Could someone please explain to me the humidity readings between western Canada and South Korea?
I spent some time living in Korea and the summer was all but unbearable for me, particularly as I'm an inland British Colimbia kid so I grew up in strong winters. The rest of my experience abroad had been wonderful though so I would like to make plans to go back, but this time be prepared. There's something I don't understand though. The weather there felt very muggy, which I understand to be from the humidity, but when I look at weather sites/apps, the humidity here in Vancouver can reach similar percentages but it never feels muggy. So what's the point of the reading? How am I actually supposed to be interpreting it if the percentages are essentially telling me nothing?
2 AnswersWeather6 years agoHow do 왜 and 외 sound different?
I understand the first to be pronounced with rather widely parted lips and an "ay" like sound ("way") but I was reviewing my Hangul and the way the latter was written as being pronounced has me confused now. Is it basically like a more close-lipped "we"? I guess it throws me off also because I can tell it's 오이 put together into one syllable rather than two but when I cram it to one I feel like I'm pronouncing it as 왜 all over again.
죄송합니다 - "jweesonghamnida"?
But I keep pronouncing it "jwaysonghamnida"
Is the first eight?
최강 - "chweegang"?
I also have trouble with 애 vs. 에. I remember my teacher saying the sound is so similar that it won't really matter much if both are pronounced the same way - is that about right?
1 AnswerLanguages6 years agoWould it be too weird to use a treadmill at the gym to walk and read?
I'm trying to lose weight for an event just under a month away now. I'm shedding every extra calorie I can and I thought about walking during downtime - time I might usually spend at home reading a book. So, in order to sway boredom (because a walk outside dulls me kinda fast :p) I thought to combine the two. The gym I go to has a lot of treadmills and there's always one available. I thought to go for a walk on one for an hour plus whole reading a book to keep myself occupied :p
Too strange?
16 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoDo you memorize a workout routine before you go to the gym?
I'm looking to start going to the gym on my own but I'm just wondering how people keep track of what they're doing. Do you take your phone or some paper with you with all your exercises laid out so you can remember to get through each? Do you choose exercises on the fly? Do you memorize your routine beforehand?
I don't have my phone on me when I work out (it's an iPhone 6 plus so it's a little too big to carry around and there's no gym band for it) and carrying paper around with me will get bothersome quickly while moving from machines or workout spaces - not to mention my water bottle has ice so it'll likely wind up wet.
So far all I'm coming up with that will work for my situation is writing it on my hand or something :p
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoWhat is your educated guess on how much weight I could potentially lose?
I recently hit my highest weight ever ( 172lbs. ) after months of being beyond lazy in regards to my physical activity and diet and spending day in and out in my unshapely uniforms as I've been busy with 2 jobs. Dressing for recent social outings has brought the horrible realization that according to my BMI I am borderline overweight (normally I'm on the low end of average). I am determined to change this but know that aside from standard genetics, age also plays into results (I know that my metabolism as of my recent 29th birthday is nothing like my metabolism at 22).
To maybe help with your guesses: I am 5'9", typically quite slim (I've been eating nothing but fast convenient food, hence the change from this) and my last substantial weight change was in 2012, when I managed to lose 40lbs in 4 months with diet change alone. This time, I intend to go for one month on a low calorie (~ 1200 to 1500 per day)/high activity (2 hours minimum per day of weights, cardio, and hot yoga after easing into it for a week) diet and exercise regime as a kickstart before continuing by rearing back to 3 days/week working out and raising my caloric intake back to just under 2000/day (goal being to mantain, not just lose a bunch of pounds only to gain it back).
I realize this seems extreme, but when I aim for changes, I hit hard. I am determined and stubborn ;p
Based on all this, how much do you think I stand to gain by Independence Day weekend in terms of weight loss and muscle tone?
14 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoAre pantyhose ever worn with casual outfits?
I haven't worn any since I was a little girl and my mother put me in dresses herself. I tend to dress rather tomboy-ishly so now I have no clue about when, as an adult, pantyhose may be worn outside of maybe formal work wear. For example, a lot of women seem to have flawlessly smooth legs when out in short shorts or skirts (unnaturally so :p) and I'm wondering if it's thanks to pantyhose (it seemed like it on some occasions) or something else?
My own legs are rather pale and can seem to be full of little specks because of the color of my pores/follicles being a little darker and my hair itself all but black. I don't like the idea of tanning beds/tanning (particularly because I have very sensitive dry skin) and I shave as close as I can, sometimes wax, and have invested in laser hair removal that's thinned it out a lot so I'm wondering why I can't get that flawless look like others and if it's "cheated" through pantyhose.
9 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style6 years agoCould someone please explain Chandler's "dad" to me?
I've always been a little confused though maybe I've finally gotten it: is it that his dad is biologically male but dresses and acts female? Or is it something else?
