck up all the battery life. And also, it wasn't that long ago (2003 i think) that we had a marjor northeast blackout. Well.. what happens when everyone plugs their cars in at night? Now there is huge demand on our power stations which many still run on coal. how is that any better?

    Personally i rather see dirty cars getting pulled off the road and replaced with normal cleaner cars, and getting coal burning plants shut down. The electric cars wont replace people's cars if they are big highway drivers, it's going to be a replacement for people who drive short distances in the cities and probably use small efficient cars anyways! To me this is all media making it sound like it's some great thing but in actuallity it's not all that practical and wont even put a dent into our total emissions. Thoughts????

  • Shell call in VB STUDIO not working properly. (Advanced)?

    I have a DOS based EXE that i'm trying to call. When I open the EXE through explorer, Run on the Start menu It opens the EXE with some text asking the user for a year. If i create an access form and make the shell call to the EXE from inside VBA the EXE opens fine, If i use the SHELL call in VB Studio it opens the EXE without any text. the programs default is a grey background instead of the usual black, so i know it's opening the EXE but all i see is the grey background and no text. Why does it work in VBA but not VB studio???? are they different shell commands? is there a library i must referenece?

  • Ok, Another riddle. can you get this one?

    3 guys get a hotel for the night. (Who cares why, not important..who am I to question other people's lifestyle choices! lol) anyways.... The manager charges them $30 for the room which works out so each man pays $10. Later that night the manager realizes that he was only suppose to charge $25 for the room. He sends the bell boy to the room with the change.

    The men, realizing that $5 will be hard to split evenly only take $3 and give the bell boy the other $2.

    Now, each man has now paid $9 for the room.

    9x3 = 27 plus the $2 for the bell boy makes $29

    Where is the missing dollar?

  • Bike Insurance cost for 23y old male?

    Just looking to get an idea of how much insurance might be on a bike. I'm 23, male, and i would only start out with a 125CBR or Ninja250. Anyone have any ideas on what i should be looking at for price? I plan on using StateFarm because they only look at the CC's of the bike. (Or so I have been told)

  • Why would UAW refuse deal? something better than nothing?

    Why would the UAW refuse the cuts that were required for the bailout to pass? Wouldn't less pay still be better than no pay at all? Seems kinda greedy to me! Also, why does the government not just give a tax deduction for domestic cars? It would cost less for the government, no debt to service for the business and it would help people and the economy by promoting domestic car sales! (plus it would make cars more affordable for people in tough times) Why does that not seem to be an option?
