  • Justin Bieber's deceased Great Grandfather's name?

I know his grandma's maiden name is Dianne Corbeil, and his great grandma's married name is Estelle Corbeil. Does anyone know the name of Estelle's husband, who I assume is deceased. His last name would be Corbeil.

  • Justin Bieber's Grandparents' surname? Dale or Mallette?

I've heard Justin's mom (Patricia Lynn Mallette) is French Canadian, so I wanted to research her family tree. However, I can't get passed her parents, because I keep seeing their last name as Dale, and not Mallette. Did her mom, Dianne, get divorced and remarried to a Dale? or is Dale a nickname? or is that their real surname and Mallette is just a nickname Pattie took up?

Could someone explain it to me?

  • Help with a somewhat rare German surname?

My Great Great Great Grandparents were Jacob Bosel and Anna Stadley.

Jacob Bosel was born in 1815 in Bavaria, and died in 1884 in Detroit. Anna was born in 1828 in Bavaria, and died in 1887 in Detroit.

They had the following children in Detroit

    John (1853-1924)

    Francis (1858-1903)

    Ann (1860-1860)

    Jacob (1861-1911)

    Frank Xavier (1864-1896)

    Peter (1865-1930)

    Mary (1868-1904)

    Joseph (1872-1910)

so I know they were in the US by 1853. I found a ship record from England that sailed to New York in June 1852 that had a Jacob Bosel, born 1816 on it, and an Anna Bosel, born 1828 on it, but they weren't anywhere near each other on the passenger list. Could this be them?

Today, the name is pronounced as 'Boe'-'sell'. But my grandmother said the name used to be pronounced like 'Bo-zull'. With almost no vowel sound between the last S and L.

I found the family on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census in Detroit, each way with their name spelled differently. In 1860, it was written as Bolsle. in 1870 it was Bossel, and in 1880, it is Bosel like it is today.

I can't go back any further than this though. I'm hardly finding any records with the name Bosel at all. What advice do you have to find their roots in Germany? I've been scouring the internet for a good 2 and a half years and have found nothing of them in Germany. Thanks for your help!

  • How can I verify a story in my family tree like this?

There is a story in my family that one of my ancestor's George W Dixon, born in 1849 in England, played in the Queen's military band in England, and then when they toured in Canada, he never went back and moved to upstate New York. This happened sometime between 1865 and 1870. Is there any way I could verify this? I can hardly find any information on the military band in itself, let alone individual people from 150 years ago.

I have been researching George W. Dixon for well over 2 years and this is still a big mystery to me. When he lived in Upstate New York, he did start a Dixon family band with his family, and there are pictures of him with a French Horn. Does anyone know what I could do to find out this information?

  • How do you say the long 'O' sound in an Australian accent?

I hear all these people from Australia, not so much England, say words that end in a long O sound say it so cool! I've tried to say it but I can't. It kind of sounds like O with a bit of a U or an R on the end. You know? Can anyone help with how to pronounce it?

  • On the 1880 US census, what does a birthplace of "Biem" mean?

On the 1880 for ancestor I have, she listed her mother's place of Birth as "Biem"

Now I know this is probably an abbreviation of something but I can't find anywhere online where it says this name. I know she was born in Germany, but close to the French border. I just don't have a clue what "Biem" is. Thanks for your help!

  • Please help me with this... my computer isnt working and its very frustrating.?

NOTHING works by just clicking the desktop icon, you have to find an idividual saved file that uses that program, and right click open on it.

Like when you click on the itunes icon, it gives you a red box, and says itunes.exe, "Application not found"

But when I go through my actual songs folder, find a song I have, and right click to play it,it comes up in iTunes, and the rest of iTunes works perfectly fine.

Same with word documents, powerpoint presentations, everything. And internet explorer only works, when you click

    1) Right Click "run as administrator"

    2) click "continue" to allow this program to "access" your computer

    3) click X on a box that promts you to "open with" something else

    And then it works.

And it makes you do step 2 and 3 every time you want to open a new tab

For things that actually do work somehow, it promts you to open it up in some other file format!

Can anyone help with this in a way that wont involve clearing the hard drive? What should I do?

  • A question about the England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index?

