  • I'm trying to improve these sentences.?

I'm trying to improve these sentences.

    1672 Panama

Guillermo Leon looked across his small farm and hoped that the sun would not burn his crop. A small stream trickled down the mountainside and it was barely sufficient to water the plants he had grown to support his wife and young daughter.

  • What does the name Cosette mean?

I was reading Le Miserables, and was wondering what Cosette means. I can't find a translation. The closest thing I can get is little thing. In Spanish cosa means thing. Cosita means little thing. So it should sound similar to that in French.

    Any ideas?

  • How do I find a very old book?

Rummaging through some of my father's old books, I found an old copy of Robinson Crusoe that once belonged to my Great-Great Grandfather. This is an awesome find. The book is kind of beat up. It must be pre- 1930's. After opening the book I found that the first 14 pages are gone. Bummer! I want to restore this book. In order to do that I need the first 14 pages. I need to find a copy of Robinson Crusoe (1030's edition) Appletons publishers.

What can I do to find a copy of this book?

    I already checked e-bay and amazon...nothing.

  • How long can powdered (canned) milk last?

Cleaning out my mom's garage we found cans of powdered milk. It dates from 1996. I know that it probably won't be any good to drink, but can that milk be used in recipes? What can be done with it?

I just don't want to throw away all that food.

    Thanks everyone!

  • What was your greatest find in a used book store?

I love used book stores. A friend of mine found a copy of Ben Hur (1880) for $2. I have bought tons of cool books, and even found some great deals at the local library for free.

    Share your story.

    Thanks!!

  • Why do you like Christopher Paolini?

I have tried to read Eragon and can't get into it. Part of it is that he was 17 years old when he wrote it. Another is I just finished Return of the King and I guess I am comparing stories.

What do you like about his books.

    Thanks!

  • Which is an earlier version of a first edition?

I have two 1942 editions of Lloyd C. Douglas' The Robe. One is in fantastic shape, looks new, the other one is a little beat up. Both have the dust covers. The copyright inside both books say 1942 (the year the book was originally printed). However the dust covers are different. Both books are book club editions. The nicer book says that the book has been read by millions all over the world. The beat up one just lightly discusses the book.

In some older books it will state which re-printing the book came from,(even within the same year) these do not. Where can I look to see which book is older? In the end, to find out which book is more valuable.

By the way, The Robe is an awesome book, one of the best I have ever read, and I read a LOT.

My son wants to do a science project using magnets. I read that if you blend Total with water you can see the cereal (blended) move because of the iron content.

  • Who can explain the show Lost to me?

In the episode D.O.C. the guys find a woman who parachuted in and supposedly punctured a lung... when it gets fixed the one eyed Russian tells them it will take a day for her to get better. In an earlier episode Sawyer gets shot in the shoulder and he almost dies. Later Jack fixes him, but he is out for a couple of days. ummm why is his shoulder wound worse than a punctured lung. Also when Said beats up Ben, why does Ben keep the scars for weeks and weeks?

    help

Ive been watching Lost on Netflix and really enjoying it. I just need this stuff cleared up.
