Chinese-American and taking Chinese in school?
I'm a Chinese-American, with no knowledge of Mandarin (speaking, writing, or reading it), and it is part of my heritage, so I thought that I would take it. But now, I'm worried that colleges, namely more well-known ones, will take into account that I should be taking something like Spanish or French.
Will colleges think that I would have an advantage at all, and put that into account during their evaluation of me?
Because at this point,I'm also planning on taking the two years of IB Chinese, after having taken Chinese I-III (3 is an Honors course, 1 and 2 are CP).
Please let me know, this has been bothering me since I first signed up for the classes. Thanks!
I would also like to add, do you happen to know anyone with my situation, with an account of if this is alright or not? If not, it's fine.

OK, so I'm a sophomore next year, and I want to do IB in Jr. and Sr. years.
More specifically, I know that you need good grades, first of all, but what are the prerequisite courses that I need to take in order to do IB?
Like, I was told that the first three courses of a language was required before IB, and the fourth one was only recommended to take, is that true?
Please tell me what courses are prerequisites for it. Thanks!

OK, so I generally am an excellent student, getting all A averages in each grading period. However, when I take the state test for required courses (the EOC to be exact) I end up doing worse than usual. Maybe I'm just bad at taking finals.
But my point is that I'm worried that these test scores will be of a big influence. They are implemented into your final average, though. But I want to know: Do colleges look at state mandated test scores? Thanks.
