  • Should I include a politically charged experience in my resume/ LinkedIn profile?

I have a question about putting a "politically charged" position on your LinkedIn profile and resume, especially as someone with limited work experience.

I'm a soon-to-be graduated engineering student, and I had to forgo the typical summer internships in favor of helping my family's small business after my father lost his job. The issue is that it's a firearm and hunting store. I should mention that I'm the least violent person in the world, but I love the sport and ingenuity of the industry. My experience includes business development, marketing and sales, training inexperienced shooters, and gunsmithing. I most certainly worked harder in doing this than I would have at a normal internship, and know that much of the experience would be useful at a start-up company or technical sales position. I even was able to use my mechanical expertise. However, this is obviously a highly sensitive subject, and don't want to risk losing a potential employer.

I'm struggling to find a job (or even an internship), and would appreciate any advice you can give.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Pottermore wand questions?

For those of you who have already been granted Pottermore beta access, do you remember the questions you were asked to choose your wand? I got the magic quill and early registration, but I haven't received my welcome letter yet. I found a ton of info on the House Sorting, but I am honestly more interested to find out what kind of wand I'll get. Don't worry though, I won't try to cheat :)

  • I need some gift ideas for my mom?

I'm a college student and have great gift ideas for everyone in my family except my mom. Many of the conventional "Mom Gifts" won't work for her.

She's a candle and beauty product maker, so those gifts are out.

She wants to lose weight, so I don't want to get her a food gift basket.

She has Netflix and a Kindle, so books and movies are out.

Last year was easy, because she specifically asked for new kitchen gear.

I don't want to just give her a gift card, because compared to the rest of the Christmas gifts that's really impersonal.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

  • The best student loans?

Hi, I'm about to enter college in the fall, and I'm trying to do research about student loans. Even after scholarships, I'm still paying a very high amount for college. If you've been through the student loan process before, do you have any suggestions of the best institutions to receive loans from? Or any suggestions or issues you learned from your experience? Thanks so much for your help!

  • Do I have a gallbladder problem?

A few weeks ago, I realized that every time I ate french fries, I felt really sick. For the past week or two, I have been noticing that some of my stools have been green. I know that sometimes food dye can do that, but I haven't had anything with that much dye in it in a long while. Finally, I have been getting a sharp, shooting pain in my right side about midway up my rib cage.

Does this seem typical of a gallbladder problem? I'm going to the doctors in a few weeks, so I'll ask about it then, but I want to at least know what I'm talking about.

    Thanks for your help!

  • What video game should I get for my brother's birthday?

My brother is turning 14 on Tuesday, and I (as well as him) are at a lost of what to get him. I'm thinking of getting him a video game, but I'm not sure which one. I know he likes games like Assassin's Creed (I & II), Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and the Halo Games. Can anyone tell me any video games you think he'll like? I'm not dead set on getting him a video game, so any other suggestions would be helpful.

    And nothing inappropriate please.

    Thanks for your help!

Do you have sunburn right now?

    Do you burn easily?

    What's your "burning pattern"

For me, yes I am sun-burnt (it hurts like heck), yes, i burn very very very very easily, and in the summer I go from pale, burnt, back to mostly pale again, repeat (no tanning whatsoever).

yah, i'm in pain right now and a bit bored.

  • Is it stupid to lick a 9-volt battery?

Okay, so I was sitting with my family one day one somehow we got on the topic of licking 9-volts. I said, "Why would anyone be that stupid?" I then found out that I was the only one in my family not to have licked a 9-volt. And all of them did it on their own accord. Then they tried to get me to lick one because "everyone should know what a 9-volt tastes like"

So, have you ever licked a 9-volt? And do you agree that it's incredibly stupid to do that? Just wondering.

  • Yahoo! Canada Answers... What?

Well, I just realized my Yahoo! Answers is set on Canada. I went to Canada a few weeks ago, and I'm assuming that has something to do with it, though I didn't go on Y!A during the trip. How can I get it back to US?

  • Semi-formal event...?

I've just received an invitation to an Awards Night at my high school. The letter said the event is semi-formal. When I read it, I thought it just meant no jeans. When I told my mom, she said semi-formal meant dresses, and is basically a step below prom.

Which is correct? Any ideas on what I should wear?

Thanks so much for your help!

  • North East College Visit Trip...?

I've decided to invest a week or so of my summer to make a college visit trip. I'm looking at schools with strong programs in biotechnology, bioengineering, genetics, and other related fields. For now, I'm just planning on going through PA, NY, and New England. I'll probably go into MD at some point to look at Johns Hopkins. But for this trip, I'm going to MIT, Renneselaer (sp?), University of PA, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon. Any other stops I should take?

    Thanks Much!!!

  • Can you have two devices on one i-tunes account?

My brother recently got an mp3 player and I was wondering whether we can share an i-tunes account to save money. Is this possible? His mp3 player isn't registered yet. I'm mostly wondering because I tried downloading something off of my dad's account and it wouldn't let me. Thanks for your help.

  • bacteria question...(I need experts if possible)?

I'm doing a science project involving bacteria and pH.

I've let the bacteria grow for about 36 hours.

I can see no growth in the 5.25 or the 6 pH dishes, while there is ample in the 7 and 8 pH dishes.

I was planning (before the lack of growth) to see if the descendants of the lower pH dishes were more adapted to grow in 6 pH conditions than the other ones.

My dad seems to think that there is a small, microscopic growth on the low pH dishes, and wants me to transfer the "bacteria" on the plates to 7 pH dishes to see if there's growth.

However, I'd still need to finish my experiment, but I would not have time because I am taking a trip to Canada on Wednesday.

So, I have 2 questions. Will my dad's idea work? Secondly, is there any way to salvage my science project? it's doubling as my senior project, so I kind of need it to work (yes, I know it "works" if my hypothesis fails, but I really haven't gotten to that part of my experiment yet)

I was thinking of seeing if the high pH dish was more likely to survive in high pH than the 7 pH, but that is breaking the scientific method... isn't it?

    Thanks for your help!
