  • Ideal Gas Law Problem Help?

Hello, I need some help with my chemistry homework.

At 25 degrees Celsius and 1.0 atmospheric pressure, a balloon contains a micture of four ideal gases: oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and helium. The partial pressure due to each gas is 0.25 atmosphere. Use the ideas of the kinetic molecular theory to answer each of the following questions:

A.) Rank the gases in increasing order for the following and explain:

    i.) Density:

    ii.) Average Kinetic Energy:

    iii.) Average Molecular Velocity:

B.) How would the volume of the balloon be affected by each of the following changes to the system?

i.) The gas mixture was replaced with an equal number of moles of pure Oxygen.

C.) What changes to the temperature and pressure of the gases would cause deviation from ideal behavior and which gas would be most affected.

If you know the answers to any OR all of them, please help me out and explain.

    Thanks!

  • Ideal Gas Law Problem Help?

Hello, I've worked out this problem but I'm certain that the answers I got are wrong.

Group II metal (alkali earth metal) carbonates decompose when heated. You heat .158 grams of a white, solid alkali metal carbonate and find that the evolved gas has a pressure of 69.8 mmHg in a 285 mL flask at 24.8 degrees Celsius.

a.) Using X as the symbol for the unknown Group II metal, write a balanced chemical equation for the decomposition of the compound.

b.) Convert the pressure in mmHg to atm. (I got this one right)

c.) Calculate the number of moles of the evolved gas.

d.) Identify the alkali earth metal. Support your answer mathematically.

e.) If the products of this decomposition reaction are added to water in two sperate containers what will happen to the pH of the water in each container? Explain. (You can use a balanced chemical equation for part of your explanation).

Thanks! Please help me out if you know the answers!

  • I Need Ideas for the 60's?

We have to do a presentation along with our project about the 1960's decade. We've decided to do a pretend show on which we highlight the 1960's and then have a pretend Beatles performance. I like the idea but it's kind of embarrassing, so I need other ideas for performances we can do. It can be a comedy, skit, anything. Just shoot me some ideas.

    Thanks.
