  • Council House damages?

My daughter and her partner gave up their tenancy on a council house in March 2017. Today 5th October 2017 they received a letter from the council with a bill for the repair costs.

Their property was disgusting before they moved in every room had ceilings that were covered in Graffiti. It was well under the standard that they left it in.

How long do a council have to bill someone in circumstances like this?

  • Problem with Kia Sedona 2.9 diesel (2003) main drive belt.?

I am trying to install a new main drive belt to my Sedona as the old one disintegrated. There are a couple of problems I am experiencing. 1. The grooved cog on the alternator does not appear to be in line with the other cogs so consequently it keeps forcing the new belt off. 2. I cannot find the tensioner. I have searched the net and nothing compares to what I have. I am just wondering if it one of the 2 grooveless cogs (black) I have on mine and if so how is it operated.as there appears to be no adjustment nut.

  • Leave and work?

My line manager is threatening to cancel my leave due to a problem he created himself due to bad planning.

My leave was submitted well in advance so he can t say he didn t have enough warning.

If he cancels my leave he will probably try to put it down to work commitments for a planned event but the real reason would be his inability to foresee possible work commitments for this event when my leave request landed on his desk and he is the Events manager.

The real reason will be to try and get himself out of trouble with the big boss when the boss realises that the Events manager has not planned properly.

If my leave is cancelled would I have grounds for constructive dismissal because the fact that my Events manager has made a boo boo would not be a suitable reason for cancelling my leave. UK only please.

I am just entering my 7th week of sick leave.

  • Driving company vehicles?

I work for a small business and we have 1 small works van which several people drive. We have a vehicle booking out log which is supposed to be filled in by ALL the drivers but it isn't. My fear is that one day, after I have signed the vehicle back in, someone else will use it and cause damage but my name will be against the vehicle as the last user.

I know that companies can be fined if they fail to provide a drivers name for things like speeding but is there somewhere in law in the UK which states that ALL drivers must fill out a vehicle useage log?

  • Forces cap badges and their origins?

I am going through some personal belongings of my late father in law for my mother in law. I have come across two forces cap badges but the mother in law, bless her, can't remember which armed force or unit they are from.

The first badge has a clenched fist in a gauntlet surrounded by a pair of arrows on each side with a crown on top and the letters RAC on the gauntlet.

The second badge has three feathers with a crown surrounding the feathers in the middle, the outer edges of a flying pendant on each edge between the feathers and the crown and a bar across the bottom of it with the words ICH DEIN on it.

I know my father in law served at Dunkirk and in Burma.

Could anyone give me details on the forces unit, more than likely Army, that these cap badges refer to or a link to a web site that might be able to help.

    Many thanks

  • Definitions of medical terms?

Please explain in simple terms the definition of the following:

    Co-morbidities

    Hypercholesterolaemia

    Hypertension

    Hypothyroid

    Hypothyroidism

I have tried Google but without much success as they just seem to use the above words as medical text without giving an explanation to their whole meaning.

  • A bit of an employment scenario?

There are two employees working for the same company. One has been asked to work a normal working day which just happens to be a Saturday to assist a sub contractor.

The second employee has been given the opportunity to work on his day off to assist the same sub contactor but on time and a half.

So you have two guys working for the same company doing the same job but on different rates. Is this allowed in employment law if so how can the company get around it.

Your thougts on this would be apprciated just need the information for a course I am doing.

  • Kia Sedona brake change front & rear?

I am trying to find the cheapest place on line to purchase a complete set of Brakes and associated equipment to do a front and rear brake change on a 2003 Kia Sedona 2.9 diesel.

The front brakes are discs and pads the rear brakes are drums and shoes.

I would also be interested in any websites that give a detailed illustration of where each part goes or a video showing where each part goes preferably including the positioning of each spring.

Please include any information on specialist tools like spring tools, basically anything that will make my life easier when I do the change.

It would appear that Haynes do not do a manual for the Sedona.

    Many thanks in advance.

I want to add an additional parking slot to the front of my property. I currently have a concrete drive but need another area to park a car on. I want to use gravel.

How far down do I need to dig to give a good layer of both base and gravel. Are there any drainage issues that need to be complied with. How do you work out what quantities of base and gravel will be required and what is the best of each to use.
