?

I keep seeing post by people asking questions like "can I get a refund" I'm wondering if anyone actually knows their Statutory Rights as a consumer in the UK, or have we become a nation where we don't ask questions in-store and do as the staff tell us? Do people understand how contracts are made, do people believe staff when they say "its the manufactures problem not ours"?
