Sokoh's toy

We adopted a puggle from a shelter and are trying to train her. She digs and scratches at the couch, and chews on everything. She has plenty of toys and bones, but prefers socks and wood. She is also very hyper, which I know comes with the territory of a puppy, but I want to help her calm down. How can I do that?

I also know hitting a dog is bad, but what alternatives are there for discipline? I'm not into the squirt bottle method.

Please help.

I adopted a pug/beagle mix who was rescued from a puppy mill. I'm having trouble training her not to beg for food, potty training, and biting my leg when i walk.

Any ideas?

I have no medical insurance and no primary care Dr. (my husband was in the military and our dr was at Walter Reed)

I am very depressed and think taking something would help. Who do I call or how doI 1. find a dr with no insurance that won't charge me 12 million dollars and 2. tell them i'm depressed? Can I do that with a family dr or does it need to be head dr?

My husband and I just bought a house. Yay. Our neighbors are creepy, creepy people. I've lived there for a month and seen him once. They have a JRT out front all the time. It has food and water (I'm assuming, there are 2 folgers plastic coffee containers, although always tipped over) and it's chained to a tree. It was really nice outside so it didn't seem that bad to me.

Then I found out they have another dog, a huge black thing (it's a mutt, but massive) that they keep inside.

It's now snowing every day. This dog has no shelter or fur and yesterday I saw it shivering trying to get up on the front porch but it's chain was too short. Is this cruel?

I really want to call the SPCA on them because they don't leave the other one out, but I don't want them to be upset with us. They seem crazy! Like nuclear testing babies crazy.

Any suggestions?

I currently enjoy reading Stephanie Laurens, Suzanne Enoch, Lisa Kleypas etc, mostly from Avon Historical Romance novels.

I am looking to find some new historical romance novels that also include vampires and things alike in them. Any suggestions on titles or authors who write such things? Or even non-romance authors, just give me some ideas on some interesting books to read. Fiction or non it doesn't matter.

My shih-tzu who is 10 months old recently started eating her own poop. We have to leave her alone during the day and she just goes in the bedrooms and then eats it. This morning she ate it, and then threw it up. She's just recently started doing this, and I didn't know why. She is also going through her first heat cycle (don't freak out, we're getting her fixed) so I didn't know if this had anything else to do with it or not.

Also, is there anything I can do to make her stop? We take her out often enough, she's just alone during the day.

I need to get some more flea prevention for my 10 month old shih-tzu. We just moved into a house with 3 outdoor cats next door and some less-than-clean neighbors.

Is it alright if I get it from Petco? Which kind is the best? I'm not sure which kind came from the vet, although I guess I could always call and ask...but the internet is easier (lol I will call the vet relax, I'm no troll)

We bought a house. Phew. Now the trouble begins.

History: VA loan, had offer made contingent on a home inspection. Then had it contingent on fixing 3 things resulting from the inspection: Fixing fireplace flashing on the roof, bolting the deck instead of nails, and removing a freon freezer from the basement. They told our agent they had done these things. We closed Friday.

They didn't do any of them. And we also heard through the grapevine there is a class-action suit against them for shoddy work (they are a family friend of a friend).

What should I do next? Do I consult an attorney? I know I need to talk to my agent, I just wanted to see if anyone had dealt with this in the past.

I'm not sure if I want to be involved with the suit )it was for bad trusses in attics) but I want compensation for a breach of contract for not fixing these items. Also, they gave us a 1 year home warranty.

I'm so lost...I hate people :/

I just quit smoking Tuesday...I went from a pack a day to nothing. No nicorette gum, no patch, no inhaler. Yay me. We're buying a house so I can't afford it anymore lol.

I was just wondering what I could do to keep me busy and my mind off smoking. I am already walking at night, chewing gum, "smoking" a pen cap and straws...and eating dum dum suckers.

My husband and I are buying a house with a smaller wood burning fireplace. It looks like it hasn't been used in years and when we move in I'd like to be able to use it and eventually turn it to gas (another question, another day). I know that there can be some dangers with fires in the chimney so I'd really like to do this right. Any suggestions are welcome!

My husband and I found a great little house in Ohio. We want to put in an offer but I'm a little weary of the steps...

I know to put it contingent on a termite and house inspection, but other than that, I'm at a loss.

I also know that my real estate agent can go over these things with me but I just wanted to get an idea of what to look for in our meeting.

Yes, I know the usual question here...but mine is just for opinions.

First of all, I will take her to the vet second of all I just want some opinions. Sheesh :)

I went home for lunch today and my 6 mo old Shih tzu was very tired and had a little green discharge in the left side of her nose. She was beathing okay so it's not an emergency.

I was just wondering what some other symptoms of a cold would be or if anyone had experienced just a little snot.

And really, I know, I'm gonna call the vet if it gets worse, I just want some ideas.

That were born into a puppy mill?

Now don't take that as it sounds. I've seen first hand the effects of what a puppy from a mill/BYB can have on a dog (my sister bought a maltese pomeranian from one and it's on 6 or 7 different meds daily) but is it their fault?

I'm all for not buying from them to support the cruelty they inflict upon those poor dogs, but is it fair to not take them and give them a chance at a loving home?

I know that when they're raided they go to shelters and SPCAs and that people adopt them from there after hearing the sad story about how their life began....

but what about the puppies that don't get purchased?

And don't get all huffy or sarcastic, I am neither of the 2 and I have an appt to fix my little girl. I just want your opinion.

I know the vet will be able to tell me a definite answer but I just wanted to hear some personal stories of healing and about how long it took to heal.... And I wanted to show all you dog lovers that some of us are responsible ! :)
