Can I get into uni with a BCD?
Okay I m 18 and I finished sixth form last year. Since then, I started work but have been regretting it for a while and have contemplated going to uni even though I would ve had a year out.
I was always one of those teenagers that 'didn't care' about going to uni and I never really tried after my GCSEs. Hence the D and C... my B is actually a merit in business studies at AS.
I wanted to do a business/marketing degree but the uni near me's requirements are BBB. I understand that I'm not a likely contender.
Are my grades not good enough to get into any sort of business/marketing degree? I just need some guidance. My mum isn't showing much support even though my older brother has just finished uni and my sister will be going soon... any help from anybody? Please no criticism I just want some guidance
3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)4 years agoCan I use my sim from my iPhone 5s in an iPhone 5c?
I've got a contract on my iPhone (I've had it for 2 years this December). I smashed my screen in a couple of months back and thought I would wait it out until my contract ends to get a new phone with a new contract. However my screen has gotten worse and now the screen is coming up fuzzy and has black spots and I can barely see what I'm typing. It's too far gone to get it repaired so I'm thinking of just getting a new one because I can't deal with this until December.
I'm thinking of buying an iPhone 5c instead of replacing with another iPhone 5s, and one with more storage as I only had 16GB last time. This will still work, right? Thank you in advance!
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans5 years agoWhat person should I write my novel in?
Okay so I know the most common person to write a novel in is third person... However, I'm considering a suggestion somebody else said to me about writing it in first person, but changing the character with the chapter. For example, chapter one being in Katniss' POV, chapter two being in Peeta's, etc. and it can alternate between characters.
I think it would be good for my novel as mine is about a relationship between a younger woman and her boss. The boss ends up being a fruit loop to cut it short - but he has psychological reasons as to why he's like this and I'm making that credential to the novel as I think it's important to my story. Moreover, I think it would be good to express personal point of views to help the audience engage more with my characters and understand their reasons for doing like what seems like bizarre things, that actually makes sense to the characters in their own minds.
So, do I go with good old third person or try something new? Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersBooks & Authors5 years agoThe sentencing for attempted murder in the UK?
Okay so I'm writing a novel, and long story short, one of the main characters gets done for attempted murder on his nephew at the end of it.
I've tried looking around on the internet but the jail time varies (some say at least 10 years, some say 15, etc.)... I know it will vary depending on the location (mine is based in the UK) but I tried adding that to my search and it didn't help.
I know about what it takes to be sentenced for attempted murder, but the time penalty in prison is what I'm struggling with.
This character suffers with psychological problems too, so I know that that would affect the sentencing (about him getting rehabilitation, therapy, etc.) but I just cannot find any information that helps me out that little bit further...
Any information would be useful and I'm very thankful to any answers!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoFilms that are similar to The Boy Next Door and Addicted?
I'm really into films that have hot affairs for some reason but can't find any like these ones. If you haven't seen them, they're basically lust-based affairs/relations and I just enjoy those type of films very much. I've searched online and I just can't find any ones that sound to my taste. I also like films that have teacher/student dynamics or films that have some sort of "daddy issues" thing going on in case anybody knows any like that. I prefer films made in the 2000s as I'm more of a modern person but any recommendations are welcome! Tia!
1 AnswerMovies5 years agoEquestrian mortgages/business loans?
I ll start with I m not looking for criticism on this topic!
I m 18 years old (done GCSEs/a levels) and I ve been around horses my whole life. In a few years time, there will be an opportunity to buy the stables I ve been at for my entire life. It s not a large yard, quite run down and such but I love it.
Despite studying financial studies at a level (and getting an A), you don t learn much about equestrian mortgages (who would ve known). This yard is valued around £400/£500,000. I m not sure about business loans (they don t tend to go up that high I don t think), and I don t know where to start with equestrian mortgages or even if any banks would choose to finance an equestrian property.
It s an established yard that s been running for decades, proven to "survive". The income is roughly £1,260. So it s not that much (like I said, small yard) and I d understand that loan repayments plus mortgage will need more than that. I do plan on working after the current work experience I m doing, so will have additional funds to help finance the repayments. I will have to start from scratch with my deposit as I obviously do not have a home to sell too.
Basically, I m uneducated and need some helpful information about financing equestrian properties. If anybody has any experience or knowledge with this sector, it could just be useful for me to read! Tia
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate5 years agoAcne/red skin?
