  • What is a good (cheap/free) software I can use for my son to do video editing for YouTube?

Specifically, my son wants to have a video of himself in the corner, while the video of the gameplay goes on the full screen.

I have the equipment, just looking for software and don t want to pay 600+ for Sony Vegas Pro.

  • How to set up a server for people to backup their computers to?

I have a spare computer (about 3 years old) and I am pricing out what I would need to transform the machine into a file server.

I want it to allow users to register and pay a subscription to backup their computers to it. It s for a local business so quantity of space is not a HUGE deal (I can always add storage later no problem).

What I am curious on is the software. What is a good Server OS for this purpose. What other front/back end applications should I expect to purchase as well?

  • What is a good Linux alternative to ASP.NET?

I have a Linux server through godaddy.com || I am trying to build a text based game (not a MUD) that refreshes information constantly. I was originally thinking of using ASP.NET; however, I can't on godaddy's linux server.

What are good alternatives to .asp for Linux that can't run it?

  • How do I add a shopping card to pay invoices (Square or PayPal) using data in SQL database?

I have a company that does computer repair. I want to give people the option to pay invoices online if they would like. I can set up invoices using either Square or PayPal; however, I don't know how I would implement a "cart" in to my website for it.

Assuming I have table "invoices" where the customer can go to the site, input invoice number 1 and it will pull up a shopping cart for that specific invoice.

    Thanks ahead of time.

  • I am learning to program websites. Specifically, I am trying to figure out how to program a "status" screen. Let me explain...?

I fix computers locally. When I start working on a computer, I want to be able to update it on the website via a MAC application (which I will build later unless someone knows of a good free/cheap one). The status would then show up on the website without me actually having to go in and re-code the page. I've never tried this before, and am not even sure what it would be called.

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

  • What is a good TV show to watch?

I'm looking for a good TV series to watch. I'm looking for something like Jericho - a post apocalyptic style world where they people need to rebuild...

I've seen Jericho, The 100, and Survivors (BBC), and they are all good ones to compare with.

  • Can an employer make a policy stopping employees from discussing pay (non-union)?

I am looking at the NLRA website (http://www.nlrb.gov/resources/national-labor-relat... but it looks to me (and I am not a legal expert) that this would only apply to unions. If I create a business (assume the employees do not unionize immediately for the sake of the question) can I legally tell employees they cannot discuss pay?

I want to say no (and I have every intention of doing the opposite - encouraging them to discuss pay so they feel comfortable that they are not being discriminated against), but I can't seem to find the portion of the NLRA that actually prohibits it for non-union.

If someone could please let me know (and provide a source) explaining one way or the other, I'd appreciate it.

  • how do I add a navigation bar using an external stylesheet?

I am starting to learn website design and I m plying with HTML and CSS. I want to build in a navigation bar (horizontal) using an external style sheet so that I can just re-add it to each page with minimum additional coding. I can find plenty of tutorials on how to build the css nav bar in the html script, but not externally...

Assume I build the stylesheet correctly.. what code would I put in my .html to reflect it (main.css and index.html for this hypothetical).

  • Can a bank change the payment terms on a Line of Credit without permission or a signature.?

I obtained a line of credit to consolidate some medical bills that were about to go in to collections. The payment was set to be a fixed rate payment for a fixed amount. The hospital has sold the line (as per their rights) and the bank has changed the payment calculations so the payment has almost doubled. I am trying to find any regulation that would prevent them from changing the payment amount (on a fixed rate) without a signature.

    From the agreement:

Transfer or Assignment - Without prior notice or approval from you, we reserve the right to sell or transfer your Credit Plan Account to another lender, entity, or person. your rights under this Agreement belong to you only and may not be transferred or assigned. Your obligations, however, are binding on your heirs and legal representatives.

    Borrower Agreement:

Borrower agrees that the terms for repayment of the Credit Plan Account, including unpaid charges are summarized below:

    Annual Percentage Rate: 8.00%

    Regular Payment: $100.00 per month

A&A - You understand and agree to the terms and conditions in this Agreement. You acknowledge that, subject to applicable laws, we have the right to change the terms and conditions of the Credit Plan program. Any person signing below may request a modification to this Agreement, and, if granted, the modification will be binging upon all signers.

  • What are some good websites to find angel investors?

I am trying to start a company but I have no funds (literally none). I have many many ideas that have been researched and prepared, but I do not have the ability to develop said ideas. I am looking for financial backing (willing to sell equity, but not take loans). What good websites are there that do not charge a monthly fee to search?

  • How can I get my video game idea created?

I have a multitude of ideas for video games. I have drawn then out and detailed the mechanics, plot lines, characters, and pretty much everything else. I have no money, and no availability for credit. I don t necessarily want to own/run a game design/publishing company, but I would like my ideas to be created.

I know this is an insane question, but is there any descent ways to get a game created (assume they are good for the sake of the question) without having millions of startup capital (or any for that matter)?

  • When using a position as a title, do you capitalize it?

I haven't taken an English class since high school since I tested out of it in college. I am starting to write for fun and am doing some short stories, but I can't remember when to capitalize a title.

    IE: Captain Anderson

If I do a quote, should it be:

    "Yes captain."

    or

    "Yes Captain."

I know this probably a very simple thing I should know, but I can never remember.

  • How do writers register a pseudonym?

I am finishing a book and I am still debating if I want to "Author" to be my legal name or a pen name. I'm concerned for the legal aspect of a pen name. Does this have to be registered with the Secretary of State (Montana in my case)? I know how the copyright portion is handled and I have no problem there, but I can't find a solid answer on the legalities behind pseudonyms.

    Please help - Thanks!

  • Any suggestions for a 2-1 laptop?

I am considerring buying a 2-1 laptop to replace my desktop which just lost its primary HDD. I want something with a 13-17" screen. I'd prefer a removable keyboard vs one that just hides behind it.

If there are any that would be able to run normal games (like sims 3 or 4 when it comes out) and maybe MMO style (I don't typically play MMORPG so not a deal breaker by any means).

Please let me know if you've tested any that you like that can do any of the above.

    Thanks!

  • What is a good novel writing program?

I'm writing a novel with MS Word which is fine. What I'm looking for is something to keep everything in better order - IE: Character names and traits. Does anyone know of a program (preferably free) that can keep track of timelines and characters while writing a novel?

    Thanks.

  • Tricks to minimize coughing?

I have had a cough for about 4 years now. I have had x-rays, CTs, blood panels, and the works to see what the cause is. So far, nothing wrong with me medically (related at least). I am under the assumption that it is a psychosomatic issue resulting from stressors.

I have tried almost every OTC cough suppressant and they don't help. I have also tried expectorants to see if maybe it would help get something OUT of my respiratory system and stop it - again, no help. Outside of the realm of testing and diagnosis, does anyone have any suggestions for minimizing a dry unrelenting cough.
