  • Proper fuel mixture for old chainsaw?

    Hey everyone.

Today I was given an older McCullouch chainsaw. It is the yellow and black Mini Mac 35. From looking at it I would guess manufacture date is somewhere from late 60's to mid 70's. Definitely aluminum cylinder with a chrome lining or plating.

What would be the proper mix rating for such a engine?

I normally mix 40:1 for my leaf blower, weed trimmer, and Stihl chainsaw but this stuff is all much newer. Is it safe to assume I can use 40:1 or should I go richer?

    - A little added amusement for everybody. My friend didn't know much at all about the saw. It came with a tank full of fuel, I drained it off and it looked like a nice dark apple cider. Plus, it does have a new spark plug and an almost new chain. The carb is enjoying a good soaking in cleaner. I got a good feeling that if I dump in some mix gas and some bar oil that it should run.

  • Replacement heat-sink or fans for xbox 360?

    Hey everyone,

I'm now an owner of an xbox 360, i bought it used so I have no warranty coverage on it. I'm looking to pre-emptively replace the x-clips and enhance its cooling abilities to avoid the red ring of death. I'm fairly experienced in working on electronics and have repaired some of the older X-box consoles so I'm confident in my abilities.

Do you know of any good heat sinks or fans that you would recommend?

I'm not too picky on either keeping the original shell or doing a case upgrade. I also have tooling to drill and tap in case there is a good heat-sink but won't line up correctly as is. Any input would be appreciated.

  • Which AR-15 variant is for me?

I'm pretty uneducated about the AR-15, but I'm not new to guns. I have a few ideas of what I'm looking for, but I'm looking for input and brand name suggestions.

I am looking at spending upto or around $1000. I want something with a flat-top upper so I can use a scope or one of the removable carry handles. I would prefer a mil-spec chamber. I'm not so picky on barrel length, unless there is a good reason for any particular length. I think it should have a 1 in 9" twist as that I would use 50-60 grain bullets. I have little preference on furniture type or color as that I intend on retro-fitting the furniture to look like an M16A1.

I have built some AKs from kits, so I am open to the concept of assembling my own AR15 from parts if a good upper and lower are made by different companies; otherwise I could also buy an assembled model. I would prefer to avoid finish reaming a chamber if I must assemble it.

I would appreciate suggestions on brand name guns or uppers and lowers.

  • Swap an HP 26 Black for a HP 29 Black?

Whoever knows this one is really going to earn their 10 points.

I have a very old HP Deskjet 692C made around 1997 I believe. It calls for a Black 29 ink cartridge. Before owning this printer I had an even older 500c that took HP 26 black cartridges. In looking at the two cartridges they are nearly identical except the top cap on the 26 is green and the top cap on the 29 is blue. The dimensions are the same, even the electrical contact points on the strip on back of both cartidges match. Is it possible that I could swap out these cartridges as that I have probably a dozen left over from my 500c?

  • Welders - Lincoln 100HD or 3200HD?

    Hey Everyone,

I am looking to get a welder. These 2 models are in my price range (I get Home Depot gift certificates through work, so it costs me nothing) and I like both for various reasons. On both the welding wire is electrically dead until the trigger is squeezed.

I like the 3200HD because it comes with the regulator and hose to convert to gas use. As far as I understand the 100HD doesn't include these extras. The 100HD looks a little smaller than the 3200HD. Although the 3200HD says it can do up to 5/16" with multipass techniques. Plus the 3200HD takes the big spools instead of just 4" spools, so I would waste less wire in the long run during spool changes.

I plan on welding mostly steel upto 1/4" thick but more around 3/16" sometimes 1/8". Some day I may do aluminum, hence why I was thinking about the 3200HD set up for gas use.

Anyone care to make a recommendation for me.

  • Dremel Tool Engraving Bit?

Is there a special trick to using this bit? Every time I try to use it, the bit skips around on the metal surface I am working on. I have only used it in the dremel tool with a simple on/off switch, I haven't used an adjustable speed one because I don't own one. I could probably borrow one if this model is needed instead.

I am trying to add some letters and numbers to a piece of sheet steel. The steel is not heat treated so it is in soft form. It is 4130, if that helps.
