8 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoJavascript concatination of strings?
I know that I can add 2 numbers
i.e.
var x = 1;
var y = 1;
var total = parseInt(x) + parseInt(y);
I know that I dont really need the parseInt(), but it tells javascript to treat the variable as an Integer...
Now if I have 2 numbers, but i DONT want Javascript to add them, i just want to concatenate them together....how do i do that?
i.e.
var x = 1;
var y = 2;
i want to be able to do x+y, and get "12"

4 AnswersFord1 decade agoCar Insurance / Flood Questions?
2 Weeks ago my area was completely flooded (Albany park, Chicago), and my car was parked on the side of the road near the flooding.
I didnt actually see the car in any water because we evacuated. When we came back the following tuesday, the car started fine, i let it run for about 30 seconds, then shut it off. I figured we were ok, since there were no visable signs of flooding on the interior, and the car started.
We dont use the car that much, it's our 3rd vehicle, but my wife went to take it to school the following saturday morning and it wouldnt start...it cranked, but did not turn over...
I popped the hood and removed the spark plug caps, there was water in the spark plug caps and the spark plugs were visibly corroded. I would have changed them except Ford buries the spark plugs on the underside of the engine and it would have been an all day project.
I didnt know what else would have been affected by flood water, so i called in a claim to my insurance company.
The garage called back today and said a representative from the insurance company came by to look at the car, and said that i needed a new fuel pump and a tune-up, and that they arent going to cover the claim because the damage is inconsistent with flooding.
My question is, would there be any way for water to get inside the fuel pump either from 3 days of heavy rain, or by being submerged in flood water? And if so, wouldnt that constitute "flood damage"??

3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoIndian Food / Whats this green stuff?
I recently ate indian food for the first time and loved it, its was a buffet, and it was damn good. I decided to order take out today and get a littlew more adventurous. I got a veggie combo with
-Veggie Samosas (they were good)
- Veggie Biryani (also good)
- Veggie Curry (spicy but good)
- Naan
Now I could make out what everything was except for this little ( think the size of the container the chinese restaurant gives you for sweet sour sauce) tub of green stuff.
It looked very much like pureed spinach. It was spicy like the curry, and tasted like spinach. It was very oily.
Was it spinach? What was I supposed to do with it? Someone help me!
11 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoStiff the Delivery Guy?
8 weeks ago I moved to Chicago, where of course everything is higher priced. I used to tip when I got food delivered, as it was customary...at least 15% if the food was on-time and hot and fresh.
In Chicago, the delivery drivers dont have as far to go, but do have to deal with traffic and high gas prices. But most of the places that deliver to my house already charge $2.50-$4.00 for delivery on top of the price of your order.
On a $25.00 order thats already 10-15%, so most of the time I dont tip the driver. Why do I feel like a schmuck? Does anyone else think i'm justified?
6 AnswersOther - Dining Out1 decade agoChar Siu in Chicago?
I work in Chinatown (cermak) in Chicago and wanted to make some fried rice tonight when i got home because i have a ton of leftover rice. Does anybody know where I can buy Char Siu (chinese bbq pork), by the pound.
I would make it myself but it takes a long time. Also I hear that Wing Chan on South China Place has good Char Siu, but i dont think they sell it by the pound...

1 AnswerEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoWhat are the safest neighborhoods in the Chicago area?
We are a young family with two small children relocating to Chicago. We have no clue what the safe neighborhoods are, and what are not so safe. Everybody has an opinion about what areas we shouldn't live it, and it is confusing!! Suburbs are ok too. Where are the best places to live in the area for families?

12 AnswersSt. Louis1 decade agoCheap PC Repair?
If there was a service available on the internet, that was legit. Where for $9.95 flat rate labor + parts + shipping you could send your computer off to get repaired, to have spy-ware and viruses removed, operating systems reinstalled, upgrades performed and even New systems built for you. And... turn around time was about a week...
would you consider it a good deal? and if your computer was in need of repair, would you use it?
2 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoMySpace CSS IE / Firefox issue?
i realize that firefox and IE render CSS differently because of the way the code is parsed.
You cant use javascript to correct CSS issues in myspace, nor can you use a Link rel="stylesheet", usually i would use a <!--[if IE]> statement to check the browser, then link to the appropriate stylesheet.....myspace blocks the <link> tag...
any other way to get around my firefox layout looking like crap?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoMySql to CSV cron script?
I know i Can use phpmyAdmin to export a table to a .csv file. However, I'm looking for script that i can run as a cron job that will automatically put the file in a directory that i designate.
I thought that surely there were some already written, but when i searched google, all i could find were scripts that used the "header" function to let you download the file via a prompt box, this wont work as a cron job.
Does anyone know where i can download such a script?
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoPHP/Mysql/MSSQL Blocked Ports Problem?
I recently moved my website to godaddy shared hosting because my webserver on my local network wasnt fast enough.
I had a cron job that ran each night to pull data from my MSSQL server (shipping database) to my MySQL server (reporting database) and everything worked fine.
I moved my website out to godaddy, and because they block ports incoming and outgoing on the server, i cannot access my remote database from a local script and i cannot access local databases from a remote script, there for the connection between Godaddy's mySQL server, and my local MSSQL server is lost.
Is there anyway around this, I was thinking if there was a script available to export the data from MSSQL to XML or some other flat file, then putting a script on the remote server to pick up that file via HTTP, and import it into the MySQL Database???
help!!!