Firstly, I m incredibly self conscious about this. I used to think that I was just spotty (my face) and I ve used spot cream for about 3 years now and it s made no difference to my skin, I realised that I have acne. It isn t severe or sore, it s just red and I have a tonne of mini spots (that can t be popped).
Does anybody have any solutions that has worked for them? I know there s many acne creams but what has worked for others and how long has it taken?
My routine before bed is brushing my teeth, mouthwash, washing my face of all makeup, applying spot cream (to my actual spots) then going to sleep. In the morning I do the same, minus the spot cream.
Any suggestions? I know it s not going to vanish completely but like I said I am super self conscious! It affects my makeup (making it blotchy, can see the redness of my skin, etc) and I would just like a solution that could make an impact, no matter how small or big :)
4 AnswersSkin Conditions5 years agoHow to get over my anxiety? Have a party this evening?
I have social anxiety and depression and have had to see therapists about it and stuff, my mum wouldn't let me on the medication because she didn't want me getting addicted to something, which I understood so I'm fine with it. My anxiety is flaring because I've been invited to a NYE party. The guy I like invited me to his brothers party when he could only invite two people (the other is someone who's not at our sixth form), which is a good sign. However, I'm freaking out. I've been saying up to like 4 in the morning stressing about this party. I'm scared because I only know the guy, I'm scared of someone else opening the door, I'm scared of turning up not to have dressed right, I'm even scared of turning up with a backpack (to bring alcohol and my phone charger as I have to get a taxi home- I was offered to stay there but I'm too scared), I'm scared that people don't bring backpacks and I'm scared where I'm going to put it when I'm there. I'm honestly just going crazy. I have to ask him for his address/when it starts/finishes but again IM TOO SCARED. Can someone help me? Any tips for parties? Any tips on calming down?
5 AnswersMental Health5 years agoMeeting his parents?
I'm meeting the guy I like's parents. His brother is having a NYE party & he could only invite two people & he chose me & an old friend of his
I was gonna say "hey I'm Emma how are you?" etc. but on the last day of term he told me "when you meet my parents, be nice and talk to them when I introduce you. I'm not stating anything but my brother's last girlfriend didn't talk to them when they first met and then they didn't like her much". It made me super paranoid about what I should say.
I told him "don't worry, I'm qualified in that" when really all my ex's parents haven't been keen on me
Main reasons being was firstly, I was incredibly shy and didn't talk. I've been diagnosed with anxiety (over the past year) and got some therapy classes then after that I progressed more on my own. Nonetheless, parents saw me as unsociable because they didn't like the fact that I didn't talk much, understandable really. If that wasn't enough, I used to have badly done fake eyelashes, heavy eyeliner, trashy piercings and bright red and black hair, so my appearance was horrific too.
Over the past year I've changed (17 now, more mature, dark brown hair, no piercings, can apply makeup properly haha) and have become more confident. I'm likeable (smart, funny, pretty) and more outgoing and can talk to adults easily and I am a smiley and chirpy girl, I just want some additional tips if anybody has them?
1 AnswerSingles & Dating5 years agoTreadmills or exercise bikes?
Just a basic question. My aim is to lose weight (on my stomach) and to build the muscle back up in my legs (horse rider and have strong thighs, I don't ride as much though and so my thighs aren't as good). What would you vote for? Running machine or bike machine?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoIf a guy invites you to his New Years party?
Firstly, he (we're both 17) can only invite two people as its his younger brothers (16) gathering , who's only inciting about 10-15 people. He's invited a close friend from another college and me, over two of his guy best friends (one can't come though, he didn't invite the other). He asked me last week. Me and him have never been to a party together before so we've never seen one another drunk. He's apparently a super happy drunk and intends on getting smashed in pretty sure, I'll also drink and probably get pretty tipsy as I'm a rare drinker, but I get pretty flirty and chatty about my personal life I've noticed. Anyway, I just want to ask, why would he invite me? We're close friends but he has closer. I have a feeling he likes me (I really like him) but I'm not sure. There's been the usual signs, but I don't want to get drunk and try to get with him if he doesn't actually want that. I know at New Years there's the whole kiss concept thing, could that be his intention? Could he be using this as an opportunity for me and him to get together? I'll do my best to not try anything even though I do like him nonetheless but I'm just curious on people's ideas/what it would mean for them if they were in his shoes :)
1 AnswerSingles & Dating5 years agoIs a contract attached to the sim?
It sounds so dumb, but I'm super paranoid so hear me out. I got my iPhone a year ago with a 24 month contract (unlimited texts, data and 500 minutes). I want to buy a new phone, and I'm just ensuring that when I get one, my contract will still be fine. Like - I could put the sim into the new phone and my contact would work the same and at the end of next year I could still get my upgrades. Would it work? Would I still get my upgrade? Thank you in advance! I'm sorry I'm so paranoid!
