  • Do you think Obama will stop the NSA from using Israel to spy on americans?

or do people still agree with the patriot act spying on all U.S citizens private calls and emails? how do you feel knowing we send 10% of our annual budget from the American taxpayer, $3+ billion a year. Over the years, American taxpayers have been required to send Israel more than four times what the US spent to go to the moon.

What Israel has done in return was to set up government subsidized telecommunications companies which operate here in the United States. One of these companies is Amdocs, which provides billing and directory assistance for 90% of the phone companies in the USA. Amdocs' main computer center for billing is actually in Israel and allows those with access to do what intelligence agencies call "traffic analysis"; a picture of someone's activities based on a pattern of who they are calling and when. Another Israeli telecom company is Comverse Infosys, which subcontracts the installation of the automatic tapping equipment now built into every phone system in America. Comverse maintains its own connections to all this phone tapping equipment, insisting that it is for maintenance purposes only. However, Converse has been named as the most likely source for leaked information regarding telephone calls by law enforcement that derailed several investigations into not only espionage, but drug running as well. Yet another Israeli telecom company is Odigo, which provides the core message passing system for all the "Instant Message" services

  • Why is John McCain against programs that help our children?

Research Clearly Demonstrates That America’s Comprehensive Early Education/Health Program Is Effective, Generates Long-Term Benefits; Nearly 40-Year-Old Study Cited in Debate is Flawed, Outdated.

WASHINGTON, D.C.///October 16, 2008///A wide range of recent research shows that Head Start -- the nation’s premier early childhood and health program now serving about 1 million children and their low-income families each year -- yields major, long-term benefits for the children and families in the program and the communities in which they live, according to the National Head Start Association (NHSA).

Last night, Presidential candidate John McCain asserted that the gains children made from attending Head Start disappear by the time these children reach third grade. NHSA officials pointed out that this statement was based on a nearly 40-year-old study conducted by the Westinghouse Learning Corporation and Ohio University in 1969. Subsequent analysis by Dr. Steven Barnett at the National Institute for Early Education Research and other researchers have found that this cross-sectional study was methodologically flawed and that Head Start has long-term favorable impacts (Barnett, 2003; Campbell and Erlbacher, 1970).

Additionally, more reliable and much more current research demonstrates that Head Start delivers long-term educational, health, economic, and law enforcement benefits:

An analysis of reliable studies have revealed that Head Start children have higher achievement test scores and high school graduation rates and lower rates of grade repetition and special education than comparable children who did not participate in Head Start (Barnett, 2003; Ludwig and Miller, 2007).

Head Start reduced mortality rates for children aged 5- to 9-years-old from causes that could have been affected by their participation in Head Start when they were 3- and 4-years-old (Ludwig and Miller, 2007).

The preliminary results of a longitudinal study of more than 600 Head Start graduates in San Bernardino County, California, showed that society receives nearly $9 in benefits for every $1 dollar invested in these Head Start children. These benefits were projected and include increased earnings, employment, and family stability, and decreased welfare dependency, crime costs, grade repetition, and special education (Meier, 2004).

Head Start benefits its children and society-at-large by reducing crime and its costs to crime victims (Fight Crime Invest in Kids, 2004; Garces, Thomas, and Currie, 2002).

Founded in 1965, Head Start has been described as “the most important social and educational investment in children, families, and communities that the United States has ever undertaken.” Head Start -- the nation’s premier early childhood and health program now serving about 1 million children and their low-income families each year -- is a comprehensive school readiness program that helps to reduce the achievement gap in the classroom. Head Start’s parent Policy Councils and family support services empower low-income white, African American, Hispanic and other children and families to gain skills needed to move out of poverty and pursue the American dream.

On September 24, 2008, America’s Head Start leaders recognized the 25 millionth child to be enrolled in Head Start. At that time, NHSA Board Chairperson Ron Herndon, who also is the director of the Albina Head Start program (Portland, OR), said: “Head Start has helped to launch 25 million American children and their families onto a life of achievement in the classroom and in the community. This is a true success story for the federal government and for our nation in terms of creating opportunity and hope where none existed before. Not only has Head Start served as the laboratory for pre-kindergarten and early education in the United States, but it will continue to be the cornerstone for pre-K/early ed for the United States as we look ahead to changes under a new Congress and President in 2009.”

The Head Start program was reauthorized in 2007, but it must be provided at least $1.3 billion in additional funds to maintain the high quality of its services and implement the many new mandates set out in reauthorization.

  • How do you Feel about Israel spying on the US?

Since the late 1990s, federal agents have reported systemic communications security breaches at the Department of Justice, FBI, DEA, the State Department, and the White House. Several of the alleged breaches, these agents say, can be traced to two hi-tech communications companies, Verint Inc. (formerly Comverse Infosys), and Amdocs Ltd., that respectively provide major wiretap and phone billing/record-keeping software contracts for the U.S. government. Together, Verint and Amdocs form part of the backbone of the government’s domestic intelligence surveillance technology. Both companies are based in Israel – having arisen to prominence from that country’s cornering of the information technology market – and are heavily funded by the Israeli government, with connections to the Israeli military and Israeli intelligence (both companies have a long history of board memberships dominated by current and former Israeli military and intelligence officers). Verint is considered the world leader in “electronic interception” and hence an ideal private sector candidate for wiretap outsourcing. Amdocs is the world’s largest billing service for telecommunications, with some $2.8 billion in revenues in 2007, offices worldwide, and clients that include the top 25 phone companies in the United States that together handle 90 percent of all call traffic among U.S. residents. The companies’ operations, sources suggest, have been infiltrated by freelance spies exploiting encrypted trapdoors in Verint/Amdocs technology and gathering data on Americans for transfer to Israeli intelligence and other willing customers (particularly organized crime). “The fact of the vulnerability of our telecom backbone is indisputable,” says a high level U.S. intelligence officer who has monitored the fears among federal agents. “How it came to pass, why nothing has been done, who has done what – these are the incendiary questions.” If the allegations are true, the electronic communications gathered up by the NSA and other U.S. intelligence agencies might be falling into the hands of a foreign government. Reviewing the available evidence, Robert David Steele, a former CIA case officer and today one of the foremost international proponents for “public intelligence in the public interest,” tells me that “Israeli penetration of the entire US telecommunications system means that NSA's warrantless wiretapping actually means Israeli warrantless wiretapping.”

