1 AnswerMathematics9 years agowhat colleges should i be looking at?
3.9 w gpa, lots of volunteering, field hockey and karate (will have balck belt by the time i apply), 189 on PSAT, all honors/AP classes (11 AP classes by graduation), rigorous public school (12th in PA), estimated 12 college credits through dual enrollment by graduation, work experience.
so my question is...what colleges should i be looking at? funds aren't unlimited but i won't get a cent from the government so i would need a merit scholarshp for an expensive school (>20,000 tuition/year)
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agowhat do you think of this idea?
in order to receive welfare, a person must perform at least 10 hours of community service per week unless they have a medical excuse.
if you're going to collect money from the government, why can't you give to the community that is supporting you? just a thought...

2 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agowhy are people who call themselves 'pro-life' against stem cell research?
don't they want to save lives?? isn't that the point?? the embryos used in STR were going to be destroyed anyway. i would think a person labeled 'pro-life' would be supportive of a medicine that can cure some of the world's most devastating diseases (cancer, alzheimer's, parkinson's, spinal cord trauma, diabetes, liver disease, etc.)
just trying to get people to understand their own labels
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agowhat should i do????
i am a sophomore in high school and this year, i wrote my persuasive term paper on stem cell research, arguing that it saves many lives and should be allowed/funded by the government. we wrote our term papers at the very beginning of the year, so i didnt have the chance to find out anything about my teacher and her personal beliefs before writing it. turns out, she is a tea party activist. before i turned the paper in, i had my mother's friend tear it apart to help me perfect it so i could do well. she is an english professor at elizabethtown college (and a moderate) and she spent a very long time helping me perfect the paper. i was confident that i would get a good grade even though the paper went against my teachers beliefs because it was extremely well written. i was shocked when i got it back yesterday and received an 76%. there were almost no comments on the paper, and the ones that were there had nothing to do with the validity of my arguments or even grammar and sentence structure. they simply reflected what was very obviously her personal viepoint. also, i read many other papers that received higher grades than mine and some were very poorly written, containing multiple grammar mistakes and no transition between paragraphs. i was too furious to do anything yesterday that i wouldnt regret, but now i need a plan of action. who should i go to? the school board, the principal, the superintendent? accepting this grade is NOT an option. the paper is worth almost half of our 3rd marking period grade. all i want is to get the grade i deserve and prevent future students from doing poorly on papers because of this woman's personal beliefs. thank you for taking the time to read about my problems, i appreciate it =]