Let's say you have someone that was born on December 21st 1849. Would that person, if registered at all, show up in the last quarter of 1849, or the first quarter of 1850? They didn't have to register like that day or right away right? Could they have just waited for the new year to register the birth?

  • Is there more to this Naturalization record?

On ancestry.com, I found a naturalization record of who I believe is my ancestor, George Dixon.

He came to the US from England in 1868, and settled in northern New York, and lived in Canada, or at least had a child there in 1878.The naturalization record is from October 27th 1883.

It said it could be found in Drawer 224, Pg 692 (2) of the Clinton County Court, in Plattsburg New York. What does that mean? Also, on every place you needed to provide information, he always put the most minimal amount of information possible.

Any thoughts on if there could be more to this record?

The record was part of the collection of Selected U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1966

  • I've heard that Warren G. Harding's Great Grandmother was possibly black. How could you confirm/deny this?

I was reading around online, and and read how there was some like conspiracy theory or rumor that one of Warren G. Harding's Great Grandmothers was a slave, whose owner had a child with.

Now, upon further reading, nobody has ever definitively proved this, but nobody has definitively disproved it either. Do you think this will ever be completely known as real or fake?

  • Where would be a good place to look to print out a really nice looking family tree?

What would be a good website where I could print or order a poster or some sort of larger version of my family tree? Like I would give them all the people in my tree, and the tree would have all the information, full birth dates, full places of births and everything that I gave them shown right on the tree. The finished product would have to be something that you could hang on a wall or show in a project, just something that looks really nice.

  • How could I get a marriage record from a marriage in New Jersey in 1896?

I already asked this question 5 hours ago, but it never showed up in the open questions list so no one ever saw it.

I am looking to find a record my ancestor's marriage, and I really cannot find one anywhere. The records on ancestry only go up until 1895, and I've spent hours online looking elsewhere. I don't know the exact date.

All I know is it was between John Daly born about 1870 and Anne Garland born about 1873. They were both born in New Jersey. They had a Daughter, Marie/Mary shortly afterward.

Where are other places I could look for this record?

  • A question about something kind of strange on a census?

My Great Grand Mother's name was Obeline Rose Dixon born 1909. Obeline. I know! Doesn't that just sound like the strangest name ever?

I had always wondered where it came from.

But on the 1900 census for her mother Whose name was Edith and who would be married in 1903, her name was marked as Edith.

Then, it was crossed out, and to the upper Right of it was the name Millie or Nellie.

Then, that name was crossed out, and the name Obeline was put to the left of those.

Why would there have been 2 names crossed off before the final one was written down?

If it changes the question at all, Her biological mother died when she was about 6, in 1888. Her father then remarried in 1891.

Could the name Obeline have something do to with her trying to let her Mother's name live on? Her Mother's name was something along the lines of Phlenna, Philomine, Phylam, Phyliman, and Mary.

  • WWI draft card Question again - With Picture!!?

    Ok, here is the picture

    http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii41/Ecruteakle...

After looking at all of my other ancestor's draft registrations, I don't see anyone else that checked that box. Does that box mean a US citizen in general? Or an Indian Citizen of a tribe? Thanks.

By Marking that Box below the Indian box, what was he indicating??

If what is says is true, The most possible Native American That Alfred could have is 25%. His Dad was from England, and his mom was French Canadian, with like 12 different names on all the censuses and records. Everything from Ella to Philomena to Phlenna. I don't know anything about any of his Grandparents though.

Also, can these things even be checked by accident? And even if it was, wouldn't he want to correct it, because it has his signature that he acknowledges that everything on the card is true.

  • A question about the subject of Race WWI draft registration cards?

Ok, when it says Race, there were the Options of White, *****, Oriental, and Indian, but underneath Indian it had 2 boxes, Citizen, and Non Citizen.

My ancestor checked The White Box, and the Citizen Box underneath the Indian Box.

After looking at all of my other ancestor's draft registrations, I don't see anyone else that checked that box. Does that box mean a US citizen in general? Or an Indian Citizen of a tribe? Thanks.

  • What is this song's name?

Its really rhythmic, and it has a lower voice rapping some of it, and has some girls singing parts of it.

It also has a really high synth sound that goes an octave lower, and then goes another 2 octaves higher, and then an octave lower, back to where it started.

I think some of the lyrics go like get on the floor maybe... thats what the girls sing.
