i think its punk rock / alternative,

I think my 3 yr old half brother is delayed in speech.

There's no denying that he knows alot of things. He can follow commands easily. He understands 99% of what you tell him. He recognizes all the ABC's and can count to 12.

BUT

he speaks like a 1.5 yr old.

If you don't know him, you would need an interpreter near you to understand him.

He doesn't say full sentences at all.

He can put 2, maybe 3 words together but thats it.

I know alot of people say kids develop at their own time, but this is just not right.

i see other 2 and 3 yr olds speaking full sentences, recognizing their own names, saying @ least "hello" and my half brother does none of this.

he used to say "open the door" clearly when he was about 2yrs old, now he doesn't say it at all.

I believe he is tongue tied because of the way he tries to say some words.

he also had alot of ear infection since he was born and just recently got tubes placed in both ears in FEB2010. so maybe he had trouble hearing and it affected his speech.

i try to tell his mom this but she takes it as an insult and thinks im saying that her son is stupid.

I would love if someone told me might child could benefit from something, but not her. It wil be more embarrassing later on when he enters school and cant communicate and then the teacher will bring it to her attention. i say nip it in the bud now. get him some simple speech therapy at least once a week.
