  • Which laptop should I buy i7-7700HQ v. i7-8550U?

Both are dells and the same price, same ram at 8g, same 1920x1080 display, same 128GB SSD and 1 TB 5400 HD. The only difference is the i7-8550u has an optical drive which I need (or could pay 35.00 for external one). I don't game. I use Quicken, Turbo Tax and surf the web. I don't care about battery life. Everything I read says the hq chip is faster, but runs hotter and uses more battery. Thanks for your opinion.

  • What is the pvc pipe in the wall behind the bathroom vanity?

There is no upstairs and it is a flatroof home. It is a single 2" diameter pvc pipe that looks exactly like the drain pipe under the sink. It is in the wall and goes up to the ceiling. It is placed directly behind the faucet/drain of the bathroom sink. Is this like an airvent for the drain? I need to relocate it because it is where I need to place a lighting fixture box so it can be centered. Would it be ok to cut it above and below the space I need and rejoin it with a jog to the left, up and a jog to the right to reconnect it so I will be able to center the vanity light? Thanks.

  • Miter saw won't cut area closest to fence?

My miter saw won't cut all the way through - it is a sliding one (locked in the furtherest position back) that handles up to 12" but I am cutting far less than that and the problem is not on the far side - It is not cutting the edge closest to the fence - I have moved the fence and blade as far back as possible - It is a 10" saw and I am using an 80 tooth 10" saw blade - what could be the problem??? The only way I can remedy it is to place two blocks of wood against the fence one on either side to move the board I am cutting further from the fence. This works, but takes two people and probably is more dangerous. It is leaving about 1/8" uncut closest to the fence without the blocks. You guessed it - I am woman, but have really tried to figure this out on my own. Thanks for any suggestions you guys (or gals) can give.

  • Would introducing a koi at this time of year be fatal?

I have an established pond and they are currently in a non-feeding state. I live in the desert so feeding is just around the corner. My dilemna - I came across two butterfuly koi I really want to buy at a petstore and know they will not be there much longer. Would introducing fish at this time of year be fatal to them. I know to let the bag float to acclimate them to the cold water, but would they be ok going into a non-feeding state when they have been in a petstore environment all winter long? Butterfly koi are hard to find in my city and these were just left over from last year. They are a great deal since they are only selling them at a regular koi price and have had the winter growth from being housed indoors. They are only selling for $5.00 each so it is not a money issue just don't want to kill them.

  • Koi fish caught in filter now scales are damaged?

I found my koi fish in my pond filter. He was wedged between the foam and the plastic grate on his side. I removed him and he has now lived for a week and seems to be doing fine, but on one side his scales are damaged and he looks "fuzzy". Should I treat him with a pond salt solution or what do you suggest?

  • Name of children's "exercise" video imitating animals?

When my children were small I had a cassette and later they made a VHS tape. I am looking to purchase another for my grandchildren. The songs that I can remember were: Horse, of course; something about a turtle coming out of his shell; gorilla stomp; about a flamingo that falls when she tries to stand on two legs. Does anyone know the full name so I can look for it online?

  • Looking for a removable washable carseat cover - where can I find one?

I want one that has velcro to go around the straps so I don't have to remove them to get the cover off so I can wash it frequently. My granddaughter is always eating in her carseat and it becomes really dirty. I have found some very expensive ($75.00) ones online, but that is too much. I also found one at Walmart for $30.00, but you have to remove the straps and I need to clean this at least once a week, probably more. When my kids were small, I had one and I know it didn't cost very much. Have you ever seen any in stores?

  • Is a grainless food better for a dog's health?

I know it sounds better on the surface because of the way a wolf naturally eats in the wild; however, isn't it possible that our "pet" dogs have adapted and evolved to eating and needing grains? We also know that our pet dogs live much longer than a dog would live in the wild. I know once my daughter became a vegetarian (she wasn't raised as a vegetarian), her system is unable to handle meats of any kind, even chicken broth. So for those of you that feed a grainless food, what are the good things you noticed (coat quality, stools, etc.), any bad things? Also, how long have you been feeding a grainless diet? Would you also start a small breed puppy (Yorkies in particular) on a grainless diet?