As early as 1999, the National Security Agency issued a warning that records of U.S. government telephone calls were ending up in foreign hands – Israel’s, in particular. In 2002, assistant U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Diegelman issued an eyes only memo on the matter to the chief information technology (IT) officers at the Department of Justice. IT officers oversee everything from the kind of cell phones agents carry to the wiretap equipment they use in the field; their defining purpose is secure communications. Diegelman’s memo was a reiteration, with overtones of reprimand, of a new IT policy instituted a year earlier, in July 2001, in an internal Justice order titled “2640.2D Information Technology Security.” Order 2640.2D stated that “Foreign Nationals shall not be authorized to access or assist in the development, operation, management or maintenance of Department IT systems.” This might not seem much to blink at in the post-9/11 intel and security overhaul. Yet 2640.2D was issued a full two months before the Sept. 11 attacks. What group or groups of foreign nationals had close access to IT systems at the Department of Justice? Israelis, according to officials in law enforcement. One former Justice Department computer crimes prosecutor tells me, speaking on background, “I’ve heard that the Israelis can listen in to our calls.”

Retired CIA counterterrorism and counterintelligence officer Philip Giraldi says this is par for the course in the history of Israeli penetrations in the U.S. He notes that Israel always features prominently in the annual FBI report called “Foreign Economic Collection and Industrial Espionage” – Israel is second only to China in stealing U.S. business secrets. The 2005 FBI report states, for example, “Israel has an active program to gather proprietary information within the United States. These collection activities are primarily directed at obtaining information on military systems and advanced computing applications that can be used in Israel’s sizable armaments industry.” A key Israeli method, warns the FBI report, is computer intrusion.

  • How can People support israel?

At least 5526 Palestinians were killed, including 1010 children and 340 women during the second Intifada, the National and International Relations Department at the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) said in a report published Monday.

The report was published on the eighth anniversary of the intifada which started following the former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s visit with 2000 soldiers and police to the Aqsa Mosque yard, known as the temple mount in September 2000.

The report also said that 664 of the killed Palestinians were school students and 11 were journalists. 33 thousand others were wounded 3600 is suffering serous permanent disabilities and 7500 with minor disabilities.

The report also mentions that 247 Palestinian patients died in the Gaza Strip due to lack of medical care and for not being able to travel outside the Gaza Strip due to the imposed siege.

As for home demolition, the report says that 8300 homes were demolished by the Israeli military and police, 900 of which are in Jerusalem.

70 thousand other homes were damaged to various degrees during the frequent Israeli invasions and offensives conducted in the West Bank and Gaza Strip cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps.

Regarding the prisoners, the report maintains that 65 thousand Palestinians were taken prisoner, around 11 thousand of them remain in Israeli jails as of writing the report. 76 prisoners died in Israeli jails either because of torture or for lack of needed medical treatment.

On the geopolitical level, the report says that the wall Israel is building inside the West Bank land, has resulted in the uprooting of nearly one 1.3 million trees while the Israeli military confiscated 300 thousand dunams (75000 acres) of land for the building of the wall, most of it is agricultural land. Meanwhile, and despite of the various Israeli promises to ease movement restrictions in the West Bank, the report says there are 630 military roadblocks and checkpoints inside the West Bank, 93 of them are manned, while the rest are blocked with earth, rocks and dirt.

These checkpoint were in many cases deadly for Palestinians who need to go through them on daily basis. The report adds that 165 Palestinian civilians were killed on these checkpoints. Moreover, 40 Palestinian babies died on birth on these checkpoints as their mothers were forced to deliver them on the checkpoints lacking needed medical attention.

The report also details assaults by Israeli settlers in the West Bank who have killed 167 Palestinian civilians, and burned fields that belong to Palestinian farmers and villagers.

And then when palestinians fight back they are the terrorists??? they havent even killled that many israeli's since 1948! if someone came and murdered that many americans they would be fair game any one that can defend massacres is evil and cold hearted because i can never understand how Israel is only "defending itself" and yet it manages to kill so many unarmed people in occupied territory many of them children miles away from the actual real borders of israel its genocide!

and if i get accused of being anti-semetic whatever i have nothing against jews i have plenty of jewish friends who agree with me I only have problem with soldiers killing children excessivly without punishment

  • Why do Republicans blame Dem. Congress?

When it was Phil Graham, McCain's economic advisor who rammed through the complete deregulation of the financial industries when he was chairman, not the Dems.

and on July 31 2007, after the Democrats obtained control of the Congress in the November 2006 election, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced HR 3221, a "bill to provide needed housing reform and for other purposes." Among other things, the bill granted the newly formed Federal Housing Finance Agency "supervisory and regulatory authority over Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the federal home loan banks

and absence of those regulations in the past is what led to this crisis we've been heading here for a while this didnt all happen in less then one year like Rep. try to say
