Bleaching hair but always have two-tone roots?
Hi all! So, I've been bleaching my hair (initially from red, though my natural color is medium brown) since October and overall, it's a nice cool light blonde. My problem is touch ups. I can NEVER get my roots to match my hair.
So, last night, here's what I did:
1. I used wellite on-scalp bleach mixed with 40 vol developer (I have really strong hair) and left it on for about 30 minutes up to that banana yellow stage.
2. I rinsed and applied a neutral protein filler, trying to concentrate on the roots and left on for 20 minutes.
3. I applied Clairol Pro Premium Creme in 10A (a light cool blonde with purple base), mixed with 10vol dev and some unred. I left this on for 30 minutes.
When I rinsed out, it didn't seem to have much effect on my yellow roots, so now I have this blonde 2-tone thing going on. What did I do wrong? What can I do to fix it? Were my roots not light enough? Do I need to bleach longer? Do I need to use a different kind of "toner"? I admit, I'm kind of confused as to what to look for at Sallys when looking for a toner since only a handful of products actually say "toner" on them and those seem to cater to the ultra light blonde (which I currently am, but am prob going to start trying to take it to more of a medium ash blonde soon). DO I need to use 20vol developer instead (again, my hair is super strong despite all the abuse I've heaped upon it, so maybe its resistant?)
Anyway, any help anyone can give on my root situation would be much appreciated! I literally go through this every 3 weeks and it's frustrating!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you
