  • Newly Married Tax Question...need help?

I just got married this year and am trying to figure out the best way to file. Married joint, or married seperate. I made about 74k this year and my wife made about 15K. I started my turbo tax adventure and noticed we were not able to get any deductions for school becase our combined pay exceeding 75k. We paid about 10K for her school last year so i was curious if it would benefit us more if we filed married but seperately? When I entered in my W2, I was getting back about 6k, after I entered in her W2, it dropped by about 1500. This was all before normal deductions. I still plan on letting someone review this before I file but wanted to get some input from some of you tax guru's. Thanks for taking time to read this. Let me know any other info you may need.

  • Who is the better role model: Bush or Obama?

This is regarding the Fort Hood murders. Bush and his wife went to Fort Hood and talked with all the injured, and comforted the families who lost loved ones. He shook hands and did all he could. Obama found out about the incident and waited till his scheduled 5PM appointment to talk about it. Then he talked for a few minutes giving "shout outs" before finally bringing it up.

  • Hate these trick or treaters?

This is going to come off as racist but its more of a observation. Thats my disclaimer for all you who are going to pull the race card. I hate when I get teenagers from about 14-17 years old who arent dressed up in a costume come up to my door and ask for candy. They are rude, usually have either no bag or a walmart bag, and gripe about the amount you gave them or what you gave them. Where I live, its mostly black boys and girls...I would say about 85%. Do any of you have older kids coming to your doors taking candy that you could be giving to little kids who like Halloween? If you do, they what do you see the most of: boys, girls, black, white, hispanic, etc

  • How do colleges verify my transcripts?

I have taken a lot of classes but I am 2 classes short of all my prerequisites for a specific program. I found a site that said you can send them your transcripts and they can just add them where they need to be, for a fee of course, and send them back to you. I had a friend do this for a job and it was fine, but mine is for an actual transfer to another university. FYI: I'm not being lazy, these classes aren't offered this semester and the deadline to apply is Dec.