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans5 years agoFilms like Addicted/The Boy Next Door?
Films that have really hot affairs, I loved Addicted and The Boy Next Door, but I can't find any other films like them. I like recent films (2000s) much more than older ones and I kind of like the 'obsessive bad guy' kind of thing. I'm also into age gaps (older man, younger woman), or teacher/student things, if anybody has any recommendations? Thank you in advance!
3 AnswersMovies5 years agoIs this flirting or anything?
He's 46&I'm 17 I'm just stating (no rude comments please).
Started when I was 16 with him teasing me about hair/makeup, etc. I/others noticed he began looking at my boobs&checking me out. He jokes about about me telling him about guys I talk to&let him decide if I should be with them
We were at a pub&he got drunk. He took my seat&he insisted I sat on his lap. I did&he said stuff like we should get married&i could be his kids' mum, I thought it was normal just drunk talk. He said how he liked my body/I had a good ***/touched me up&said "I would tell you all the things I would do to you if your mum wasn't over there". He forgot when he was sober, but it made me think cause people say what they really think when they're drunk
The other stuff continued&now we're really sarcastic to each other&joke about. We wind each other up a lot. We say things such as "you love me"/"you're totally hot"/"you're the light of my life" etc. to each other a lot sarcastically too. He's invasive of my personal space&I struggle with eye contact cause I get all flustered. I check him out&think he's noticed. There was a time where I asked him if he had a haircut&he said yea&I was like oh I thought you looked different&he was like yeah I look hotter&did double tap on my *** before he left the room
Does anyone think that's flirting?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoAny other girls attracted to older men?
Just curious. I'm 17 and I have a serious crush (ongoing about 3 years now) on a man who is now 46. Anyone else out there taking a liking to older people with a big age gap?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoiCloud storage on iPhone?
My iPhone 5S is only 16GB, I'm used to 32GB devices but my previous phone's charger port messed up and my phone died without me being able to do last-minute backups. Anyway, I want to backup from my backup on my previous phone on my computer, but that was 32GB so my 16GB doesn't have enough space to restore the previous backup. If I bought more iCloud storage, would that mean my phone would have the space to restore from that backup? Like, could I restore the backup to my iCloud storage?
3 AnswersCell Phones & Plans5 years agoIf I buy another iPhone, will my sim's contract continue on that phone?
I'm looking to buy a new iPhone (I currently have a 5s with 16GB). Long story short, I've had 32/64GB on every Apple device I've owned as I take plenty of photos/videos and having 16GB simply isn't enough.
I've got a contract for my iPhone (unlimited data/texts, 500 minutes) which I want to keep.
I want to buy another iPhone (with 64GB), so if I put my sim inside the new iPhone, will my contract continue on the new phone and it would be that simple? Or?...
Thank you in advance!
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans6 years agoStarting a business?
Just looking for some knowledge because I'm a curious person.
If I was to buy a business (say a few thousand grand) - what possible financial aid could I get from a bank? For example, a loan, how much could I borrow to go towards buying said business?
Just stuff for future reference... Any useful links about this kind of stuff would be helpful too. Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersSmall Business6 years ago"Daddy issues"?
I won't bother explaining myself, I just want some help looking further into the whole "daddy issues" concept because I think it might apply to me.
"Daddy issues" are where you take interest in older men because a fatherly figure wasn't present in your life (right?).
I want some help in finding sources so I can read about it (as well as it can possibly include me, I'm generally intrigued about this manner; I'm a keen sociology student). Links would be helpful or if you have any knowledge comment on it!
Also, I want help with solutions (in case it does involve me). I've discussed this with my therapist but it isn't her speciality at all (I have her for mental illnesses) so she can't help me out. Any tips would be useful!
Thanks in advance :)
5 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoGoogle keeps opening new tabs when playing a game?
I downloaded a game (WolfQuest to be exact) yesterday and everything was running fine. Today (only an odd hour ago) whenever I'm playing on the game (it's been fine all day) google chrome keeps opening new tabs? It's really frustrating and I've tried everything I could think of to stop it. I've un/reinstalled chrome, and I've scanned my laptop (AVG - showing nothing was wrong at all). Does anyone know what's up? Thank you in advance
