  • DeVry or another school?

Hello everyone, I really want to go back to school and get my degree but I am having trouble deciding which school I would want to go to. I want to get a bachelors in computer information systems and I currently have a job in the IT field. My job requires a lot of travel so I would have to take online classes, I am also a veteran and I have the GI Bill to cover the tuition costs for me. Here is my problem, I talked to a counselor at DeVry and they said I could take my classes online with them and get my degree in about 3 years, but I have read a lot of people saying that some employers don't really take degrees from DeVry seriously. I have a lot of work experience in the IT field I just need a degree so that I can move up to a better position and DeVry seems to be a quick option for me. My question is, should I go to DeVry or should I go to another school like a community college? Any recommendations would be great, thanks for reading!

  • What are my options with this credit card?

Ok, so before I begin, keep in mind that I fully understand that I am a complete idiot for doing this. Now that that's out of the way, lets begin.

So I am 22 years old and have no credit. I have always paid for everything with cash, and have always had enough cash to get by on. I realize now that I need to start building credit, and figured now is a good time to start. I just got a new job that requires a lot of travel, 6 flights a month and a lot of hotel stays. They ask me to put a credit card down to pay and then I am refunded all the money. Because I do not have any credit it is hard for me to get a decent credit card so I decided to get one with my bank to get the best deal. I have been with my bank for 4 years and have never had a negative balance, I have a checking account, savings account, and a couple mutual funds with them. So I filled out my information and was thrilled to find out that I was approved for a credit card with really low APR and no annual fee, so I completed the rest of the steps on the website and got the credit card. The only problem is after I completed everything, I realized the limit on the card was only going to be $300. I was hoping to get something closer to $1500 which is obviously a HUGE difference. What are my options here? Could I realistically expect them to raise my limit because I have been with them for so long? Or am I totally screwed. Either way I plan on calling them tomorrow to explain the situation, but I would like to know more about what options I have before calling. Thanks to anyone that offers and advice.

  • Can anyone offer career advice?

Here's my current situation, I have 2 job offers both are really good jobs. 1 is here where I currently live (CA) and the other is in Texas. I have lived in Texas before so relocating back over there is no problem, but to be honest I am a little tired of moving because I have moved a lot in the past. The job in Texas starts at $50k/yr and the job in CA starts at $60k/yr which with the cost of living difference the pay is pretty much identical. The job in TX directly relates to what I am studying in school, while the job in CA has nothing to do with what I am studying but will keep me closer to my relatives. I really think I should just pack up and go back to TX because working for the company over their will benefit me in the future once I graduate, but I also know staying here in CA will be a lot easier on me because of the fact I have support from my relatives in the area. Anyone have any advice for me? Anything will be appreciated.