Also, watching the episode when they go to see his dad in Vegas now and I'm wondering the same as Monica: when you meet a drag queen or a cross-dressing male, do they prefer to be addressed as "he" or "she"?
1 AnswerComedy6 years agoWould it "ruin" alcohol to store it in something like a plastic bottle rather than the bottle or glass it came in?
I realize it's something of a silly question so I'd appreciate no snide remarks.
I'm well above drinking age and enjoy the occasional vodka/whiskey/tequila. I however live at home and my parents are traditional and every bit against their eldest daughter consuming alcohol so I keep the matter hidden from them. Not too long ago, I bought a mini fridge for my room for healthy snacks and such and I'd like to store some alcohol in it as well but I wouldn't put it past my mom to snoop around and take a look at what's inside so I'm wondering if I could just transfer the drinks from their original bottles into something else?
1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits6 years agoHow do you make new friends once reaching near 30 years old?
I no longer attend school and I only have a job right now, not a career, and haven't been able to make friends there simply because I don't really share much in common with my coworkers. I have online friends, sure, but I'd like to make "real time" friends that I can up and hang out with when the mood might strike.
I've asked this before and the only answer I got was going to bars but what good would going alone do when people go there to hang out with their own friends or get laid with a one night stand? The only people likely to pay attention to the girl sitting alone would be the ones wanting in her pants because how else would I draw any attention (I'm too shy to approach in overly social environments) but to dress to gain attention?
Anyways.
So please, better ideas would be appreciated.
1 AnswerFriends6 years agoWhat is the best non-medicinal way to suppress ones appetite?
Since having been taken off medication a few months ago, I seem to be having a huge problem controlling my appetite. I've tried Garcinia Cambogia which was a huge waste of money, and I do constantly have water or green tea with me in the hopes of filling myself that way instead, yet still I seek out food, sometimes when I'm not even truly hungry. It's like "reflex." It leads to me over eating to the point of feeling ill and has led to significant weight gain. Naturally, I went to the doctor about it but was essentially told it was my own problem to deal with and was given no advice on how to adjust to my body no longer being on the medication it was for near five years.
I can't afford pricey supplements and whatnot so I'm wondering if there are any other tips or tricks anyone can offer from personal experience? I've done the typical Google search but supplements, water, and keeping busy are the only things I keep coming across and those have already failed me horribly
20 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoHow do I make my pierced but bare ear piercings stop "collecting" dirt/wax?
Apologies for the very likely unpleasant wording of the question :p
I've had my ears pierced since I was a child but havent worn earrings regularly since I was about 14 (I'm now 28). In spite of this, the holes have never closed even though they appear to have so I'm still able to poke in some earrings for certain occasions.
I don't know if this is common or not but when I did wear earrings when I was younger, the area around the piercing would collect what I guess was wax? So I would clean my ears/earrings regularly. Well, since no longer wearing earrings, even though there's no visible buildup, that horrible smell is still there so I can only assume it's building up within the unhealed holes.
How to I clean this out and keep it clean? My boyfriend has this liking for kissing/nipping around there and as much as I throughly enjoy it, I'm constantly paranoid because even with washing around my ears every day just as I do the rest of myself, the horrible smell still seems to linger.
Other - Skin & Body6 years agoIf you are a male attracted to women with large chests then what is your opinion of those which aren't as perky as smaller chested women?
What I mean to say is this: I understand just how much and how many men tend to be attracted to larger chests as opposed to smaller. But because of the Internet, magazines, Hollywood and otherwise I am left with the impression that this is only the case if the woman's breasts are perfect and perky. I'm wondering if this is truly the only way men would be attracted to a DD chest like mine - are you all under the impression that the plastic surgery it takes for the perfect chest is a must for someone like me to become attractive?
I ask because I am a very sexual person therefore my appearance plays into my confidence. I have quite a slim and athletic figure actually, but my chest is naturally large and as such because of the weight of it it "sags" a little in so much as I walk around somewhere between "head lamps" and "low beams" when I don't wear a bra but will never have the "high beams" of A or B cups without surgery. I've been fortunate enough that the majority of my sexual partners have been older more mature men who understand what it means to be a woman - how we come in all shapes and sizes - but I worry about meeting Mr. Right only to find out my breasts are somehow a deal breaker.
Anyways: yes, I know how silly this may sound to some, but I'd appreciate some poll-like replies from men about your opinion in all this.
Thanks.
2 AnswersOther - Social Science6 years agoWhy does humidity feel different in Canada than in South Korea?
I've been born and raised in Canada but I did spend a year living abroad in Korea. In the summer, it felt insanely muggy, especially when it rained (it didn't get cooler, instead, I would sweat), my hair, which I straighten, would curl within minutes of being outside, etc. This is all stuff that doesn't happen to me here in Canada.
