Physics question about air resistance?
A skydiver and parachute have a mass of 100 kg. Immediately after her chute is open, she feels a force of air resistance equal to 1400 N. Determine her acceleration (magnitude and direction) in that instant in time, and determine the force of air resistance she encounters when she reaches a lower terminal velocity. (The lower refers to her initial terminal velocity before opening her chute.)
Any help would be great. Thanks!
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoHelp on a physics question?
A firefighter with a mass of 100 kg slides down a vertical pole at a constant speed of 1 m/s. Determine:
a. his acceleration in the direction of the ground
b. the force of friction provided by the pole
I know that Force = Mass x Acceleration and Acceleration = Force/Mass, but it seems like you have to have one to get the other?
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoHelp disconnecting a Canon FS200 camcorder - safely remove hardware isn't working.?
I am trying to download the videos from my Canon FS200 camcorder and am having a world of troubles. I have been at it for about two hours now, and have very painstakingly gotten my videos downloaded (I think.) Now my screen says: "WHILE THE CAMCORDER IS CONNECTED TO A PC DO NOT DISCONNECT THE USB CABLE OR POWER SOURCE - CANNOT TURN OFF POWER OR CHANGE MODES." Naturally, I went to the "Safely Remove Hardware" program. When I click the hardware I want to remove, I get a message that says: "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later." I am at my wits end. I've searched a lot of forums, they all say to try "Safely Remove Hardware." What should I do?
3 AnswersCamcorders1 decade agoGood colleges for the arts in or near South Carolina?
After extensive research, I was wondering if anyone knows of any good colleges in or near South Carolina for the arts - preferably theatre. I'd like to get a M.T.A. and minor in psycology or English. I also need to find a college with good academic scholarships; I get very good grades but am not athletic whatsoever. I'm also very conservative and it would be great to find an arts college that isn't extremely liberal. Thanks!
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoMy computer is very slow - it's new and I have already tried . . .?
I've defragmented it, run a virus scan, run a spyware scan, and restarted it. It's still as slow as ever, and I just got it new in April, and has 53.7 GB of free space - only 6.26 GB are used up. Is there anyone who can help me? Know any tricks other than what I've already tried? Thanks so much in advance.
10 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoDizzy spells where I can't see and lose sense of direction?
Sometimes I have these dizzy spells, sometimes when I stand up too fast, sometimes when I stretch a certain way. The most minor ones only last a few seconds and I see spots. Usually though, they about five to ten seconds and I can't see a thing. Today, I had one and so I leaned against the wall because I'm always afraid I'm going to fall. I knew something was happening but I couldn't see and was dizzy, and I had lost all sense of direction. When my vision finally cleared, I was on the floor. I didn't hurt myself, but it worries me that I couldn't even discern that I was falling. I've heard this could be a sign of anemia. My mom is hypo-glycemic, but I eat pretty healthy and had just had a fair sized meal this last time. If anyone has an idea what this could be, please let me know. Thanks!
4 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoRoasting Lamb for Complete Amatures (Help me out, please)?
I'm a vegetarian, and don't cook meat except on Passover, which is today. I've looked this up, but it has recipes which assume some experience with cooking meat . . .
I cook a lot, but never meat and I'm afraid if I do it wrong someone will get sick. I also have to make sure ALL the blood is cooked out (in accordance to Passover tradition) so it can't be rare or medium or rather anything but well done. I've actually never roasted anything before - last year I used a frying pan and stove. Could someone please walk me through the roasting process step by step?
6 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoUpdating windows start menu?
Thanks for looking, I hope you can help me. My question's pretty simple - I just got a laptop and want to make the display as much like my desktop as possible. Both computers run on windows XP, but the start menu (unlike everything else) on my laptop seems to be stuck in like, windows 2000 or something. I'm not terribly computer illiterate, but as you can tell by my wording, I'm not a technology expert either. Basically, I want to know how to go from this: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd275/007_yesik...

Sorry about the rubbish pictures. You get the point, though. Thanks so much, God Bless,

1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoCould I get a little help with some algebra?
If someone could explain how to work this problem, I'd be very grateful. The problem is: 12A^2 (that is, 12A to the second power) - 6AB. I'm to find the GCF, which I've done (it's six), but now I have to simplify using parentheses. I'm lost. And . . . if possible could you explain rather than just giving the answer? I need to learn as I have about ten more like it.