I'm thinking of returning to South Korea for a longer period so I'm just trying to understand if it's difference in humidity that causes all that, or something else. I keep both places in my weather app and regularly check the humidity levels: the numbers are similar, yet I remember clearly how very different the weather had been.
Why is that?
1 AnswerWeather7 years agoAm I allowed to pack bottled water in my luggage?
I'm going on a trip in about a week and it's going to cut short by two days a cleanse that I'm going on - something which I don't want to do. If any of you know of the Master Cleanse the ingredients are un-iodized salt, cayenne pepper, freshly squeezed lemons and pure water. I figure that I could just pack the ingredients into the bag that I'll be having put under the plane (not in my carry-on) and it'll go through, but I'm wondering if I could put in bottled water as well? Using pure water is very important for this cleanse and I've just spent more than an hour trying to find a brand of bottled water that seems good enough so that I could just buy it from the store when I get to my friend's place with no luck. I'm just doubting brands more and more instead :p I don't want to destroy all the effort I'm putting into this cleanse by ending it with drinking water that's putting chemicals/toxins back into my body so can I take the purified water i already have, pour it into bottles, and have it in my bag? Do they put that stuff through an x-ray too? Will it go through alright?
4 AnswersPacking & Preparation7 years agoWhere around Abbotsford can I buy the ingredients for the Master Cleanse/Lemonade Diet?
I'm still a little new around here and don't know much beyond the main grocers like Safeway, Extra Foods or Price Smart. I'm about to start the lemonade diet and the ingredients are pretty specific, they also need to be organic. Most big name grocers just carry pesticide ridden lemons, I need organic. I also need Grade B organic maple syrup, cayenne pepper and sea salt.
Could anyone tell me where I could at the very least get the bulk of my ingredients? I don't want to have to run all over town trying to find everything.
2 AnswersVancouver7 years agoIf I steep green tea too long, does it have negative effects?
I've been drinking green tea because of its antioxidant effects, the small metabolism boost, and the simple fact that it soothes my stomach and clears my skin. I just read however that because of the caffeine content, it shouldn't be steeped for more than 2 minutes. Would a higher amount of caffeine, apart from keeping me awake, slow down or "reverse" any of the positive effects that I've had from green tea in the past?
I have trouble drinking tea while it's so hot as to only have been steeped for a few minutes so I tend to let it cool for much longer - sometimes I even forget about it for nearly half an hour :p
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness7 years agoWhy is my rendered file size in Sony Vegas 9 so incredibly disproportionate?
I can't figure out what settings to use when rendering and have tried most output file types just to see which worked best and couldn't get it right...
When I upload a movie clip that's for example just under 2GB with the purpose of reducing it to a few key scenes, the rendered file winds up over 10GB!
I basically just want the video quality to be same as the original file type - that's the most important thing - but even if I choose the rendered video type to be the same as what the original video file type was, I still get the same problem
So either I have a ridiculously large new file size, or a file of decent size but absolutely terrible quality in comparison to the original file. I have no idea what to do...
If it helps: I'm running Windows Vista and work from .avi and .mp4 files 98% of the time
2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoWhy does my nose suddenly get runny when I'm having sex and how can I make it stop?
So far as I can recall, it's something that's never happened to me before. I started wondering then if it was allergies but this guy has never had animals in his place, it's a newer building, and allergy season wasn't even close to hitting when we first started seeing each other.
Thankfully, he laughs it off with me a fair bit, but it's still embarrassing and can ruin the mood and my own confidence
What could be causing it and how can I make it stop?
I don't even get a runny nose when I go to the gym so this is completely bizarre to me. Usually the only time it happens is when I eat really spicy food
1 AnswerOther - Health7 years agoCan/Do condoms leave a strange smell in a woman for several days after use?
I was with a man the other night, and since then, everytime I've gone to the bathroom, there's been a fairly strong and what I think unpleasant smell from between my legs...I thought maybe it was because of the man that I was with but then thinking on it, I realized that something like this had happened once before and the same condom had been used then. It was Tojan BareSkin.
Could it be the condom that's doing it then? Are there any that won't or are less likely to do that others? How do I make the smell stop? I've been using feminine wipes but it hasn't helped.
2 AnswersWomen's Health7 years agoHow do you put on your back-clasping day-to-day bra?
It's a strange question maybe, but I'm wondering if it's weird/unusual that when I put on a bra, I put it on "backwards" so that I can easily look down and clasp it and then just twist it around my torso until it's front ways (the cups now facing the front) and slide the straps onto my shoulders.
Am I the only one who does this? How do you do it?
I've tried putting a bra on with the clasps at the back from the start but I can never get both hooks and it takes too many attempts :p
